About Ron Cauble
We are native Texans who have been fortunate enough to live in Canada, Africa, and various points in the United States. We love the mountains, the desert, the beach, and Central Texas.
Ron Cauble purchased this House in 2013
Why Ron Cauble chose Matagorda
Matagorda is a small town on the Texas gulf coast that we had been visiting for years. We were lucky enough to obtain a beach front lot with a magnificent view. Building the Matagorda beach house was a labor of love. We wanted a gathering place for family and friends.
What makes this House unique
There is an unobstructed view of the beach, a large wrap around deck, a wonderful crow's nest that lets you see for miles, and a kitchen large enough for several cooks.

Well appointed, comfortable home
We had a great stay at this house. Everything you need is there. Plenty of towels, cook ware etc. The kids loved the crow’s nest. The house is very cute and homey. We caught red fish and trout. The beach is one of the nicest in Texas we’ve ever seen.
Even though the house is on the “front row” it’s more difficult to get to the beach than you’d think. We ended up driving each time. I’m sure that at times when mosquitoes aren’t an issue, walking through the grass and dunes wouldn’t be much of a problem. We just happened to be there after heavy rains.
Relaxing on the beach
Our stay was wonderful and the home was so much more than we expected. Everything we could have wanted or needed was on hand and it felt like home. The only thing - we only wish that a part of the surround deck would have been covered and screened in as the mosquitoes and the rain kept us inside for 3 or 4 days. Other than that our trip to the Gulf Coast was grand. Will do it again!
Enjoyed our time there. We will be back next year. Thanks Ron letting us rent it. Bill
Great house! Great view! Perfect family vacation spot!
We have stayed at Pelican Point three years now and each year gets better and better! House is always well maintained and clean. We love that we found a place that is so great and allows our dogs. I recommend this place to everyone looking for a place to stay in Matagorda.
Wonderful place! Will consider to return but would like sports channel on tv!
Very nice accommodation. We fixed the 2 doors so they would close properly- the wind was close to gale force the first two nights! Great get away!
Great house, great amenities, great location
We visited in May, while schools were still in session, so the crowds may be different than during the summer. The beach was nearly deserted, and very peaceful.
The house was very comfortable and well-appointed with all the things that make for a great getaway. The kitchen had all the things we needed, and the beds were comfortable.
The view of the beach was nearly 180 degrees, and it was just over one sand dune, within view and easy walking distance. We spent most of our time reading and resting, and it was terrific for that. We never turned on the cable TV, and used the internet just enough to know that it worked.
Make sure you bring food. The local supplies are minimal, and you need to go to a bigger town to get to a real grocery store. The few restaurants there were only open on Thursday through Sunday, so check ahead of time for that. The nearest bigger towns are Palacious and Bay City, so plan on a bit of a drive for supplies.
It would be a great family get-away, and we are recommending it to friends and family for that. Or, if you just want to quietly vegetate and watch the pelicans and waves, you won't go wrong with this place.
Matagorda is a small town on the Texas Gulf Coast, located at the mouth of the Colorado River. Excellent surf, gulf, bay, pier, and river fishing. 20 plus miles of beach. Come relax.
