Melissa Hayes purchased this house in 2012

Why Melissa Hayes chose Hill Country

We love New Braunfels and enjoy traveling there as a family and couldn't resist owning a part of the city.

What makes this house unique

We fell in love with the old 1880 house because it was so charming and was so close to all of our favorite things. I know you will love it as much as we do.

A lovely peaceful break from the winter blizzards up North

  • 5 of 5

New Braunfels is a lovely small Texas town with lots of parks, activities, and a charming downtown. It was the perfect place to escape the winter in Maine. The house is absolutely adorable in a quiet neighborhood near the park. It is fully equipped for moving right in. It's clean and spacious. I expect is busy here during the summer months because of the large water park nearby. But for us it was good time to be here. Highly recommend this rental

Can't Wait to Go Back

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this lovely old house over the holidays to be close to our grown up children and their families. We found everything was as expected from the details in the listing. The minor equipment problems we encountered during our two month stay were resolved very quickly by Melissa and her husband. The house is very open and airy with huge amounts of natural light . The kitchen was adequately equipped for everyday but we did have to use a roaster we brought with us for helping cook Thanksgiving dinner. The house is decorated with a lot of antiques and combined with the wood ceilings and floors to give a turn of the century feeling to the whole house. The fenced yard was great for our dogs and the playground equipment was big hit with our granddaughter and the outdoor patio was a wonderful shady place to spend time in the afternoon.

We really liked the 15 min walk downtown and taking a shortcut through Prince Solms park to cross the Comal River by the tube chutes. There's no shortage of places to eat in New Braunfels and Gruene but coming from Houston, we could not really say that we found any new favorites. On the other hand, it was wonderful getting the chance to enjoy the live music offered at many of the local bars. A number of places have outdoor seating and we found all of them we tried to be dog-friendly for well behaved dogs.

We would definitely recommend this home to friends or family and we are planning on returning for another stay this year.

Beautiful house with great location!

  • 5 of 5

This house was so perfect and charming! It was beautifully decorated and perfect to the float. 5 mins to Gruene and a few blocks from the shoot. The house had everything we needed and was quiet for sleeping. We had 8 adults and everyone had plenty of space. Great backyard for hanging out! THe owner was super attentive and accessible. We will definitely be back!

Labor Day Weekend Float Trip

  • 5 of 5

The 5/5 stars provided by everyone says it all. The house was perfect for my float trip on the Comal River. We walked to and from the tube rentals since the house was only a few blocks away. I will definitely look to stay at this house again when I visit New Braunfels.

The owners were extremely responsive and helpful throughout the entire process and trip.
