Great Place on the Lake
We were very happy with the cottage. It was very comfy. It's in a beautiful setting! We all had a blast!! We would stay there again any time!

We love accommodating appreciative guests like Pete, and we look forward to their return visits.
Older property in need of repairs and cleaning, great location on lake
This is a great location on the lake with good views. It has a fire ring and some water toys.
The house is in need of repairs and a good cleaning. There was a bi-fold door to the utility room that was off its hinges and leaning against the wall in the third bedroom. The drywall in the second bedroom was pealing and had been fixed with a screw. Most rooms needed painting as evidenced by discolored walls. The exterior house has green mold or algae and hasn't been cleaned you probably a few years. The house was not cleaned properly and there were white dog hairs inside and on the front mat. Our dog came home with flees.
The coffee maker had not been clean for quite a while and it took time to clean it. We probably spent two hours cleaning the place and I'm not a neat freak. Not sure what they do with the money collected to clean. Beds are marginal and the middle bedroom was barely suitable.
We left a day early even though the weather was perfect. Enough was enough.
If you have kids and don't want to worry about them harming a nice place, this is for you.
Beautiful location on the Lake
The location on the Lake was just perfect. Very private. We brought our two dogs and they had plenty of room to run and swim. The water was clear and warm and the lake was shallow for a long way out. Kayaks were much appreciated and a lot of fun. We completed the 1000 piece puzzle during the time we were inside during the hurricane. We felt completely safe. The home is in need of updating with some deferred maintenance issues, but we had everything we needed for our stay.
Beautiful, perfect view, but felt dirty
The house was great, exactly what I expected, the dock, fire pit, and lake were like a dream, and we enjoyed every moment out there. We all loved kayaking, fishing, roasting marshmallows, and I appreciated that there were kid-size kayaks and paddles; my kids loved them, and I loved the tubes/rafts that were available there to float in the lake on. That was all absolutely perfect!
The only drawback was that the cleaning company clearly doesn’t do a very good job. There are cobwebs everywhere, inside and outside along the house on the porch, dirt literally caked on the wall around light switches, dirty marks all on the walls and doors, and it seemed like the floor was just swept, not mopped before we got there - or they just didn’t do a very thorough job at mopping. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher (it had soap, so just never got run), and many more little things like that, that just add up to feeling unclean, and therefore uncomfortable. It left me wondering if the linens were actually clean, and feeling like I needed to wash everything before we used it. With that size house, and a $150 cleaning fee, it should actually be spankin’ clean, like the cleaning company’s name suggests...but it should be renamed “Semi-clean” or “Sub-par clean”.
So I would give down by the lake a 5, but based on how dirty it felt to be near/in the house, I’d give it like a 2. The house itself is like a 4...update the cleaning company, and overall it would be significantly better! ...and I’m not even a clean freak.
As long as you know this going into it, and are prepared to clean some on your vacation, I absolutely recommend it! Also, the owner was great to work with, and had very prompt response times. We overall very much enjoyed it, and are grateful for our time there!
Great Location on the lake
We love this place. This was our second stay here, and certainly not our last. The only bad thing I can say is that the weekends go by to fast! Everything that you need for a getaway to the lake is included. You won't find a better place for the price on lake Norman. We are already looking forward to next summer!
This place was wonderful!
We really enjoyed our stay here! The location, the view and the house was fantastic! Will definitely be planning another trip here in the future!
We certainly look forward to the return visits by these nice folks, and we keep working on making the place even better.
Lake Norman has 529 miles of shoreline, and it is a fun place for boating and sailing, and our cove is great for water skiing.
