The house was very clean and cozy. Lily was quick to reply anytime I reached out with a question. All the amenities listed were actually there and functioning. The location was perfect, a short walk to the beach or the main strip in Ocean Beach. I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!

Quick and easy Getaway

Fiancée and i wanted an easy getaway for the weekemd. We found this gem and were able to bring our furbabies along. Being within walking distance to food, shopping, sun and sand was fantastic!

Family in town for our wedding. This was a wonderful close place for them to stay they enjoyed it very much! Slept great!!!

Nice place!

We enjoyed the place, very clean and tidy. Location is very handy, walking distance to the beach and a few amenities. Beds are comfy and you'll find all the appliances and beach equipment you need for a weekend. Lovely backdoor patio, but the BBQ is not in usable conditions, so don't rely on it or at least check it out first. If you book via Vrbo and want to communicate via that, your messages won't be answer, so just stick with the contact number you will receive after the reservation goes through.

Great house and location

The house was very comfortable and clean. The location was perfect as it was close to the beach and restaurants, coffee, etc. The patio was also nice and was quiet despite being close to neighbors. We were visiting family and when our niece came to visit she had no issues finding parking even though it was a busy street. Would highly recommend

comfortable home

Home is as pictured. Well stocked kitchen, comfortable bedding, 2 outdoor spaces and short walk to beach. We were visiting family and it was nice to have them over for dinner. We walked to dinner, coffee and yummy desserts.

Great place & amazing location

I stayed at the house with 4 friends and we all loved it! The location is great and was easy to walk to ocean beach, dog beach, shopping, food, and coffee, and not too far of a a drive to other amazing spots in San Diego. The house itself was clean and we made good use of the washer and dryer as well as the kitchen, which was well stocked with supplies. We also really enjoyed the front and back patio areas. We expected parking to be tricky, but had no problems with it!

Location is unbeatable. However, there is no onsite parking, so we had to spend 30 min upon arrival circling the streets in hopes of finding the spot. We did, but got at 85 ticket. So, I guess we did not.Additionally, be aware of the 2 week cancellation policy. We tried to cancel the trip 10 days out due to health issues but could not. We also could not change the date even though they said you could, as the system kept adding 450 fees for the same number of days 3 months later and off season. When asked to change the dates without adding fees, they said they will get back to me and never did.So, we had to go , leaving the sick person (who booked the stay in the first place) behind. The place itself is lovely (even though tiny) and as I said, right next to the beach. So, if it wasn't for the all reasons above, it would have been nice.

Lovely little getaway, but missing home

I would like to say that the location was great and my family had a rwally good time. The property is nice, a bit small for a family of four but we made it work. I can tell they put alot of work into the property. A couple of notes - pay attention to where you park, we were warned to not park on the street from 7-10 on Wednesdays, but what I wasnt aware of was that you can't park on the other side of Abbott street on Fridays. Lesson learned, but cost me $56. Also, I would recommend upgrading the locks on the doors. Everything was fine, but the locks weren't very sturdy, there are homeless people around and the mornig we left there was a half naked lady (bottom half) on crack outside in the middle of the street acting a fool.

Ocean Beach Disappointment

Neighborhood reeks of trash, and human feces present on sidewalks outside door. Disgusting Beach neighborhood. TVs adverised to work, they barely work, and only 1 at best. Fan in 1 bedroom not operational, Manager said he would have somebody by to fix, never happened. Breakfast bowl leaks, has a hole in it. Furniture stained in several spots. Pillows suck. If you are a bum, have no hygiene criteria, dont mind hanging out in landfill conditions, this place is for you!! Very sad experience. CA has let this place go to s#!t!, literally. Thanks Democrats.

Chad, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you. - The property manager checked and all 3 TVs are working fine - The guest before you broke the ceiling fan and a new fan has just been installed - We have over 15 bowls for guest's use, you could have just switched it out and discarded the broken one - All of the pillows are memory foam and seem to be pretty popular as we have not received any complaints - I will not address the complaints about CA, but you did choose to visit We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.

Disappointed

I have stayed at a lot of VRBO Homeway properties in SD and other places all over. I say, if you have a decent bed and bedding most anything can be dealt with because at they end of the day of sightseeing, beaching , working whatever the bed being comfy is a priority. NOT so much here. Bed was not good and the bedding was worse. I asked at 7 am if they had any other bedding, at least maybe they could help with that. They said oh those must not be our better ones. I was like great, could you drop them off please. by 7pm after texts back and forth. I was told it family day Sunday and " No it couldn't be done". So I slept on the couch. It was a bummer because it was an easy fix and it soured the stay for us. OB has a cool low key vibe.

Leslie, we want all of our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we're sorry that you experienced some issues during your trip. - Our cleaner is not local and Sunday is the only day they can spend with their children, I'm sorry it was not convenient to ask her to go take new bedding. During this period gas was at $6 per gallon and she had to balance family responsibilities with family time and bills. We get all our bedding from the same place and have not had any complaints We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.

HORRIBLE COMMUNICATION

The day we were to check in we received NO instructions on how to get int the house from Evolve, I had to wait on the phone for over a 1 hour to finally talk to someone who told me the company that in supposed to be sending the emails hasn’t been doing it. We did get in the house. The house was fine but we couldn’t sit on one of the patios because the trash cans stunk and where overfilled and flies everywhere, we did sit outside and tried to enjoy the firepit but the propane tank ran out of propane.. the remote ione on the rooms was missing so we couldn’t watch T.V. We did contact the property manager who said they were going to drop off a remote but when we got back that night the remote he dropped off was for a fan?? We tried contacting the property manager again but never heard back . I’ve rented many vacation places and have NEVER had such horrible !!

Dianne, we want all of our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we're sorry that you experienced some issues during your trip. - We are sorry about the trash bin we were not aware it was smelling up the patio - The manager tried contacting you via phone to verify which remote you needed and you would not answer any of their calls. They picked up a universal remote and took it over instead of the TV remote. We understood you thought it was a fan remote when in fact it was not and would have worked for the TV but you didn't know how to use it - We provide 3 propane tanks for the BBQ, firepit, and an extra just in case you run out. You were advised that there was a replacement tank We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.

Location was perfect for a stay for family wedding

We loved the location to the wedding venue, but did have a Huge problem on parking, was really bad on weekend and had to walk quite far with a baby. I was pretty disappointed in actually appearance compared to the pictures on line! I’m sure it may have looked that nice a long time ago!! Everything is pretty worn , the bedding, sheets and twin couch cover and pillows! The beds not comfortable, and the one bedroom is musty smelling with and some kind of air freshener in closet to cover smell, it was a weird smell!! The livingroom TV never worked and with a toddler she wasnt too happy, and they couldn’t fix during our stay! The other real disappointment was the dirty patios and seating! Trash still laying in corners, dirt, Dust, Cobwebs and sandy on all the seating, couldn’t sit out there, we tried and wanted too ! Also where fireplace is in front they have a sensor light that stays on Super Bright and ruins fireplace vibe! Oh and Oh the Airplane noise dang, wasn’t aware of that all day and night , Yikes!! House is OK, They need to update some things and Definitely Clean patios! I personally won’t stay again for the reason listed! And No designated parking!!

Kier, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you. - The photos in the listing are only a few months old they were taken in 2022, we have installed a new shower, bathroom vanity, kitchen quartz counters, faucet fixtures, and backsplash, and bought a new leather couch. All of the bedding sheets and comforters are new, being purchased only 6 months ago - The listing states "Street parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis" we do not have a driveway - While we try to accommodate all guests' comfort, we're sorry the mattress didn't meet your preferences. - We're sorry about the living room TV it broke down during your stay, and it was replaced within 24 hours we couldn't get it done the same day, we do have 2 TVs in the bedrooms that are also smart TVs - Our front patio is close to lots of foot traffic, sand and falling leaves it does collect dust and sand, if you'd called us we could have come out to see what we could do to make it better for you - We wouldn't have been able to help with the airplane noise but we state we are only 5 miles away from SDIA We truly go above and beyond for our guests, and we are confident that future guests will have excellent stays!

Not as anticipated

Here are the pros and cons of our stay Cons Upon entering the property the smell of propane was so strong we had to evacuate and call the manager.  Cleaners blew out pilot light on stove. We resolved issue with manager on phone Flies were so bad in front and rear courtyard we had to buy bug spray to try and combat the flies. Improvement but still bad. Spent almost no time in courtyard due to flies No pillow cases on most pillows One towel per person for 3 night stay.  Dirty floor Mats on bathroom floor. Limited parking on street. No warning about street sweep. Received ticket on Friday morning.  Neighbor advised their renter warned them about street sweep days.  Note there was no sign posted where we parked. Planes fly over house consistently about every 10 minutes from 5:30 am to approx 10 PM The morning we left there was approximately 10 police cars 200 feet from the house with helicopters flying overhead. Learned from police there was multiple car thefts in the neighborhood that ended in high speed chase. Pros Close to beach and downtown Air conditioner works well

Connie, we're glad you enjoyed this home's ideal location to the beach, but are sorry certain aspects didn't meet your expectations. Your feedback has been shared with the homeowner who provided insight on your stay. First, we understand there are 8 sets of towels laid out for every guest stay, as well as 6 beach towels for every guest stay. There is also a new washer/dryer purchased in 2018 in the house to use, as well as detergent balls and dryer sheets for your convenience. There are also 8 pillows with freshly washed pillowcases for your guest use. They were not aware there were flies in the 2 courtyards during the summer heat wave. The homeowners would have been more than happy to check on the situation and remedied it, had they known. In regards to the police cars on the street, they feel terrible that you had to experience all the neighborhood excitement during you stay. It was also reported on the San Diego local news stations. Police, CHP, and Helicopters were involved in that high speed chase that ended near the beach house. The suspect was successfully arrested and we are glad you were safe during this isolated incident. Parking is extremely challenging in Ocean Beach due to the popularity of the house being 1 short block from the beach shores. Guest safety is one of our core values. It is our understanding that they did address your concerns regarding the oven as soon as you called them. As a precaution, the manager had you evacuate the stove, until the gas source was located and the pilot light was reignited. Please remember that the manager/ guest contact is available 24/7 to assist Evolve guests. We will be happy for any guests to reach out with any issues, such as pest control during a heat wave, or the need for additional towels during your stay. We are happy that you enjoyed the power of the new central air conditioning unit which was recently installed in 2017. The central air cools the entire house in just a few minutes and is an especially wonderful amenity during the summer heat waves in Southern California. Thank you again for your feedback. It is such a cute little place. It is decorated very nicely. Super cute. I loved that it is just a block from the beach. The kitchen has everything: crockpots, coffeemakers, airfryer, panini maker, everything. It is stocked with paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, soap,etc. So many places don't include those things. It was nice to not have to buy a pckage only for a couple of uses. We had a small issue with the toilet and it was taken care of very quickly. As other reviewers have said parking can be a problem especially on Saturday and Sunday when the beach is more crowded. Parking seems to be a premium everywhere in San Deigo. We spent a lot of time trying to find parking spots most places we went.My only complaint is the beds, but it's a "me" problem. They are memory foam mattresses. I know some people absolutely love them, but I have trouble sleeping on them. I just want people know if you don't like them like I don't, this isn't the place for you. Having said that I might stay here again as the price and location were good!

Relaxing getaway near beach

Great beach stay. Left so relaxed. Elegant decoration. Dog friendly. The enclosed and well shaded back patio has a handful of steps. We would eat dinner in the back patio and have drinks in the enclosed front patio...nice to have several different spaces to hang out. The living room has a comfy day bed...cozy to watch TV on. I'm not a cook but I thought the oven was great. We scored with parking right outside the entry gate so we ordered delivery most of the time. A couple bars and eateries are also just a short walk away. Hope to return! Thanks to the owner. Til next time!
