The place was clean, smelled fresh, the muffins she had were amazing. Every little detail about the place being a train cargo was perfect. The hooks for towls and toilet paper being part of the rail road. The flashing lights when coming into the property was very neat. The fire pit was perfect and she supplied the wood, lighter, and fire starter. Everything about this place was amzing. Will definitely be back. Worth the 4 hour drive.

About the host
Hosted by Tina Bales
I love welcoming guests from near and far and sharing this special piece of railroad history with them. The Caboose Roost was created in honor of two important men in my life, including my father, Harry, who spent his career as a railroad engineer.
After more than 32 years as a florist, I naturally bring a love of beautiful details and thoughtful presentation to hosting. I take great pride in providing an exceptionally clean, comfortable, and memorable stay where guests feel genuinely welcomed and cared for.
My hope is that every guest leaves with wonderful memories—and a caboose story they’ll enjoy telling for years to come.
Why they chose this property
We chose this location for its peaceful rural setting, spacious green areas, and easy access to Southeast Missouri’s outdoor adventures. Guests can spend the day exploring nearby parks, rivers, and hiking trails, then return to relax around the firepit beneath the country sky.
Although the caboose feels tucked away, restaurants, coffee shops, and everyday conveniences are only about five minutes away in Fredericktown. It offers the quiet of a country getaway without feeling isolated.
What makes this property unique
Unlike an ordinary vacation rental, The Caboose Roost offers something truly rare—the chance to stay inside an authentic piece of railroad history. Every carefully restored detail reflects the romance of the rails, thoughtfully reimagined with modern, boutique comfort.
It’s a stay that sparks conversation, inspires adventure, and creates lasting memories—whether you’re a lifelong rail enthusiast or simply love discovering places with personality and a story to tell.
More than a place to stay, it’s an experience you’ll remember long after checkout.
