The Space:

Tucked into the heart of North Forest Beach, 5 Bittern is a fully renovated three-bedroom, two-bath home just two blocks from the Atlantic. Whether you're here for long beach days, bike rides through the island, or browsing the shops and restaurants at nearby Coligny Plaza, this retreat puts it all within easy reach - then welcomes you back to a calm, polished space that feels nothing like a rental.



The living space

Step through the private entrance into an open, airy layout flooded with natural light. The living area is arranged for comfort, with clean, relaxed furnishings and a TV to wind down after a full day. The kitchen is fresh and fully equipped - refrigerator, freezer, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, and coffee maker are all on hand, along with cooking basics and full dishes and silverware. Pull up a chair at the dining table and catch up over a home-cooked meal before heading back out to the island.



Sleeping arrangements

Three bedrooms sleep up to 10 guests across five beds. The primary suite features a king bed and a private bath - a quiet retreat after sun-soaked days. The two guest rooms each offer two queen beds, making this layout well suited to families or groups traveling together. Every bedroom includes its own Smart TV, and updated finishes throughout keep the atmosphere crisp and inviting.



Bathrooms

Two full bathrooms serve the home, both well stocked with the essentials. You'll find hot water, a bathtub, hair dryer, and cleaning products - everything needed to refresh and get ready for the next adventure.



Outdoor spaces

A screened porch is the perfect spot for slow mornings with coffee or quiet evenings with a book, keeping the bugs out and the breeze in. The private patio and backyard extend your living space outdoors, offering a shaded area to unwind between beach runs.



Practical details

The home is set up to make your stay smooth from start to finish. Keyless smart lock entry, dedicated workspace, in-home washer and dryer, air conditioning, and WiFi are all included. Bed linens, towels, hangers, iron, and all the essentials are provided. A children's playroom with toys, books, and games is also on-site - a handy bonus for families.



For your pets

5 Bittern is dog-friendly and welcomes up to two dogs. A non-refundable fee of $250 per dog applies. Dogs are not permitted on the furniture and must be crated when left alone. Please do not leave dogs unattended outside, as local wildlife is present on the island.

Almost everything you will need is within walking distance, so bring your walking shoes! There are free trolley stops at various locations throughout the island.

This is a great family friendly property that is absolutely worth renting (again). As a family who has rented on the island for several decades now, this house has everything you might need. From a fully stocked kitchen, to linens, and towels, our family was set for a wonderful week. We too, had the fortune of meeting the property owner during our visit, who was wonderful and offered her personal assistance should we ever need it. From a how can we make this place any better standpoint? My one suggestion would the furniture. The main living room was a bit tight for our family and the sun room table/chairs were not overly comfortable. We wanted to sit out in the room, as the evenings were so lovely, but found the furniture to be more along the lines of patio furniture rather than furniture that is conducive to a sunroom/relaxing. That said, though, I know how nitpicky this sounds. Which leads me to say, I/we would absolutely rent this place again and look forward to the forthcoming updates to the property in the year ahead!

Overall pretty disappointing experience in this property and def would not stay again. Booked it because of the location and pet friendly but but clearly no good monitoring of dog poop in the yard (making the yard unusable) and stains on the couch, pet fur on the bedding from previous pets. This property was overpriced for what you get. Small investments in the property to optimize experince could be: having a fridge with a water filter (given the beach water taste to the tap water) and ice maker, curtains or some sort of window dressings and not the cheap plastic blinds that just really make it feel like a low class apartment, better mattresses or memory foam toppers to optimize the existing mattresses, higher quality bedding, removing the rug outside on the concrete patio, adding some sort of outdoor space that is actually usable and appealing to sit in as the existing screened in porch functions more as a mud room rather than a place for lounging. The living space was the only pleasant area of the house to spend time in and the couch was dirty and uncomfortable. Zero sound proofing in the walls so no privacy between bedrooms. Just a cheaply built old house that has been reno'd/furnished with lowest investment to maximize ROI for the owner. Would never recommend or stay again. On a positive note - HosttoCoast provided a really cute welcome tray and bag, high end cleaning supplies for kitchen and laundry which was a nice touch to elevate the experience

This property was perfect for our family. Great location. I would have liked it if beach chairs were included. There was a cart to bring items to the beach, which was great. Also, the rooms with two beds had double beds, not twins. That made my kids very happy. I would highly recommend this property.
