About the host
Your host
We're the Carvills - a family of four from London, UK, who moved to Los Angeles in 2024. On our first trip to Joshua Tree we fell in love with the desert! We loved the energy, the vibe, the people, the sunsets, the stars - the list goes on. That's why we jumped at the chance to buy the Motel California - we wanted to enjoy our own slice of the desert and we hope you do too!
Why they chose this property
Landers feels like a quiet little pocket of the high desert where time slows down - wide-open skies, soft sunsets, and a peacefulness that makes you breathe a little deeper. It’s the kind of place where you can step outside at night, look up at the stars, and remember what stillness feels like!
What makes this property unique
Motel California feels instantly special - a blend of mid-century charm, a cowboy soaking tub perfect for stargazing, and a cozy firepit where nights stretch out under the brightest desert skies. You can see the Milky Way from the 5 acres, spin old records inside, and enjoy a kind of peace and quiet that’s hard to find anywhere else. It’s a place made for slowing down, breathing deeper, and savoring the magic of the high desert. We visit whenever we can - and we want other people to see what we love about it too!
