About Brian Mann

We live in Victoria two hours from our vacation property. We opened the Cabin to paying guests in the Fall of 2013.

Brian Mann purchased this cabin in 1960

Why Brian Mann chose Beachcomber

I was four years old when my parents purchased the land and I have enjoyed it ever since. My wife and I have vacationed here with family and friends for almost 30 years. We have maintained the Cabin's West Coast ambiance while installing all the comforts of home.

What makes this cabin unique

This is one of the few properties on the inland coast of Vancouver Island with a southwest sun catching exposure. The Cabin is surrounded by fir, oak and arbutus trees. Enjoy views of mountains and sunlight reflecting off the water until sunset or walk to Beachcomber Regional Park.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks you for a magical stay. We have seen orcas and eagles right from the deck. It has been nothing short of wonderful and medicinal. Let us know if you ever plan on selling.

I am going home with a small sunburn..and the sound of waves and sea lion barks deep in my brain. The view, tide pools, wildlife all what we were looking for. The cabin was also toasty warm. We really appreciated having some pantry items...for example, i didn't think of hot cocoa at the store and it was so nice to find a canister here. Ample towels and cleaning supplies..good books for the jet-lagged nights when the ones i brought didn't suffice. And we enjoyed many games of Uno.

Our only comment/suggestion might be more lighting in the bedrooms and maybe a good driving/contour map of the island.

Thanks again for sharing your home!

Awesome, awesome, awesome!

5 of us booked to stay at the cabin over Christmas for 4 days. We commend Brian on creating such a homely and welcoming environment! Everything from the quaint interior to the comfy beds to the well stocked pantry and modern amenities was absolutely perfect. We loved waking up and having coffee on the terrace overlooking the magnificent water vista. Every morning 3 or 4 dear would be grazing in the garden and you would always see sea lions migrating every evening. We even had a bonfire on the private beach on Christmas Day which was a great way to close out an otherwise perfect day.

I can not recommend this place enough! Reasonably secluded yet within a 15 minute drive or so of a grocery and liquor store with the friendliest staff.

We will be back in the summer for sure!

We had a great stay. Cabin is clean, and comfortable. The setting on the water is truly amazing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day stay at the cabin...and our first visit to Vancouver Island. The location outside Nanoose Bay is great for exploring the island, although a bit farther from Victoria itself, we spent more time on the nearby beaches and in the forests of the interior. The setting is incredible, private and right on the water with sightings of birds, seals and dolphins...and amazing sunsets. The cabin has everything, including comfortable indoor and outdoor space, and we were very pleased with the layout and available space for the square footage. It is up to date, clean and very comfortable. We hope to return some day.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with us and for the positive review. In my +50 years experience at the Cabin I have not seen any dolphins. From October to May you will see and hear California sea lions from the breeding colony located at the head of our Bay.

Our third year in a row for a family vacation. Beautifully kept cabin with breath taking views and easy access to many services. Great deck to sit and sip and read whole the sun sets in full view.

Cabin is well serviced and owners are friendly and attentive.

Looking forward to next year!

Nanoose Bay

We had a great time. The cabin is spacious and has all amenities. We were able to relax and enjoy the scenery on the deck as well as being visited frequently by a multitude of deer and the occasional bald eagle. Other than the construction happening down the road (who starts a backhoe at 7 am?! YIKES!!) it was very peaceful. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the property.

Beautiful spot - great location

Our gracious hosts met us when we arrived. We were a group of 6, 4 adults and 2 young teens. We were comfortable and there was enough room for all of us. We swam, saw many deer and fawns, seals, eagles and even a comet on the last night at sunset! The deck is just fantastic and is where we indulged in many morning coffees and evening wines & dinners together. The location is good and we enjoyed various outings nearby. Shopped Coombs, Qualicum and Parksville (minigolf) and hiked Englishman River Falls. We had fun and would love to come back again.
