Designed by world-renowned architects George and Tom Fazio and opened in 1980, the 6000 yard Mahogany Run Golf Course attracts thousands of visitors each year – golfers and non-golfers, celebrities, and Presidents alike – to its challenging fairways and lush greens. Carved from Blue-Bit stone and nestled between the beautiful hills and breathtaking shoreline of St. Thomas’ scenic North side, the course provides an opportunity to experience our island’s amazing wildlife – from iguanas, mongoose, white-tailed hawks, and pelicans to the seasonal migrations of humpback whales, you’re sure to have a memorable sighting to share with your friends and family.

Despite its friendly length of just over 6,000 yards, Mahogany Run yields par-70 grudgingly...players that exchange distance for accuracy will be richly rewarded. Perhaps most awe-inspiring, the course includes the world famous Devil’s Triangle, a three hole stretch sure to challenge the best of players. Included in the Devil’s Triangle is the par-3, 14th hole situated 200 feet above a rocky inlet of the Atlantic Ocean and offering breathtaking views of the neighboring U.S. and British Virgin Islands – an experience not soon forgotten.

Open 7 days a week, Mahogany Run Golf Course caters to the traveling guest by offering complete equipment rental packages, including new sets of the latest Taylor Made clubs (available in right or left handed for men, women, and seniors), as well as new FootJoy golf shoes, towels, and name brand balls.

About Dave & Lynn

Having lived in Colorado for over 37 years, we set out to find a beach property that we would want to come back to year after year. Our search started in 2007. We scheduled a trip in April, 2013 to St. Thomas/Sapphire Beach Resort & Marina booking one of the properties using Home Away. We walked onto the beach that was just 20 feet away from our outdoor sitting area. My husband said "I think we just found what we have been looking for". We hope you enjoy our new beach home as much as we do! Our goal was to think of everything so you want for nothing as our guests.

Dave & Lynn purchased this condo in 2013

Why Dave & Lynn chose Estate Smith Bay

This is the most beautiful secluded beach we have ever seen in all of our travels. We wanted property in the US and it does not get any better than this. Walk a few steps from the condo & you can do some amazing snorkeling. There are two coral reefs. The sands are pure white.

What makes this condo unique

Walking the beach morning & night, beautiful sunsets, afternoon rains, iguanas, crystal clear, warm water, beautiful fish, not crowded, 2-tier infinity pool that is framed on all sides by the ocean (see pictures). Take a day trip on one of the sailboats docked at the marina there on the property. St. John's is a quick 10 minute ferry ride.

Wonderful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

The view from the balcony says it all! Sapphire Beach is one of the nicest in St. Thomas, and our condo was just steps to the beautiful Caribbean Sea. The room is in excellent condition, and they provided everything you needed for a great stay on the beach (cooler, beach toys and snorkeling masks). Loved the trees along the shoreline, they gave us a shady place to sit in the lounge chairs the property provides for guests and relax. There are amazing iguanas that come and visit the trees - people fed the celery and we all just loved watching them hangout with us. Snorkeling was great too! Everyday we saw something new. Groceries in town are expensive, but you are on an island, so be prepared to pay 3x the mainland cost. Since you have a full kitchen at the property, suggest packing some staples (can goods, pastas, bread, granola bars, juices, etc.) to take with you -- and that will leave room for all of your souvenirs to bring home. Don't miss taking the ferry from Red Hook to St. John. We did this on our last day, and wished that we went earlier. St. John has a true shopping and restaurant area to enjoy, places to eat on the beach that overlook the harbor, catch a sunset, or check out incredible Trunk Bay. We returned our rental car, driving on the island was crazy (on the left side, but with driver seat still on the left too, winding roads, broken asphalt, and steep grades). We found the $1 bus to be super easy to ride - even from the islands main area of Charlotte Amalie. Bus only goes in one direction around the island, but cabs were super easy to find for ride back - just remember to ask up front what the fee is. Dinner cruises leave from Sapphire Marina, right next the condo - don't miss it! And we loved Fish Tales in Red Hook - great food and super close.

The Condo was well kept, we never had to call for anything. We loved the keyless entry, which made it easy to go to and from the beach. Be sure to enjoy a meal on the balcony. Bathroom was a great size for us, loved the large walk in shower, and they provided plenty of bath and beach towels for our extended stay. Maid service is optional, and washing clothes in the onsite laundry is $4 per load to wash, and $4 to dry. You may want to bring a small bag of laundry soap with you just in case you need it. The parking lot and the pool are very worn down, which was disappointing. Still gave 5 stars because the view and the condition of the condo was simply wonderful.

St Thomas - The most beautiful place we've ever been to

  • 5 of 5

Where do we even start with this review. Everything about our stay here was 5 stars! Hands down the best place to ever go on vacation. The condo we stayed in was very well taken care of and the owners have incredible pride of ownership. Sitting on the patio and listening to the waves on the beach was absolutely stunning. The water at Sapphire Beach was the most beautiful water I have ever seen. Crystal blue. We would highly recommend renting this gorgeous unit at Sapphire Beach in St Thomas. My husband and I will for sure go back and rent this unit again. They even had snorkeling equipment in the unit for the guests to use. That's a huge perk! The beach here offers shade or sun, your choice, and the beach attendant will even put your beach chair out for you in the morning and put them away in the evening. The amenities inside this unit were modern and very comfortable for our stay. The air conditioning in this unit was superb and very refreshing after a hot day on the beach. The evening was very peaceful on the patio with the cool ocean breeze coming off the water. If you are looking for a once in a lifetime experience, we highly recommend renting Dave & Lynn's gorgeous unit.

Love this place!

  • 5 of 5

Have enjoyed staying at Sapphire Beach every year now. Always look forward to our stay and the beautiful beach, right at our doorstep. We stayed in two different condos this year and would highly recommend either one. They are clean and well-cared for with every convenience.

The owners have always been a pleasure to work with and give recommendations for food shopping and dining out. We were also pleased to see the new beach bar that serves limited, but excellent food. See you next year!

Fabulous Vacation on the best beach on St. Thomas!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at B-209 could not have been more perfect! As we drove our rental car (on the left side of the road) which was no big deal, we encountered some pretty heavy traffic near Price Smart. We ended up circling around and going back into to town to drive the coastal route from Charlotte Amalie to Red Hook and we were pretty surprised at the state of the island with lots of homes in disrepair, old junk cars and trash everywhere and trash even spilling out of dumpsters onto the street in some areas. We were wondering what we had gotten ourselves into until we arrived at the cute little town of Red Hook. Just a mile or so past Red Hook, we found the lovely Sapphire Beach Marina and Condos. The condos were nicely landscaped and the wood has been refinished. Our condo is across a little bridge and just half a flight upstairs from the parking lot so it provided easy access to bring in our luggage from the car.

What a spectacular view! It really was the best view on the whole island. The condo was clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen had everything we needed (blender, coffee maker, filters, toaster, wine bottle opener, pots and pans, utensils (both metal and plastic), dishes and wine glasses. The king sized bed with a tempurpedic style topper was super comfortable. There are 4 towel sets and also 2 beach towels provided. There are 4 sets of snorkel gear with fins, noodles, and a little cooler. The wifi worked perfectly. Scott is a perfect gentleman who is right downstairs between B and C buildings that will put your beach chairs wherever you want them. There is also a Cabana with food service during the day right between B and C buildings. If you look the right off the balcony you will see them. They are not noisy or intrusive at all. We bought local fish at Moe’s Market and cooked our meals at home-we didn’t want to leave our spectacular view.

The condo's residents were very quiet- no loud parties or any disturbances all week. Three cruise ships came to bring passengers on two of our days-the beach got busy but was never crowded. The water is the PERFECT temperature and the best part is that the best snorkeling reef is just off the beach right in front of your condo! You are literally swimming with fish within 20 feet of the shore in front of C Building.

We took the car ferry to St. John for $50 round trip right in Red Hook and had a wonderful tour of St. John.

We can't wait to return!

Beautiful, Peaceful, and Easily Accessible!

  • 5 of 5

Dave, Lynn, and property manager Jeanne could not have been more accommodating! The condo was well decorated, sunny, and comfortable not to mention the million-dollar views from your deck. Snorkeling steps from the condo I was able to see stingray, turtles, an octopus, cuttlefish and more! The condo was well equipped with all the kitchen essentials, plenty of towels, snorkel gear, hangers in the closet, and keyless entry. I wish all vacation rentals had this entry system - so much less stress about forgetting keys! I felt safe inside Sapphire Beach Resort - the guards were very friendly. Greeting everyone on the island with a smile accompanied by a "Good morning!", "Good Afternoon!" or "Good Evening!" will go a long way. I wouldn't hesitate to rent Dave and Lynn's condo again or recommend it to a friend.
