Overview

About the property

Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Casa Tranquila is a half block from the beach that stretches for 15 miles... great for meandering, digging in your toes, and sunset watching. Many restaurants are within walking distance of the house... in fact, the whole town is within walking distance. When you are ready to visit downtown Puerto Vallarta we are only two blocks from the bus stop or you can rent one of our vehicles to explore on your own.

We offer what is called locally a 'bungalow' with 1 bedroom, private bathroom and full kitchen that can be rented by the day or by the month. The bedroom features a double bed and ceiling fans, there is a foldout sofa bed in the livingroom, and your own patio with outdoor table for fresh air dining. The kitchen is fully equipped and we include a starter package of our own locally grown and roasted coffee from Café Superior. Lush tropical gardens surrounding the pool and patios encourage you to relax and enjoy paradise here at Casa Tranquila.

We offer room service from our very own Gringo's Books and Coffee Shop to your patio or poolside. Enjoy a light breakfast, lunch, or snack whenever you like... a rich latte or a refreshing frozen mocha might be just what you need and we deliver. You can browse our bookshelves to your heart's content. We have a large selection to choose from in used books and new books by local authors.

We will be happy to pick you up at the airport with a stop at the major grocery store and the bank on your way to Bucerias. If you like, we can stock your kitchen prior to your arrival.

We can provide you with tours of the surrounding mountains, beaches, and towns as well as kayaking in the lagoon and bird watching. In the winter (November to March), whales come to play and give birth just off shore. We have conscientious, ecologically-concerned guides, in whatever size boat you prefer, to show you our abundant marine life. Solo circumnavigator Pat Henry, author of 'By the Grace of the Sea: A Woman's Solo Odyssey Around the World,' offers one- and three-day sailing courses on the Southern Cross.

Joann is available for eclectic and intuitive healing massage in her studio here at Casa Tranquila. We can also arrange for a manicure, pedicure, rejuvenating facial, hair cut and color, and hair braiding at your convenience right here on your patio.

Some pets are welcome or you can use ours.

We know how important your hard-earned vacation is to you and we are dedicated to helping you in any way we can to make it the best vacation ever. Our goal is that you have a wonderful trip, see and do everything that you want to do... and go home happy and tell all your friends about us!

Vaquero casita

  • 5 of 5

A very affordable option with a great location. It is not very far from "The bridge" Joanne and Patrica will even pick you up from the airport and take you to the bank and Mega upon arrival. I stayed in the Vaquero casita on the upper floor. It was very clean. It did not have air conditioning but they do provide fans. Good WIFI also. I loved the pool it was perfect. I recommend this room if night time noise is an issue for you and if you love an upper terrace as we spent a lot of time out there. Joanne has a massage room set up right on the site. I booked one and it was well worth it!

Fantastico

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Casa Tranquila for 2 weeks in April and had a great time. The property is clean, well maintained and Joann, Patricia, Lucila and Ruslan are warm and welcoming. The beach is about a block away and dining amenities are all within walking distance or you can get groceries and eat at home. We stayed in Suzie Wong and were very comfortable. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking to get away for some great R&R.

DONT BOTHER. BETTER OPTIONS NEAR BY

  • 1 of 5

I arrived to be greeted by the smell of something dead in the bushes next to the front door. Looking around at reception there were old books shelved on the wall and crates of old books all over the floor, this plus the adjacent used book store which is part of the entrance. It was definately a funkytype of place and all the patio and pool furnishing were definately well worn. I decided to stay because they had a very nice pool, well maintaned and a jungle type garden which I also liked. The room is about the size of my closet at home, but it was cheap and had air conditioning. Now comes the problem. On the first night I paid 2 nights in advance and all went well, however in the morning the owner informed that I left the AC on and was running up her electric bill. Now remember, at 9 am the temp is 86 degrees with about 80 humidity then it goes to 92 with 90 degrees and STAYS that way all night until 7 in the morning. It is impossible to sleep under those conditions plud noise from the bar accross the street. I gave her 50 pesos to cover the cost of what ever the AC I might use. The next day she was complaining that I left the air on again untill 11 am. She said 2 hrs. is enough AC. I told here I was IN the room until 11 am trying to sleep having had little to no rest all night due to the heat. She said oh! I reminded her I had paid extra for the use of the AC, then she explained that it wasnt the money she was worried about the the overall consumption of the hotel. In Mexico if you cross the limit of consumption the electric company doubles the tarriff. Now, I do understand her concerns, but I am on vacation and now Im in the middle of her elecrick bill trauma! I paid for my final night but didnt have change so I asked that she bring back the change...which she did not, explaining on several occaisions ..she didnt have any change either

In the 3 nights I was there there was no maid serice, no clean towels and another funky smell comming from the kitchen which did not have any windows and neither did the bathroom which had a small fan plugged into the wall to blow the bathroom oders into the living room. The website is greatly misleading and the great reviews they have must be from people that just dont know the any better! I discovered a nice 5 story hotel around the corner, with rooms twice the size, daily maid service great pool and patio with no rules on the use of the air conditioning for $10 dls more. WAY BETTER

We're back !!

  • 5 of 5

We found this family place tucked in Bucerias last year through vrbo , we loved it so much that we booked it again before we left , this time for two weeks instead if one . Wonderful to arrive at the airport knowing we were going to be picked up by the owners of the casa tranquila and taken to pick up whatever we needed from the grocery store before coming to their home. Their hospitality is amazing as it was last year. This year they have added the most delicious smoothies or fresh squeezed oj and cinnamon buns in the gringos book store next door . If there is anything we needed they provided it . Two of the same couples from last year have returned as well so we had lots of catching up to do with our extended familia.

Friendly & Accomodating Staff

  • 4 of 5

We've enjoyed a lovely break from routine in Quesnel, BC, Canada. Although, this is not the best time of year to travel to Mexico, as the humidity was high and we experienced some rain, it was very enjoyable. The staff go above and beyond, thanks to Luciela, Rosalba & the owners. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience of Bucerias and met many wonderful & helpful folks - this includes Paty, who was staying there while recovering from surgery. We loved the cats and they became "ours" while we endulged them with kitty treats. I am returning in February 2014 with several girlfriends to Bucerias and will drop in to visit everyone. I hope to get another "fabulous" massage from Joann too. Our group is too large to stay here but we will come over for coffee & new paperbacks. Thanks everyone!

We have just come back from 5 week vacation in the Quimixto apartment, and we could not have been happier with our holidays. The Casa Tranquila is a beautiful walled compound – it looks and feels like a tropical garden. The apartment is small, but very adequate for a comfortable stay. It is very quiet and it is kept scrupulously clean. A private patio overlooks the pool and is ideal for outdoor eating. The location is very close to a beautiful beach, town centre, local shopping, restaurants and public transportation. The owners were very helpful in providing us with information on sightseeing, shopping and local events. We were particularly lucky as during our stay we could enjoy 9 days of local festivities in Bucerias and 4 days of National Championship in Charreria (Mexican equivalent of rodeo) not too far from Puerto Vallarta.
