Two bedroom Two Bath Right Across the Street from the City Beach

Heavenhill, built in the 1890s, is not your typical home away from home! Quirky and quiet yet so close to the square it is a perfect set up for a family, girls' weekend, or even for writers and journalists. Shelbie, an interior designer and historic preservationist, wanted to keep the historic integrity of the home yet make it comfortable for modern times.
The cottage boasts two bedrooms (Gallery Room: full Bed and Quilt Room: two twin beds) with two full bathrooms including a fully equipped kitchen, living room, and pantry/utility room with a washer and dryer. An old, enormous pecan tree shades the comfortable back porch stocked with quality rocking chairs and a patio with a picnic table. If you like to cook out…well there is also a grill for anyone to use!
Heavenhill is in walking distance to Hewlett Park and the City Beach (seriously just MINUTES!). If you like antiquing, then you are in luck! Heavenhill & Witherspoon’s Antique Mall share backyards! Located just 3 blocks from the square, you can do almost everything by foot or bike! If you like to take long walks or ride your bike then you can hop on “The Moments in Time” hike and bike trail which is right in front of Hh!

About Shelbie Miller
Shelbie is an interior designer by day and innkeeper by night?! She freelance designs for new and old construction but specializes in historic renovation/restoration. Her husband, Sam, and their cat live on his family farm in a 1907 farmhouse that they have been restoring for many years. We run cattle and have the largest dog in the area--our horse Shotgun :)
Shelbie Miller purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Shelbie Miller chose Granbury
This home is very near and dear to Shelbie's heart. Her mother purchased the home in 2002 when Shelbie was just about to graduate from high school. After school Shelbie and her mother would go over to the property to peel back the layers of remodeling. One fun day we discovered a signature on the bead board ceiling that said: Josephine Heavenhill + Little Louise Miller Cross of the Heart Jan. 1, 1893. That was the day the little home was named: Heavenhill! For ten years the little home sat vacant and lonely while Shelbie went to college and started her own career and her mother ventured out west. Shelbie never forgot Hh since it was her first love (of old houses). Out of the blue, Shelbie's mother gave her a present in 2012: Heavenhill. She immediately put her whole life savings into this home to restore and share with the community.

Loved the quaint cottage
We totally enjoyed our stay! Lots of fun found inside. We will definitely return. My granddaughter was smitten with record player and chalk board on the porch. We played games and picked up yarn to crochet in the rockers on the back porch. Easy walking distant to the square.
Wonderful old house with the comfort of modern amenities
This cottage is full of history and charm. The owner is an artist who has created a completely unique space. We loved the layout of the house, the large vintage bathroom, and kitschy Knick knacks throughout. The back porch rockers and blooming garden were other highlights. It is also in a perfect location for walking, relaxing, shopping. Thank you for the inspiring and comfortable stay in adorable Granbury, Texas!
Very cute place! Decorated very creatively with antiques. Walking distance to town. Great antique stores and a sandy beach park out the back door. Beds were comfortable and house was clean. Loved the rocking chairs on the back porch! Only problem was figuring out the locks on the doors- very different! Shelbie was very quick to respond to any questions. Would stay here again if we ever return to Granbury.
Charming property with a great location
I stayed at Hh for two nights with my husband and our two kids (5 and 7). The house is really charming--so much to look at! My kids especially loved the games, and we all enjoyed the outdoor space. The shops that are basically in the backyard were fun to visit, and downtown was an easy walk. The kids also enjoyed the playground across the street and the beach (across the street in the other direction). Really a great location! And Shelbie was an excellent host to work with. We'd definitely stay again.
Ohhh this warms my heart to read about old fashioned family fun. In so glad y'all enjoyed your stay! Y'all were stellar guests and would love to have you back!
The house was wonderful. The attention to detail is apparent in every room. We loved sitting outside and enjoying the gorgeous weather. We would love to return! The only thing that might need an update is the coffee pot; we found it to be really slow, but that’s very minor compared to the rest of the trip. Just great!
Thank you Jennifer! I'm so glad y'all enjoyed your stay at Hh! And thank you for the heads up about the coffee pot! I do not drink coffee so I never use it to know how it works. Good to know! We'd love to have y'all back. You were model guests! Thank you!!
convenient short walk to the square and to the park.
loved it enough to return next winter and only down side was need for WIFI available in the cottage ( as the use of my phone hot spot just never worked out ) and a television that worked more of the time with more channels, for my nights there alone) .. but did love it . and the owner was so friendly and available... loved , loved , loved it there!
Thank you Shelby!
Thank you for your feedback Joan! I thoroughly enjoyed having you as a long term guest as you respected and cared for Hh so well! If (and I hope you do!!) you come back we will definitely iron out the kinks for the TV and wifi! Please keep in touch!!
