About the property

Two bedroom Two Bath Right Across the Street from the City Beach

Heavenhill, built in the 1890s, is not your typical home away from home! Quirky and quiet yet so close to the square it is a perfect set up for a family, girls' weekend, or even for writers and journalists. Shelbie, an interior designer and historic preservationist, wanted to keep the historic integrity of the home yet make it comfortable for modern times.

The cottage boasts two bedrooms (Gallery Room: full Bed and Quilt Room: two twin beds) with two full bathrooms including a fully equipped kitchen, living room, and pantry/utility room with a washer and dryer. An old, enormous pecan tree shades the comfortable back porch stocked with quality rocking chairs and a patio with a picnic table. If you like to cook out…well there is also a grill for anyone to use!

Heavenhill is in walking distance to Hewlett Park and the City Beach (seriously just MINUTES!). If you like antiquing, then you are in luck! Heavenhill & Witherspoon’s Antique Mall share backyards! Located just 3 blocks from the square, you can do almost everything by foot or bike! If you like to take long walks or ride your bike then you can hop on “The Moments in Time” hike and bike trail which is right in front of Hh!

About Shelbie Miller

Shelbie is an interior designer by day and innkeeper by night?! She freelance designs for new and old construction but specializes in historic renovation/restoration. She is a newlywed too. Her husband, Sam, and their three cats live on his family farm in a 1907 farmhouse that they have been restoring for many years. We run cattle and raise kitties.

Shelbie Miller purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Shelbie Miller chose Lake Granbury

This home is very near and dear to Shelbie's heart. Her mother purchased the home in 2002 when Shelbie was just about to graduate from high school. After school Shelbie and her mother would go over to the property to peel back the layers of remodeling. One fun day we discovered a signature on the bead board ceiling that said: Josephine Heavenhill + Little Louise Miller Cross of the Heart Jan. 1, 1893. That was the day the little home was named: Heavenhill! For ten years the little home sat while Shelbie went to college and started her own career and her mother ventured out west. Shelbie never forgot Hh since it was her first love (of old houses). Out of the blue, Shelbie's mother gave her a present in 2012: Heavenhill. She immediately put her whole life savings into this home to restore and share with the community.

What makes this cottage unique

Take a step back in time in this little gem of a cottage. Art and History come together for a unique stay in Granbury!

It is very homey.

It reminded me of my trips as a child to AK & MO to see grandparents.

It is in a great location, close to downtown, parks, city beach and antique stores.

Lovingly restored, the cottage is comfortably welcoming with rustic touches and ample outdoor space for relaxing. Shelbie is a gracious host and her artistic style and creative talent are evident throughout. (PS There is even a cistern in the back for watering plants!)

Perfect for Girls Weekend!!!

  • 5 of 5

Four best friends from high school, we venture out every summer to find the perfect spot to enjoy time catching up but also to discover new spots in Texas! This year, we chose, our hometown, Granbury! Heavenhill was ideal because of it's location and set up! When you walk in, the sweet charm and history just sweep you away!! The attention to details were amazing!! We walked to the square for breakfast & dinner!! perfect! We enjoyed our coffee on the back porch and wine & lots of laughter in the darling living room!! WE LOVED IT!!
