About E.V. Davidson
Our family has vacationed in Cloudcroft for 70 years. Our dad started coming up with friends when he was 17 to get out of the Texas heat. Later, family vacations with grandparents, cousins and friends created great memories.
Why E.V. Davidson chose Cloudcroft
We have owned this home for 15 years as a long-term rental and recently renovated and decorated it for vacation rental. It is comfortable and convenient to everything. It is our piece of Cloudcroft, which we have loved for a lifetime!

Great place to stay in Cloudcroft
We enjoyed our stay at this home on the outskirts of Cloudcroft. Great family atmosphere.
Cozy and comfortable for the 2 of us!
We had a lovely time; plenty of room and super comfortable beds. Cool evenings and good sleeping, even used the heat for a short while to take the chill off and it turned right on. Owner very responsive when I texted with a question. In the kitchen we could have used a pair of tongs to turn our sausages and dogs and plastic wrap would have been useful for our leftovers. Could have bought with food and supplies if we had known. Ditto for a box of Kleenex! Overall delightful and lovely though a faint skunk smell still lingered. We used a couple of scented candles and plenty of fresh air from the 3 exterior doors and we were fine. Thank you EV, we had a great time.
A three-day stay at the cabin turned out to be a delightful get-away! My daughter insisted I take the master bedroom . . . she took the loft: both of us almost simultaneously said the next morning that the beds were so comfortable! The January weather was crisp and below seasonable ski weather, but we thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful fireplace and the abundance of firewood . . . many thanks for that! Together with Lesley's dog, the nearby forest trails were perfect for brisk walking and a pleasant reminder of my roots in New Hampshire and Maine! Needless to say, the "3" of us enjoyed our stay, and all the amenities the cabin offered.
Very cozy and cute
The cabin looks smaller in person as in the picture which for us was fantastic! Loved the coziness of it. Very appreciative of the wood that was there for us to use for the fireplace. The cabin was on a quiet road close to dining and cute stores. Went and got a couples massage which was awesome as well. Really appreciated the stocked kitchen as well!! Just really loved our stay all together. We are easy to please people. Just wish i had remembered to bring my scentsy as I think there may be a family of skunks living under the home. We got a candle from a candle shop in town that is a must visit and it masked the smell very well. It wasn’t an overpowering smell to begin with, but it is noticeable. Other than that it was absolutely perfect!!!
We love it! We had enough room, the kitchen was spacious and it had everything we need it. I told my waffle maker and would enjoyed waffles in the mornings. We used the fireplace every day all day long. I even was able to roast some green chile. The grill was very useful. Only down side of our memories is that, there is a bad skunk smell at the entry and also in the kitchen. We were able to overcome for most of the time. Other than that we can not thank E V Davidson enough for opening her home to us.
This home is located a short walk from gorgeous National Park hiking trails, the historic Lodge with a fine restaurant, popular golf course, and spa, and is a short drive to many other trails, scenic overlooks, and ski area. Hunters come from near and far for the elk, deer, bear and turkey. A wonderful museum entertains young and old, with a winter skating rink adding to the fun. The town offers shopping variety and several very good restaurants all within walking distance. Many local artists come for the views and inspiration. A small but scenic ski area is very close. A gorgeous 20 minute drive to Alamogordo offers roadside shops, fruit stands (in season) and views not to be missed. Further away is White Sands missile range and the observatory. Friday nights in the fall brings out team spirit as the Bears football team rules in their new stadium.
