With a little work, this place has great potential
I'll start by saying this place is cute and has potential to be really good with some work. I was a little weary since there were no reviews, which is usually key to booking for us. However, we booked late and had limited options. I'll start with a couple issues.
Upon arriving, the exterior hallway had piles of dead bugs everywhere. Not an inviting view for guests paying good money to stay. I did a quick sweep so my wife and daughter weren't grossed out the whole time...problem solved.
Next, the interior looked clean from afar but we found that wasn't the case. There were crumbs on the floors and counters. Also, the glass tables and windows had smears on them. It appeared that a good cleaning was not done prior to our arrival. Again, for someone paying money, this needs to be addressed. We've used VRBO in the past and have never had this issue. After a quick sweep, vacuum, and some Windex...the issue was resolved.
There was a really nice TV in the living room but no HD and very limited channels. However, it was a Smart TV so we were able to use Netflix and Hulu, which was nice.
Of the 2 bathrooms, only one of the showers was working correctly. The other shower either had cold water or scolding hot water. It's an issue with the dial, which should be fixable.
To be fair, we did enjoy our stay after resolving the initial issues. I really liked the location and the views. Grand Haven shopping and eating is 5 minutes away, which was great! The place is super cute, with cute decorations throughout. After reaching out to the owner, we were told were the WiFi info was...which was key to the 12 year olds girls. We also enjoyed using the Holiday Inn pool and exercise room...the electronic keys worked without any issues.
Again, this place could be great for the next visitor with a little extra attention from the owner. I still wouldn't deter anyone from booking. The items are there to clean if you find an issue...it's just we're on vacation and getting away from that. :)
Btw, there's a sandwich shop across the highway from here that's fabulous!
