About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, 1 Half Baths, Sleeps 7

With its weathered wood siding, stone chimney, and a big yard hugged by tall trees, this rustic three-bedroom with room for seven accessible via the historic Barlow Trail - blends perfectly with the pastoral landscape and offers perks like a wood stove, a backyard patio complete with hot tub, and the excitement of a foosball table and pinball machine. Just 10 minutes from Rhododendron, you'll stay in the quiet community of Timberline Rim, and be a quick drive from all the sites and landmarks along the Mount Hood Corridor.

Sink into the comfy couch in the living area of this charming home with its treasure chest coffee table, classic wood stove, and rocking chair where you just might lull yourself to sleep. Muted, earth-tone-hued walls blend perfectly with the wood ceilings and beams. Snuggle by the crackling warmth of a classic wood stove. Also, in the garage you can play a game of foosball or pool. At mealtime, everything your cook will need - including microwave, toaster oven, and cutlery - will be right at hand. Prep and clean up will be a breeze with the beautiful granite counters and dishwasher.

Come bedtime, head upstairs where you'll find three bedrooms, one of which has a king bed, lots of closet space, bright colors, and a hint of the Far East in the decor. Another, also with a big closet, has a queen bed and a TV (no cable) for late night viewing. Kids (of all ages) can flip for the top spot on the twin bunks in the third bedroom. Up here, you'll also find a full bath with a tub/shower combination. There's also a half bathroom on the main floor. And you can pack a little lighter with the washer and dryer available for your use.

To get to this charming home, you'll travel on part of the old Barlow Trail (the last, treacherous leg of the Oregon Trail), the only thoroughfare for many decades before the modern highway whisked travelers to and fro. In addition to all the activities in and around Mount Hood, like hiking, biking, kayaking, and climbing, the Timberline Rim Community provides its own diversions, offering a seasonal pool and tennis court at its Timberline Ridge Recreation Club. Golfers: find your bliss at nearby Resort at the Mountain, just nine minutes away in Welches. In winter, Mount Hood is in its element, offering many places for skiers, boarders, to test their skills. The slopes at Skibowl and Timberline, site of the iconic Depression-Era lodge, are just 15 minutes away.

Great stay in Rhododendron!

  • 4 of 5

We (family of 3) and our friends (family of four plus a dog) stayed here for two nights. It was a great little place - I wouldn't try to have any more people than we had though! The backyard is very nice, as was the wood stove. We were nice and warm. The hot tub was also great. Overall, the cabin was clean and cozy, and you can't beat the Welches area. Gorgeous trails to hike and great places to eat and hang out. The only frustrating thing about our stay was getting the TV to work. The cable was pretty much useless, but there was a nice selection of DVDs to keep us and the kids entertained. I wish they just had Netflix or something like it.

Great Getaway Spot and Base for Mount Hood

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed staying here and would recommend it to families with small children. They had everything we needed. Well kept and well appointed. Very comfortable beds and beautiful kitchen. The backyard was a real treat. Enjoyed the hot tub and game room. Great property.

Marshall’s cabin

  • 4 of 5

If you’re looking to getaway that’s not too far from civilization, this is your cabin. Very comfortable, clean and welcoming. In addition to the well stocked kitchen, the backyard patio with the hot tub and mood-lights were definitely the highlights. There’s tons of great outdoor adventures to enjoy nearby and it was great to return to the cabin and relax after a long day of exploring.

Quaint cabin near Mt. Hood

  • 4 of 5

First, I'll start by saying that Marshall's Cabin is a cute little house. Our family of 6 and our dog fit comfortably, but I can't imagine squeezing anymore than that. The kitchen is well stocked (except for a can opener and wine glasses). The beds are very comfortable. There are plenty of towels. Lots of board games. PS2 console and games and a decent collection of DVDs. The game room kept our family entertained for hours. The bathroom is small, but the water pressure in the shower is great. The community pool was a nice treat. Be aware of the hours though. (No evening/night swimming) The location of the house seems to be a bit out of the way. Expect a 10-20 minute car ride to get anywhere. Also, make sure you stop at Fred Meyer in Sandy for your supplies. The local market charges twice the amount. Marshall's Cabin is a nice place to get away.

While I realize that Vacasa has no control over the weather, during our stay there was a heat wave. Triple digit heat in a house with no AC was absolutely miserable and made it very difficult to enjoy our stay. Maybe during unexpected inclement weather there could be exceptions to the cancellation/refund policy or better fans/window AC's could be provided to make your guests more comfortable.

Pool was overcrowded however the lady at the pool house was very nice and helpful. The hot tub was a good size but even with the chlorine tabs the water was still green. The yard a was large and private but the rad right behind was rather loud.

Perfect Cabin Experience

  • 5 of 5

I rented this special cabin for a few days of R&R before summiting Mt Hood. The well stocked fireplace created a cozy mood for a fun gathering of friends earlier in the week and this place is stocked with EVERYTHING you may need! The hot tub was a fabulous way to end the week and celebrate and recover after climbing the volcano. The dog-friendly, fenced backyard was a game changer as the dog could safely join us off-leash in the backyard so we could all relax and unwind. Despite it's close proximity to a sometimes busy road, it was surprisingly quiet and relaxing.
