Disgusting unit

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I have visited Sand Cay many times. I know that some units have been renovated and some are sadly in need of a refresh. Our unit was unattractive, disorganized, old and tired. We were staying for five weeks and found our surroundings to be ugly and dirty. The Gulf Front location is great but the neglected unit was not a great place to be on vacation.. the unit smelled and the bedspreads looked like they hadn’t been changed in a long time. They smelled of tobacco and urine.Sarah at the office WAS the only front desk person who was helpful. The rest seem to have NO hospitality trading. The others are stern, dismissive, hostile, accusatory and not accommodating. People all aroundthe complex said this and we experienced this. Lyn sat on a couch scowling, like that is a good approach to Customer Service. WHAT?!? Not a good tactic. I plan to write a comprehensive review to send everywhere I can think of including local realtors in LBK. I definitely no longer recommend SCBR and I have sent many guests there over the years.We like Speaks Clam Bar, Shore, Dry Dock, Lazy Lobster, Columbia It is actually laughable to think of the people at the desk as Customer Service staff. They would clearly drive clients away with their sour attitudes. ( Not Sarah)Justin and Rick are great !

Overall, A Nice Stay

The views are great, the grounds are very well maintained, and the check-in/check-out couldn’t were easy and pleasant. The rental unit was clean on arrival, and pretty much as expected from pictures.The patio is great from morning til evening.The kitchen is well-stocked for cooking. We knew the decor was a rather dated, but that was acceptable. Having said that, the whole place could use a refresh. Vertical blind slats fall out when you close them for evening privacy, a picture frame is broken, electronics are outdated or absent, (for example, we stayed in due to pandemic and, after 1+ hour trying, found no Smart TV capability to access our streaming services (or even to screen mirrror from devices) so had only cable tv. We found no way to play music (lucky we brought a small Bluetooth speaker). Internet is unsecured WiFi and very weak (<9Mbps if you find the sweet spot, but <1 Mbps in the bedrooms — if it works at all). I point this out less as a complaint than as respectful feedback. I would stay here again, but after looking around first for a rental a bit more modern in decor and functionality. To end a positive, it really was a lovely stay and the rental unit was comfortable and clean and provided a great place to spend New Year’s Eve.
