The property was a great location close to weekday jitney to Maplewood train station and bus service to NYC. Walgreens and grocery nearby. The inside was ok and had new windows and matched the photos but the cleanliness was poor. Dusty blinds, tub mat soiled, dirty tile. Strong animal urine smell in entry/basement access. The exterior showed lack of maintenance: burned out bulbs, loose front railing, weeds, pothole in driveway and 3 deteriorating structures. The exterior photos not current. . The driveway held 4 cars max, the fenced athletic field was not accessible without a 2 block walk. Owner's fence in poor repair. "Deck" was a small landing. Tree had multiple dead limbs and debris fell on car during storms. The property is still listed as 2 bedroom and 2 bath, but the bath in the basement was never part of the deal. No towels provided. The front 2nd bedroom lacked drapes allowing radiating heat and light. Vaughn eventually added a second window air conditioner to fulfill the advertised AC listing. Kitchen bar slants downhill, bar stools flimsy. The stove leaked gas when we arrived replaced by a hot plate and a new stove after 5 weeks. The most serious problem was the rear entry tile was extremely slippery when wet and needs corrected. (We experienced a serious injury.) I strongly recommend that Vaughn hire a property manager since he is very inexperienced and frankly too busy to manage the property himself, which he admitted to me before we left.
