About Jason Perez, Bill, Sandi, and Melanie Penoyar

The picture is of my daughters and best ski buddies, Melanie and Natalie. I'm a retired Foreign Service Officer, with the U.S. Agency for International Development. Our other home is in Virginia but my career has taken me to more than 40 countries in Southern Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Eurasia and the rest of the world.

Jason Perez, Bill, Sandi, and Melanie Penoyar purchased this condo in 2010

Why Jason Perez, Bill, Sandi, and Melanie Penoyar chose Northwest

While working in Iraq in 2010, and considering retirement in the near future, I began searching on line for a vacation home that our entire family would enjoy. Melanie actually visited more than 20 properties for me and we settled on this condo because of the awesome views, comfortable floor plan and furnishings, and convenience to all of the great ski and recreational areas in Summit and Eagle Counties.

What makes this condo unique

The kitchen is well stocked with all the equipment required to prepare multi-course meals and après-ski drinks to enjoy in the cozy dining and living area with spectacular views. There is also a propane grill on the balcony.

There is Digital Satellite cable TV, Tivo, DVD/CD player, VCR, Stereo. Free high-speed Internet access and two Ethernet cables for your laptop computer. There are board games and puzzles available for family use.

Other amenities include: towels, linens, iron & board, hair dryer, free parking, extra folding chairs for guests, and a coin operated laundry is located on the ground floor of the building.

The condominium is centrally located between Keystone, Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin and Loveland Basin Ski Resorts, each about 20-40 minutes away by car. The Silverthorne Factory Outlet Stores, shopping centers, and restaurants are a ten minute drive away. The condo is also located 45-85 minutes by car from Vail and Beaver Creek, depending on driving conditions.

The Colorado Mountain Express offers door-to-door service from Denver International Airport, and there is a FREE county-wide Summit Stage bus that stops hourly across the street, with convenient connecting service at the Silverthorne Transfer Center to ski resorts. However, a car is recommended.

The condo is located in a quiet building, so if you plan to party after 10 PM, please seek your lodging elsewhere.

Quiet, clean, and the views are great

  • 5 of 5

Spent 4 days skiing in March and used this condo as our home base while we explored the local resorts. It is centrally located to the resorts as well as what Silverthorne and Dillon have to offer. It has everything we needed, was spacious and clean. Would highly recommend and we will be back.

ski condo review January 2017

  • 4 of 5

The condo was clean and well cared for. Nice views.

When contacting owner on a problem we found with a showerhead.... it was fixed by the next day in the middle of a snowstorm. Would recommend this condo and stay here again.

Nice place, cordial host, good floorplan for groups

  • 4 of 5

The host was very communicative before and during our reservation.

When we arrived we discovered there were two or three things broken by the previous renters but immediately called one of the host contacts and got things straightened out.

This property’s layout was very accommodating for our party of seven people. There were plenty of bedding items, extra chairs, games, and several of the small things that you just seem to forget when going on a trip. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, cutlery. And the pantry had the basics you need like salt and pepper and other spices. Grocery stores are not too far away. All in all it was a great location for preparing your own meals.

We came up for some hiking and motorcycling. And while other vacation rental places in Frisco were turning us away because we had a small trailer for the motorcycles, this place was very accommodating. There was a small unpaved lot next to the parking spaces where we were able to park our trailers. Even though our motorcycles are quiet, we did get dirty looks from one of the locals who I assumed doesn’t like vacationers or maybe motorcycles or both. he he. Otherwise everyone else around the condo was very nice.

This location is on the third floor so the views of the surrounding mountains are very nice and uncluttered. However keep that in mind if you have a lot of luggage or gear because there are actually 3 1/2 flights of stairs you have to go through. :-)

Great host, great price and great location. If we come back to this part of Colorado we will stay here again.

Thanks for sharing your home away from home.

Overall good experience.

  • 4 of 5

The 3 king beds was a definite plus in this unit. There were a few minor issues but our ski group would for sure use this condo again. Make sure you use the GPS coordinates to find the unit because google maps gets lost about half way up the mountain. Also if you are not use to being at elevation this is a 3rd floor walk up and has a loft (being from sea level we were getting pretty winded by the time we got into the condo). Thanks again for a great stay.

If you plan to ski more than five days and sample Keystone, Breckenridge, Arapaho Basin, Vail or Beaver Creek during the ski season, take advantage of the central location of this condo and savings with the EPIC Season Ski Pass, Instead of driving further from one ski resort to the other resorts included on the Epic Pass, be closer to all of them by staying at our place.

Each destination had more than 500 user reviews, but the group was narrowed down to a list of 29 by the cost of a two-bedroom vacation rental (our place has two bedrooms with shared bath and a loft with king size bed and private bath) and near-by warm weather (summer) features.

Ok. I own the condo, so I have a bias for the condo. You can read what others think of the accommodations. Our summer rental rates for the condo are very competitive for the size unit. However, the real value is the multitude of free and low cost activities nearby: free gondola rides on Friday afternoon at Keystone Resort; free concerts on Thursday evenings in Frisco and a great museum featuring the lives and homes of early settlers in the area; free concerts at the Dillon amphitheater on Friday and Saturday evenings; plenty of reasonably priced all you can enjoy activities at Copper Mountain (our pick), Breckenridge, and Keystone; More than fifty historic and breathtaking hiking trails (check out The Summit Hiker; and for those who want to get high without hiking or going to a store in Colorado, you can drive to 12,000+ foot destinations on Rt. 6 at Loveland Pass and Rt. 9 on Hoosier Pass. We're staying with three kids who are loving it all. Rent our place in the Winter for fantastic skiing, but consider renting it in the Summer for a truly memorable summer family vacation.

Instead of paying more in daily rental fees for the use of a small indoor pool and hot tub at some condo complexes. Drive 10 minutes (2.7 miles) from the condo to the Silverthorne Community Recreation Center, with indoor adult and child water park pools, sauna and steam rooms, basketball and racquetball courts, and many other recreational options where you only pay when you use the facilities.

Free county-wide shuttle system, 4 cross country ski centers nearby, or just take off from the condo on a well-marked trail into the national forest, sailing and windsurfing in summer on Lake Dillon, Hot-air Ballooning, Gold-medal trout fishing stream nearby, Factory Outlet Mall for shopping is 5 - 10 minutes away.
