Private and quiet, with room to roam, the Chauncey Creek House is a very special place for all to gather, anytime of the year. The house rests on 600 ft of waterfront on Chauncey Creek, a tidal waterway on Gerrish Island.
Picturesque Kittery Point is part of Kittery, Maine's oldest and southernmost town. Adjacent to York, it retains the unspoiled charm of a historic fishing village.
The Chauncey Creek House has deeded access to Crescent Beach, just a 5 minute walk away and sits on almost two acres of wooded and naturally landscaped property. It borders the neighboring Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge, and the only residential neighbor is across the street on the landward side of the house.
Walk the beautiful terrain and safely enjoy a stroll to the beach along Tower Road, a private, low-traffic road in this rural, residential neighborhood.
A total of 6 guests can sleep enjoy the Chauncey Creek House. The three bedrooms are upstairs (two twins beds in one bedroom and a queen bed in each of the other bedrooms) There are 1¾ baths: one full bathroom upstairs with a vanity sink, beautiful claw foot bath tub with high-end fixtures, and toilet. This bathroom upstairs has two doors- one off the master bedroom and the other off the hallway. The downstairs bathroom has a walk-in shower with high-end fixtures and toilet.
Pets and children are welcomed guests. We have a playpen, gate, and booster seats for your convenience. We have limited fishing supplies and a crab trap.
The home provides a large grassy fenced in lawn for your pet and another for the garden.
The 2,500 sq. ft home welcomes guests with warm, colorful walls, hardwood and soft pine floors and inviting comfortable furniture. The home is a modified cape house, with serene views of the tidal water and National Wildlife Refuge. Access to over 600 feet of water front and pier.
From each room, large windows offer views of the large pine and oak trees and the quiet waterfront beyond. This is a property that friends and family frequent, so guests will find all the necessary conveniences of home like cookware, utensils, spices, oils and serving bowls and trays to present any small or large meal. There are typically basic condiments left in the refrigerator.
The kitchen's large, open floor plan accommodates those that find themselves gathering in the kitchen, awaiting the next delicious meal. The large bay windows allow guests to catch sightings of wildlife and watch the ebb of flow of the creek's tide, just steps away.
The basement is equipped with a ping pong table, picnic supplies and yard and board games. It also has a water view.
There is plenty of scenery from any directions when traveling to Chauncey Creek House, along Maine Route 103 and US HWY 1.
It’s a pretty drive that winds past coastal cottages, salt marshes and forested properties. The rock fences and classic New England homes and historic buildings line the road, as it curves and edges past the water, with views of bobbing lobster boats anchored in the harbor.
Guests are welcome to use the canoe and row boat or bring boats. The property has a private dock and float. However, there is not a boat launch on the property.

About Lucy, manager
Welcome to Kittery Point! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have, since I first discovered it in 1969. I have been the only owner since 1990. I have lived in and around the New England coast and central Maine for many years. I owned and operated a hydrogeology firm until 2006 and now work as a Senior Associate, Hydrogeologist for STANTEC . When I am not in Maine, hiking or boating, I am either living in Orange Beach, AL or traveling to Bequia in Grenadines or Switzerland.
Lucy, manager purchased this House in 1990
Why Lucy, manager chose Kittery
I fell in love with this area many years ago and have many friends in the area that together we enjoy hiking, sailing, and kayaking.
What makes this House unique
The location of the property is ideal because of its proximity to outdoor activities and access to tidal water out the back door, the a private dock. I love sharing with others the great hiking, the beaches, and being on the water.

Perfect Family getaway
This Chauncey Creek property is a perfect getaway. We used it as a family visit after our son's graduation. The house is designed to accommodate 6 people very comfortably. The screened porch with a table was set with fresh flowers and perfect for a morning breakfast. The view, peacefulness and privacy was very needed after a hectic graduation in Boston. We used the canoes, fishing pole that were provided and had several fires in the fire pit outside during the evenings. We even had family guests over for a couple of dinners. There is an office which was perfect for privacy for our daughter who unfortunately had homework to do during the trip and plenty of places to hide away for some quiet time. Walking to the beach from the house is a great daily morning outing. Lucy was incredibly responsive to any requests or emails sent. We will definitely use this house again on another trip!
Lovely secluded property!
Lovely secluded property that was a great weekend retreat for a UNH graduation. The fireplace was cosy and warmed us from the rain. When the sun came out -- the creek was lovely.
Wonderful Christmas in Maine
The property was clean and hospitable. The setting was perfect -- removed from the hustle and bustle of the town, but close enough to get to the services you need. We walked to the ocean each day and it was beautiful. It was unique to be at the ocean during winter and we all enjoyed it. We cooked every evening, and appliances all worked perfectly. Wi-Fi worked well and I read our local paper via Internet daily. The hosts kept in touch to make certain we were comfortable (we were), and local property managers offered to help. No suggestions to make it better -- it was really quite perfect as is.
Thank you ! We try😊
Peaceful and serene backyard and comfortable home
My husband and I spent Nine nights and we really enjoyed the Chauncey Creek house. Our daughter joined us one weekend and she loved it too. We had good weather so the windows were open a lot and sometimes it was even cold enough to close them. On the couple nights that it was warm, the fan in bedroom was enough. There is no AC and being from Florida, I was a little concerned.
We enjoyed the property. I loved the view with the trees and the water. We took beautiful walks right from the property. We found a wooded trial, a beach trail and a nice loop. We also enjoyed the canoe and the tide changes.
I hope to return and found Lucy and David to be very nice people and Lucy was especially responsive when we had questions. I recommend this property! It was our first time dealing with vrbo/ homeaway and I am just waiting in the deposit to be refunded now as Lucy indicated that it would be and that is all done through vrbo.
Cheers to a great vacation!
We had a great stay
Great, relaxing property
A tranquil oasis
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chauncey Creek House. The house is spacious, comfortable and welcoming. The property is in a very private and peaceful setting with room to roam. I loved watching the shorebirds in the creek. It was nice to have the beaches close by and we had the best time watching our 20 month old grandbaby play in the surf for the first time. The memories are priceless :) We had the most amazing family vacation--we'll be back! Thank you!
Sea Point and Crescent Beaches - Sea Point Beach can be accessed at the end of Sea Point Road. Look for the small parking area that marks the entrance to Sea Point Beach. Dogs are allowed on the beach during the day until June 15th. Abide by parking signage-only residents with valid dump stickers are allowed to park at the head of the beach after May 15th. Sea Point's has a 550-yard sandy crescent beach with gentle surf on the north side of a tiny peninsula and is backed by a marsh, providing wonderful bird-watching. Nearby Crescent Beach, also backed by salt marsh, is the 'local' beach, and a great stopping point on a winding bike trip along the coast. Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier- If you’re looking for an authentic lobster-in-the-rough experience, this is the seafood shack for you. Lobsters, steamers, mussels, and all other sorts of fresh seafood are served atop brightly colored picnic tables on a deck overlooking the creek of the same name. It’s BYOB, and many patrons arrive toting an assortment of accessories to enhance the meal — side dishes, tablecloths, candles, bug spray. The view of the water is what makes this an outdoor dining experience not to miss. With the post office just across the street and the town dock tucked down behind The Captain and Patty’s restaurant, which in turn lies directly behind Enoteca, this truly is the hub of Kittery Point. On the other side of Chauncey Creek and the house, along Brave Boat Harbor Road, there is the enterance to 1.8 mile loop trail that takes you through the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge. The closest full service grocery is Hanafords in York. There is a small gas station/deli/grocery about 10 min. drive. It is called Kittery Food Mart (Irving gas). Our house cleaner offers additional services to be negotiated separately such as shopping, errands, meal preparation, additional cleaning, special events, etc. Her website is thehourlywife.com . Her name is Carolyn Heps 603.380.3837
