About Marshea Vitt

Gavin and I searched for many years for the perfect mountain home. Our must haves were so numerous that although we searched high and low, nothing hit the mark. Then, we found the Peaceful Valley Lodge. It was perfect and we fell in love immediately.

Marshea Vitt purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Marshea Vitt chose South Central

The Peaceful Valley Lodge has everything we were looking for right outside our door. It is a full four season vacation spot boasting fishing and hiking in spring and summer, gorgeous fall foliage, and all the winter sports we could possibly want.

What makes this cabin unique

The house is actually round. While this seems odd at first, once you see it, you will immediately understand the logic. The panoramic views of the mountains are simply breathtaking. Those views you see in the pictures are real, and can be what you look out onto daily at PVL!!

We had an excellent stay experience. The owner was very friendly, easy to communicate with and their home felt like a home with great decor and a warm and welcoming feeling. Would highly recommend to anyone that wants to experience the Breckenridge area. We will be back!

Clean and convenient

  • 4 of 5

We had plenty of room, beds were ok and the camp ground below offered space for our trailers and friend with the RV. The hot tub was small we only used it twice because it got dirty quickly. Would be nice to have some treatment packets. Cell phone service is none existent and wyfi calls were poor at best but the internet worked. You need to provide more bear proof trash cans as we ran out of trash storage.

Perfect!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at PVL. We arrived in mid June and was surprised to find a lot of snow right behind the house for the kids to play in. Marshea had us well prepared for arrival with good directions (will lose cell signal) and instructions for opening the house.

The house is spacious with the main living area (small tv) kitchen and Master bedroom upstairs. The upper level is surrounded by large windows that capture the mountain scenes at every angle. The lower level has the remaining two bedrooms (bunk full/twin beds) with a full bath between. Outside the bedrooms is the den area with a large tv (Dish Satellite) and air hockey table. Just outside the lower level door is a 4 person hot tub.

The house appears to sit on a couple of acres of land. There is another house close by but one does not notice it at all due to the tall pines that surrounds the house. The house sits at over 11,000 ft elevation so take a couple of days to adjust before going on any strenuous hikes.

Montgomery Reservoir is a short walk/drive from the house and the sights there are breathtaking. If one fishes, bring your poles and fish for trout (1 day license is $9 for non resident). Hike above the lake and see the abandoned gold mill or pan for gold in the abundant streams that are everywhere in June.

We saw Elk and many deer (just out the Master bedroom window every evening) but sadly, no bear, even though they had obviously been after the trash cans a few times!

The house is well stocked with all the cooking essentials and there is a gas grill on upper deck (did not use). The widows open easily for ventilation or to cool off the house. In mid June the afternoon highs reached about 70 degrees and quickly fell with the Sun going down. The hot tub worked well but we were too busy to enjoy it.

Visit Fairplay and see Southpark City. There is a pretty good Asian restaurant there (Asian Fusion?) also a number of other restaurants as well as a nice well stocked grocery (Prather's Market). Alma is only a few miles away and we enjoyed going to Al-Mart (they have a great selection of Carhartt clothing).

Breck is an easy drive to the north and is full of sights, shops, eats (we loved the Lost Cajun) and drinks. A very fun place to see and hang out. Ride the Gondola to the resort to find many activities to do. It is free to ride and the young ones loved it. Mid week one will not even have to pay to park but it will cost $10 per vehicle on Fri-Mon.

Thank U Marshea & Gavin!

Great Weekend at PVL

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time at PVL. The cabin was spectacular. The place has everything a family could need. We saw roaming families of deer wander through the yard, heavy snowfall (in May) for an afternoon, and beautiful vistas of neighboring peaks right from the comfort of the living room. There was plenty of room outside for games and sports and the hot tub was definitely a bonus considering how cold things get in the evenings at altitude. The owners are wonderfully responsive and had tons of information of the area. All in all if your looking for a great place to relax and enjoy the mountains look no further.

Map

Nearest Ski

Breckenridge

In the summer, hike, fish, mountain bike, go four wheeling, climb a 14er, and watch wildlife just outside your door. Or, do nothing but relax and soak up the fresh mountain air.

In the winter, go snow mobiling, snow shoeing, or skiing or shopping at nearby Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper or A-basin ski resorts. Or, stretch out in front of the fireplace and enjoy that novel that's been on your nightstand for the last year.

Spring and fall seasons are also wonderful times to vacation at the cabin, especially for those who enjoy fishing, hunting and beautiful fall foliage. Of course, you can stop by the South Park Saloon in Alma anytime and join the locals for a drink.
