About Marshea Vitt

Gavin and I searched for many years for the perfect mountain home. Our must haves were so numerous that although we searched high and low, nothing hit the mark. Then, we found the Peaceful Valley Lodge. It was perfect and we fell in love immediately.

Marshea Vitt purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Marshea Vitt chose South Central

The Peaceful Valley Lodge has everything we were looking for right outside our door. It is a full four season vacation spot boasting fishing and hiking in spring and summer, gorgeous fall foliage, and all the winter sports we could possibly want.

What makes this cabin unique

The house is actually round. While this seems odd at first, once you see it, you will immediately understand the logic. The panoramic views of the mountains are simply breathtaking. Those views you see in the pictures are real, and can be what you look out onto daily at PVL!!

Spring Skiing @ it's Best

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have asked for more from this home from home stay for our 2 week ski break. Peaceful, certainly & although just 30 minutes from Breckenridge it might as well have been 100's of miles away in the glorious seclusion of the surrounding wilderness ! After a big supermarket stock up in Frisco we had absolutely everything we needed to cater for ourselves. From simple cornflakes and toast @ breakfast to a full English, popcorn for movie nights to a 3 course Sunday roast - there was every appliance, pot & pan you could dream of plus more ! Mugs, plates, cutlery, glasses (even Martini glasses !) a little dated but more than enough to go round - the dishwasher was a Godsend loaded before going out for the day and ready to unload and start cooking again in the afternoon/evenings. TV, DVD's, games and stunning views abounded - squirrell spotting became a favourite way to while away a little of our lazy time. As a party of 4 we were spoilt for space in this generous sized home which would easily accommodate double that number but it never felt too big - cozy & warm on colder grey days it still filled with natural light and on those bluebird days it was simply stunning. The driveway to the property is steep - but we had no problem accessing with our hire vehicle ( we did have to use hill descent a couple of times due to overnight night snow !) The walks around the property ( up & down !) are beautiful - please do bare in mind it is at altitude and coming from the UK straight from a flight to Denver we did need a couple of days to acclimatize to loose the feeling that we were constantly out of breath ! Hot tub was amazing - too tired in the evenings to open up but had some great mornings watching the sun rise over the mountains with a cup of tea in the plastic beakers provided ! Used as our base for skiing we explored as far away as Cooper ( Eagle County) and Loveland (Eisenhower Tunnel) along with all the resorts in between - the Hoosier Pass became our daily "commute" . We loved this property, Marshea couldn't have done more to help us enjoy her home - thank you for letting us share. We would love to visit again maybe in the fall to see the area "sans snow" - it won't be this year unfortunately but this lodge will remain in our memories and on our wish list ! I can't recommend highly enough and am quite jealous of those of you out there that are close enough to use for a weekend or short break ! Simply Stunning Holiday - thank you again Marshea !

It is absolutely beautiful! Plenty of space, in a perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

I was so impressed with the whole stay. The cabin is beautiful, has plenty of room. Lots of extra stuff for kids, sleds, toys, games, movies, air hockey, which most weren't touched because everyone just enjoyed the nature, snow, and the hot tub. My whole family had the best time of our lives and made wonderful memories here. I would recommend this place to everyone i know. We will be back! Thank you so much for letting us stay in your home.

Lovely getaway

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful scenery surrounds this home. It is a great value that is a bit south of Breckenridge, but not too far. Be prepared for icy conditions around the home and driveway during the winter.

Had a great time at the Peaceful Valley Lodge!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I really enjoyed our time here. We had everything we needed and more! We really loved all of the windows and mountain views. We loved snowshoeing and sledding right out in the front yard. They even provide sleds! It really felt like home, and we would love to come back in the future.

Thank you Marshea!

Great views, at home feel

  • 4 of 5

PVL was a great place for a group outing. We were able to enjoy meals and games around the table, and enjoy the great outdoors right outside the door. Plenty of space to spread out when needed. The Vitt family was very accommodating and responsive, and the place is very well equipped.

My only complaint/s would be the danger of the snow drifts on the roof. One large drift came down during the 2nd day of our stay right over the stairs. Because of this we decided it would be safest to not use the upstairs entrance or the hot tub because of the next impending ice structure coming down. Also, the hot tub on a bit of a slope so even 2 people getting in and you lose a ton of water creating an icy pool on down stairs landing.

Nearest Ski
12 Miles

In the summer, hike, fish, mountain bike, go four wheeling, climb a 14er, and watch wildlife just outside your door. Or, do nothing but relax and soak up the fresh mountain air.

In the winter, go snow mobiling, snow shoeing, or skiing or shopping at nearby Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper or A-basin ski resorts. Or, stretch out in front of the fireplace and enjoy that novel that's been on your nightstand for the last year.

Spring and fall seasons are also wonderful times to vacation at the cabin, especially for those who enjoy fishing, hunting and beautiful fall foliage. Of course, you can stop by the South Park Saloon in Alma anytime and join the locals for a drink.
