This is a beautifully furnished and maintained condo in a private, secure courtyard just a few steps from the beach, great restaurants, bars and coffee houses. Not even a half block from the boardwalk, it's peacefully isolated and has all the amenities one could ask for. Avila Beach is a great getaway and this is the perfect spot to stay.
Location, location.location! This Avila beach townhome was the perfect place to rent for 2 nights over spring break. It was spotlessly clean, roomy, comfortable and had all the modern conveniences that we expected. There was a great selection of DVD's, a keurig coffee maker and the surroundings were very peaceful. Waking up and taking a less than one minute stroll to the beautiful Avila beach was definitely a highlight for us. The main street is very quaint with shops, places to eat and a wonderful coffee shop(Joe momma's] with delicious pastries. We would also like to recommend the breakfast burrito at the Hula Hut- delicious! The locals were all very friendly and were happy to give suggestions about things to do in the area. It is only a short 10 minute drive to downtown San luis Obispo and Cal Poly. We will definitely be renting this townhome again in the near future.
We recently called our granddaughter, a freshman at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, to ask if we could drive down from Northern California and spend the recent long MLK weekend with her--touring the campus, getting to know the area and, of course, seeing her as much as possible. We hadn’t seen her since she left for school and really missed her. Her response was more than we could have hoped for: “Omigosh, I can’t believe it. Most of my friends are going home and this place is going to be dead and it would be great to see you.
And, before she could catch her breath, she asked where we would stay. We told her that we were totally unfamiliar with the area and all we knew about was the Madonna Inn, but would prefer something a little more subdued and intimate.
It was then that we heard for the first time about this condo at Avila Beach--just a few minutes south of the campus. She went on to explain that about a month earlier her dorm roommate’s parents had come to visit and stayed there, and she was invited to spend a night with them. “You’d absolutely love it,” she went on. It’s got all the comforts of home and then some. And it’s almost on the beach.”
Our granddaughter stayed with us (she appreciated getting away from the dorm for a couple of nights). We were literally a few steps from the beach, next door to a great restaurant and surrounded by all kinds of things to do. And, most importantly, we had a wonderful time with our oldest grandchild. Needless-to-say, we’ll be visiting this Avila condo frequently over the next few years. It's a comfortable place in a beautiful spot on the beach.
Best location in Avila. Clean, roomy and has everything. Walk to beach
In seconds and shop, dine and drink within steps of front door. Can't wait to go back
We had 2 relaxing days in great comfort in wonderful surroundings by the beach.
While all was quiet and peaceful, we were in easy driving distance of interesting attractions, shopping and restaurants. For example, we had a nice dinner at the picturesque Madonna Inn.
The property was clean, roomy and attractive.
We rented this wonderful townhouse for our family over the winter break from school. The location is perfect, just steps from the beach and the heart of town which makes for easy access to the Customs House Restaurant and the aquarium down the street. This place had just about everything my family could want: board games, videos, several HD TV's, a well-equipped kitchen and let's not forget the wine fridge and Keurig! I was in heaven with my perfect cup of coffee every morning. Comfy (eco-friendly) beds and a fireplace. Avila has a ton to do -- upscale and quaint; locals are very friendly. The beach is pristine with lots of things for my kids to do and explore (piers, tide-pools, water caves, boogie boarding, etc.). Clean and safe. There were sea otters and sea lions bathing on the rocks. All in December! The weather was perfect. The beach faces south so we were able to enjoy sunrise and sunset each day. We rented hybrid bikes right out the front door and went to Pismo Beach one day for lunch -- almost a 15 mile round trip ride starting on Bobby Jones trail along the golf course and the wineries (right across the street), which led to the beach with amazing views. You could also take the trail all the way into SLO. Speaking of wine, wine-tasting is everywhere. The restaurants in downtown SLO (10 minutes away) are amazing (there was a whole section on SLO restaurants in yesterday's SF Chronicle Sunday paper Jan. 5th). On another day we went to the Sycamore Hot Springs and rented a private tub for an hour. The golf course looks amazing (Avila Beach Golf Resort) and is for sure on my husband's bucket list. We couldn't do enough in the few days we were there and will be definitely heading back. I would recommend Avila and this unit to anyone who has not been there. It is a diamond in the rough.
