About the host

A true Navy brat, I grew up moving all the world before settling in Virginia 42 years ago when I got married. While working and after retiring from a rewarding career with American, my husband and I make travel an integral part of our lives. We love the chance to explore each destination like a local while staying in VRBO homes and enjoy sharing the same kind of hospitality with our guests.

Why they chose this property

We chose to live in Old Town Alexandria because it offers that rare mix of history, walkability, and true neighborhood feel that makes everyday life feel a little special. The cobblestone streets, waterfront views, and beautifully preserved architecture create a sense of place that doesn’t feel like anywhere else.

We love being able to walk to restaurants, coffee shops, and the river, while still feeling like we’re part of a close-knit community rather than a big city. There’s always something happening—farmers markets, festivals, and seasonal events—but it never loses its small-town charm.

Old Town also makes it easy to enjoy the best of the D.C. area without the stress: convenient access to transit, airports, and downtown, yet a quiet, welcoming home base to come back to at the end of the day. It’s a place where history, convenience, and community all come together, and that’s why we chose to make it home.

What makes this property unique

Our home is a rare blend of Old Town history and modern comfort. Built in 1847 and fully renovated, it offers all the charm of a historic townhouse with the conveniences today’s travelers expect—bright, updated interiors, comfortable furnishings, and thoughtful details throughout.

Set on a pretty, tree-lined, and quiet street, the property feels like a peaceful retreat while still placing you right in the heart of Old Town. From the front door, you can stroll to shops, restaurants, the waterfront, and local attractions, all in a safe, walkable neighborhood that feels welcoming at any hour.

This combination of historic character, modern updates, and an ideal location is what makes our place special—and why we’re proud to share it with guests looking for a true Old Town Alexandria experience.
