About the host
Hosted by Rebecca
A true Navy brat, I grew up moving all the world before settling in Virginia 42 years ago when I got married. While working and after retiring from a rewarding career with American, my husband and I make travel an integral part of our lives. We love the chance to explore each destination like a local while staying in VRBO homes and enjoy sharing the same kind of hospitality with our guests.
Why they chose this property
We chose to live in Old Town Alexandria because it offers that rare mix of history, walkability, and true neighborhood feel that makes everyday life feel a little special. The cobblestone streets, waterfront views, and beautifully preserved architecture create a sense of place that doesn’t feel like anywhere else.
We love being able to walk to restaurants, coffee shops, and the river, while still feeling like we’re part of a close-knit community rather than a big city. There’s always something happening—farmers markets, festivals, and seasonal events—but it never loses its small-town charm.
Old Town also makes it easy to enjoy the best of the D.C. area without the stress: convenient access to transit, airports, and downtown, yet a quiet, welcoming home base to come back to at the end of the day. It’s a place where history, convenience, and community all come together, and that’s why we chose to make it home.
