The layout of this home is equally comfortable for a family, a couple or several couples or friends who want to spend time together... yet also have time to themselves. Throughout the year, the two river facing porches and front lawn provided places to gather with others or enjoy alone. The 100 foot dock with 16x20 sitting area allows for a place to lounge in the sun, watch the night sky, launch a boat or a kayak, swim or just float.

About George Bryan
Love of sailing and the water brought Pam, Jeff, Ann and George to buy this retreat together hours from their home in North Carolina. It has proven a welcome retreat for family and friends. Its layout has provided ample room for multi-generational family reunions as well as times to retreat with other couples and friends.
George Bryan purchased this House in 2009
Why George Bryan chose Richland
The proximity to the river and the two front porches that allow for views in any weather was the drawing point for this home. There are river views from all rooms. The 100 foot dock with 16 X20 sitting area at the end of the dock provides space for fishing, crabbing swimming, kayaking or sunning. There is a zip line to tie up your motor boat. Nearby landings to launch a boat.
What makes this House unique
Sandy bottom allows great swimming, fishing and kayaking. Bring your paddle board. Can see sunrise and sunset from the front of the house. The water is always changing and we love to see the dolphins pass by.

Thanksgiving at Belhaven House
This is a wonderful home and location. I thought it might be too far out at first but I was really, really wrong! This home has everything you could possibly need for any length of stay. We were there 5 days through Thanksgiving. It was so quiet and peaceful. The weather could not have been better... We fished off the pier, and roasted oysters (from a local the owner recommended) we had to wait for the boats to come in that afternoon so they could not have been fresher. I recommend to anyone looking for a serene place to have some downtime. The sun rise and sun sets are amazing. Thank you for sharing this with us...
We enjoyed having you stay!
Well stocked kitchen, wonderful to use crab pots, kayaks, lawn games. Very large home.
Our families, 9 people total, loved this space. Beautiful front porch for coffee drinking while watching butterflies, osprey, hummingbirds. Beautiful lawn to relax on during the day while kids swam, fished and played lawn games. Experienced our first crab boil from crabs caught on site! Saw dolphins in the distance and lots of small fish jumping nearby. Nice to be able and take our dogs along on vacation. We would stay here again.
Thanks! The baby Ospreys in the nest just off the dock are now stretching their wings in anticipation of a first flight.
This is a great home for big families or large groups. Thank you again for sharing your home.
College Reunion Getaway
My friends and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this wonderful waterfront property on the beautiful Pamlico River as a vacation destination. Situated in a quiet neighborhood,it is private and comfortable, spacious yet cozy-a great spot for inside AND outdoor fun. The closed in porch facing the water is our favorite spot. But this rental is ideal for fishing, kayaking, strolling, bird-watching, star-gazing and sunbathing...the whole spectrum of vacation fun. We enjoyed many meals at home and wrapped it up with a delicious farewell dinner dinner at Spoon River in nearby BellHaven. Can't wait to return to this magical place...thanks, Ann and George!!!!!
Something for everyone. Great location for fishing, boating, swimming. Convenient to Bath and Belhaven. Enjoyed Fossil Museum in Aurora. Cozy home with every amenity for a relaxing outdoor escape. Amazing sunrises and sunsets. We spent all our time on the dock, in the water or staring at it from cozy spots in the house (there are many). Great layout for a large family. Dogs loved it too. Hope to return!
Great Family Vacation
Just got back home from a wonderful family vacation. We really enjoyed having a place to stay with our 3 adult children and their spouses. In all we had nine stay at the property and there was plenty of space for everyone and the layout of the house offered large spaces where everyone could sit together and quiet places where you could sit by yourself and relax. The dock and the view of the sound are a focal point of the house and we spent a lot of time on the dock and on the back porch.
The home is on a dead end street in a very quiet rural area. We enjoyed the privacy and the quiet of the area with the sound of the waves and the birds being the background sound for our stay.
If you like the water our kids swam every day off of the dock with a nice sandy bottom in water that was about 3 1/2 to 4 foot deep with a very gentle slope . The fishing off of the dock was excellent with a few flounder being caught plus lots of pin fish and croakers. We also caught 15 blue crabs in the crab pots and ate fresh crab on Fri night.
Thank you George for your hospitality and sharing your wonderful house with our family.
Remote, quiet and peaceful setting that provides year round ever changing water and sky panoramas. Easy access to swimming or boating off dock with zip line if you bring your own power boat. Nearby boat landings. Restaurants and museums within miles. Take a day trip to the Outerbanks to swim and beach and return to a quiet retreat and sunset. This home is handicap accessible including accessories.
Boat ramps - Potter's Marina is on North Creek just west of the property and North Creek is a wind protected creek making access easy for smaller boats. It cost $5 to launch. Wright's Creek is a State ramp located on Wilkins Road east of the property and the ramp is much closer to the house but the water access is further and not as protected - south on the Pungo then west on the Pamlico by water to the house.
Boat docking overnight can occasionally be problematic. The Pamilco can "blow" and when it does there are short frequent waves. The home has a zip line but rough waves would require monitoring of the boat. There are cleats on the dock but when the waves are toward shore the boat would be "beat" on the dock. Some residents anchor their boats through rough water. As with any water, boaters need to keep an eye on the forecast for their safety and the protection of the boat.
