Welcome to Chalet Alpine in the famed Hound Ears Club, Blowing Rock, North Carolina. Centrally located among the communities of Blowing Rock, Boone, Banner Elk and Valle Crucis, and minutes from the Blueridge Parkway, Chalet Alpine is tucked away in one of the most sought-after gated communities in the High Country.

Chalet Alpine is an inviting and secure place to visit where you can relax, renew and refresh. It allows you to drink in four distinct seasons: a rejuvenating spring, a coveted cool summer climate, dazzling fall colors and a blanket of white in the winter.

Fully remodeled in November 2013, Chalet Alpine offers you European alpine cabin design: custom carpentry, hardwoods, natural stone, cozy fireplace and expansive deck.

From the landmark massive chimney and steep wood-shingled roof to the interior rustic furniture from a local artisan, Chalet Alpine is professionally designed and tastefully decorated with charm in mountain cabin style.

Brand-new, fully-stocked kitchen, complete with new cabinets, high-grade granite tops and stainless steel appliances; two brand-new bathrooms, Kohler bathtub and frameless glass shower, spacious great room with exposed beam ceilings and gas fireplace; three bedrooms with plush king bed in master, two queens in the second and a full in the third. A "bird's nest" has proven to be children's favorite.

Free WiFi, Netflix and unlimited local and long-distance calling, top-of-the-line HD TVs and washer and dryer, and a gas grill are included.

The area surrounding Hound Ears Club is known for the 'Two R's' - relaxation and recreation. Once rested, you may be ready to explore the great outdoors by hiking, biking, fishing, canoeing and kayaking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, tubing, or skiing, whether the Blueridge Parkway, Bass Lake, Trout Lake, Julian Price National Park, Tweetsie Railroad or Grandfather Mountain.

About Arion & Wendy Skenderi

We love to travel and explore the world. North Carolina High Country's beauty has drawn us for many years and we are thankful to have our place from where we can enjoy it all.

Arion & Wendy Skenderi purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Arion & Wendy Skenderi chose Blue Ridge Mountains

Walking the streets around our property and gazing at the beauty of the surrounding landscape with truly massive boulders and alpine architecture throughout reminded us of when we lived in Central Europe. We felt transplanted into a Swiss or Bavarian village and so will you.

A Family Week

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Chalet Alpine. We were not in the cabin as much as we would have liked as this was a family vacation and we were across the street with all our relatives enjoying their company. The cabin is beautiful and very private. We would definitely go stay there again and can recommend it with no hesitation.

Beautiful and cozy!

  • 5 of 5

Three couples all enjoyed it. Beautiful and a way-nicer than average fit into the local Boone/Blowing Rock area.

Very Good

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful weekend getaway at Chalet Alpine. Arion was very helpful and quick to respond to any questions. The home was clean and everything to need was already available. We are looking forward to staying there again, perhaps with our extended family.

Too bad you can't smell pictures

  • 1 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for five days. We were so excited, even as we were walking up the steps to the front door. As soon as my husband opened the door, we both just kind of looked at each other. The smell. A strong musty odor was wafting out from the inside, kind of like an old terrarium that you might keep a pet frog in.

We thought the cabin itself was beautiful, and the setting was as well, we were just disappointed that the smell was so strong. Neither one of us have allergies, but we had issues with sneezing and watery eyes the entire time we stayed. It made me wonder if there was a mold problem at some point. I never saw any mold, but the smell and all the sneezing certainly made me worry.

There were a few other small details that made me wonder how often the owners visit the property: the kitchen smoke detector had a dead battery, some of the lamps were broken (would switch on / off by themselves). Nothing that I would have even noticed if it weren't for that smell...

When we came home, it was a bit difficult to get the smell out of our clothes. I had a thick sweater that required two washings before I could get the smell out.

I can't in all honesty recommend this property to anyone. The pictures of the property are accurate (though it would have been nice to know that the deck overlooked the street). However, you can't smell pictures...

Owner's Response: We are disappointed about this review, as we work hard to ensure all our guests have an enjoyable stay at Chalet Alpine. It’s confusing to us, since when we checked with you toward the end of your stay, you responded positively: “We are loving your place and having a great time! It’s so beautiful here.” We wonder if, perhaps, the negative review posted two months after your stay was in response to our confirmation then that we could not find your lost computer cord, despite our fervent attempts to do so. We have a CleanSpace vapor barrier in the crawlspace with a humidifier. But just to be sure that there is actually no mold problem in the cabin, we did have it checked. There are no issues with the air quality, and we have received several 5-star reviews from guests following your stay.

A lovely mountain get-away

  • 5 of 5

We loved our week at Chalet Alpine. The house is amazing as are the surroundings. We loved getting away to the mountains, but having modern amenities while we were there! Our hosts made the visit flow so smoothly. They provided us all the information we needed for an easy check-in and check-out.

Comfy home for a getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, along with a few couples, enjoyed this home as a getaway for his 30th birthday. The home was comfortable and had a nice "mountain feel." In addition to being in a gated neighborhood that was in close proximity to Boone and skiing, the house has great TVs which were crucial to watching the big games that weekend. The owners are amazing - quick to respond to questions and they went out of their way to be helpful to us in every way possible. Looking forward to coming back with our family next year!
