Lovely cottage with beautiful views of the ocean. It is very peaceful here.A perfect place for us to relax and do some sightseeing of the Redwoods.

The cottage is spacious ,clean and decorated beautifully.Bed is very comfortable, plenty of towels and a great hot shower. We enjoyed a lovely sunset on the deck. There is a grill on deck and fully equipped kitchen.Met the owners who were friendly and helpful.Would stay again if back in area.

What a slice of heaven!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Peter and Nicky's cottage during our stay in Brookings, one of my favorite parts of the world. The cottage is charming and spotless with wonderful views. One morning I watched 4 Northern Flickers in one tree and another morning we were treated to a covey of at least 15 California Quail in the yard. Birder heaven. It is so peaceful at the cottage, it's hard to get up and out to explore, but do because it's a really beautiful area. Just a little south and you are in old growth Redwood forests and the Oregon and Northern California coasts are stunning everywhere we've visited. Peter was very helpful with suggestions. I read a review that said the road to get to the cottage is difficult. We had no problem in our rental Toyota Corolla. The elevation is part of why you get the amazing views and serenity. Peter said some people fault the kitchen. If you are a gourmet cook and that's one of the things you like to do on vacation, then no, the kitchen might not suite you. We made a hot breakfast with eggs, etc. every morning and it was quite functional. There is also a grill on the deck. We will certainly visit this area again and this is the first place I'll check for availability. We hated to leave. Thank you Peter & Nicky!

Very relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a great experience. The cottage is tastefully decorated, comfortable, clean, and quiet. The weather was clear, warm and sunny. We could see the moon reflecting on the ocean from the cottage windows. The local farmer's market was an awesome find for fresh food and home made goodies. Many State beaches to explore. Beautiful coastline. Very memorable trip. Thank you Peter and Nicki for providing such a nice place for us to stay.

Property is great!

  • 3 of 5

Property is lovely and the cottage is very comfortable and cozy. Out of 11 nights, we were only there 2. First we were delayed from home for business reasons, and then once we got there we were evacuated due to fire coming over the ridge behind us on the 2nd day. There was so much smoke and ash that you couldn't see the ocean. We'd love to go back when things all settle down though.

Owner's Response: Hi guys! I'm so sorry for what happened during your vacation trip. Wildfires?? I'm sorry you didn't get to experience the property for the time you had booked. It's not close to being over, so far 130thousand acres has burnt up, it's still 3 miles away from us, so I hope we still be here after this is over. Please come back sometime and really enjoy our place when there are no forest fires, and we will discount your stay. Hope you got your money back without any problems. Nicky says hi. Peter

Nice View....When the Fog Clears

  • 3 of 5

Nice folks...Nikki greeted us and explained the property. Coffee and bottled water was provided. The well water had a sulphur odor, and the hot water capacity was not good. Ran out of hot water in the shower. Comfortable bed. The drive from the main road is steep, narrow, and winding. Sat TV was good, wi--fi was not. The connection was very spotty.

Owner's Response: Every now and then you get somebody that just have to complain about something. Fog? We can't really be expected to control the coastal climate. Also the road that connects us to hwy 101? If you want a view somehow you have to get higher up in elevation, hence the narrow winding road to get there. If you don't want to be in the country setting where there might be a little inconvinient to get to, then find a place in the city. You have complained about things we have zero control over. Think about that next time you are writing a review. Peter∋cky Oh and one more thing, You can't run out of hot water it's a "on demand" water heater fueled by propane. So thanks for the "bum"review. I think you just like to find something to be negative about. Ought to try to change that outlook on things in life

Brookings offers a variety of activities because of it's location on the Banana-belt of the Oregon coast the climate is very mild, my property is situated south of town which will show a lot less of the northwesterly winds that are relevant in the summer months. There are miles of hiking trails in the woods just outside my gate, wildlife is in abundance from deer, elk and variety of birds
