Notes:
This area is famous for it's localvore restaurants, incredible local cheeses (Jasper Hill Cellars wins best of class internationally every year), Hill Farmstead Brewery won best brewery in the world 2013 and the Alchemist's Heady Topper is an award winner of the same class. Caledonia Spirits won double gold medals 2013, and it is fortunate that this area is perfect for all manner of outdoor sports, as you'll need to burn all that off! For those interested in unique experiences, Bread and Puppet Museum is nearby, as is The Museum of Everyday life; both fascinating experiences. The St. Johnsbury Athenaeum and Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium are 1/2 hour away and worth the trip. There are trails to walk or ski, mountains to climb, waterfalls and lakes to swim in; all manner of good fun.

Beautiful place and view!

  • 5 of 5

My family and rented the apartment to be close to a family wedding. It was the perfect location. The apartment is very nice looks fairly new and has all the conveniences of home. Grace was nice enough to share her chickens' eggs which of course we had for breakfast.

Her gardens are beautiful! Very serene setting. I wished we could have stayed longer.

My husband forgot his pillow and Grace was kind enough to ship it to us. Very thoughtful!

The only slight negative was the day bed in the living room. I think it would be fine for a child but a bit uncomfortable for my adult daughter.

We would definitely stay here again!

Owner's Response: Hi Linda, I'm sorry the daybed wasn't comfortable - I had not had any other feedback to that effect on it, so appreciate your feedback. It was good to have you up; we hope to see you again. Best, Grace

Gorgeous view, Quiet space and Nice people

  • 5 of 5

This is our first experience with HomeAway and it was a most pleasant one. The apartment over the garage where we stayed was comfortable and well equipped. Our host was gracious but not intrusive. The garden around the house was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. Sitting on the deck sipping wine with miles of vista in front of us was a calming joy. We slept well, enjoyed scrambled eggs for breakfast using eggs provided by our host from her chickens, and were able to truly relax. We highly recommend the place.

Lovely vacation retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a lovely week in Vermont as guests of Grace and Kip! The apartment is clean, airy and welcoming. Grace's gardens are incredibly beautiful and we enjoyed fresh raspberries and blueberries straight out of the garden as well as eggs from the "girls." Grace is a warm and gracious host and we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the Vermont countryside. We hope to return in the future!

5 star review - nothing disappoints!!!

  • 5 of 5

Panoramic views indeed! The apartment, the setting, and the host exceeded our expectations. Incredibly clean and very comfortable, my family enjoyed a very relaxing four days here in August. Grace is suburb host, who made us feel quite at home. The area has good hiking spots and places to explore. You won't be disappointed!

Beautiful and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We were so happy to stay in this beautiful, roomy apartment that feels like a home. It was very clean, comfortable and the views were awesome. The kitchen was fully stocked and we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast of fresh scrambled eggs from the chickens we watched. We ate breakfast and dinner outside on the deck overlooking Grace's beautiful, extensive garden adorned with flowers and rock sculptures. Grace was very friendly and helpful. We came up for our son's wedding but we hope to return to this peaceful haven again!

Just what you're looking for

  • 5 of 5

Picture perfect view of hills, farms and horses from the property and the private porch. We were there in summer. Excellent apartment in great shape, lots of windows, comfortable beds, all very clean, a nicely designed kitchen with two windows. Owner, Grace, is very friendly and helpful. The house is surrounded by her amazing gardens. The apartment feels very private even though it adjoins Grace's house. (There's only the one apt.) The property is on a well-graded and packed dirt road dotted with organic farms, horses, and all-around Vermont-ness. Hardwick has a couple of very good places to eat and drink and a good farmer's market occasionally (ask Grace). We can't wait to go back.

This is great country to bike, ski, walk, hike, and paddle. We have incredible natural beauty, lots of room to play, and good food and drink with which to celebrate it all. We are at the center of the localvore, organic food movement, a short drive to Hill Farmstead Brewery, winner of Best Brewery in the World 2013, nearby is the Alchemist, another award winning brewery. Caledonia Spirits produces medal winning gin and vodka, we are home to the Buffalo Mountain Food Coop, Pete's Greens, and Jasper Hill Farm, winner of multiple Best Cheese awards. Life is good :)
