Acerca de este alojamiento
High Country Compound in the CO Rocky Mountains - Hot Tub, 2x King Beds, Firepit
The High County Compound is your mountain homebase near the Pike National Forest, minutes from Florissant Fossil Beds, Colorado Wolf & Wildlife Center, and 11-Mile Reservoir. This 3-bed, 2-bath retreat sleeps 6 with two king beds and one en suite bath. Enjoy a basement game room (billiards, foosball, darts) and a 1,000-sf cedar deck with hot tub, grill, firepit, and dining area. Inside, return to rustic design, live-edge handmade woodwork, and a private workspace—set on over an acre of forest.
High County Compound is a 1,725 square foot mountain retreat located in the Arabian Acres subdivision just off Highway 24 near Divide, Colorado. Tucked into the trees yet conveniently accessible, this ranch-style home with walkout basement is designed for comfort, recreation, and relaxed mountain living. The home comfortably sleeps six with room to spare, offering a balanced blend of rustic design and modern convenience.
Driving up to the property, the 40-foot driveway accommodates two 20-foot vehicles parked in-line. The dirt roads leading to the home are plowed during winter months; however, four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive is strongly recommended from January through April. As with all mountain properties, weather conditions can change quickly, and we do not provide refunds due to inclement weather.
Entering the home, the open-concept living, dining, and workspace areas flow naturally together. The rustic stone gas fireplace anchors the living room, complemented by an L-shaped leather sectional that invites you to settle in after a day outdoors. A custom, handmade pine live-edge dining table and matching bar top create a warm gathering space, while a dedicated workstation allows you to stay productive even while enjoying the mountains.
Passing through the entry corridor, the L-shaped kitchen is thoughtfully arranged for meal preparation and culinary creativity. The fully stocked kitchen features stainless steel appliances, a dishwasher, rustic wood cabinetry, and a hammered copper farmhouse sink that complements the home’s high-country aesthetic.
Down the hallway are the three bedrooms and hall bath. The hall bathroom features rustic pine tongue-and-groove walls, a three-foot tiled shower, and a 30-inch vanity, serving two of the bedrooms. Across from the hall bath is a small bunk room designed specifically for children. This space-saving bunk setup is intended for kids and is not designed for adult use. Continuing down the hallway are two full-sized bedrooms, each equipped with king beds, rustic pine side tables, in-room safes, full-length mirrors, and televisions. The master suite includes a small walk-in closet and a private en suite bathroom complete with rustic pine tongue-and-groove walls, a 30-inch vanity, and a deep soaking tub with shower combination.
The basement game room and laundry facilities are accessed from the main living and dining area via approximately fifteen standard stairs. Downstairs, guests will find a recreation space outfitted with a billiards table, foosball, darts, a 50-inch television, and live-edge bar top seating. Complimentary laundry facilities are conveniently located just off the game room.
The entire home is heated via electric baseboard heat, with individual thermostats in each room—either wall-mounted or integrated at the base unit in bathrooms—allowing guests to tailor comfort levels throughout the house.
Just off the main dining and living area is the 1,000 square foot cedar amenity deck, the centerpiece of the outdoor experience. The deck features a four-person hot tub, a gas firepit surrounded by Adirondack seating for six, a three-burner gas grill, and outdoor dining seating, all illuminated by warm LED string lighting. Surrounded by over an acre of forest, the deck offers privacy and space to unwind under Colorado’s expansive skies.
The home operates on municipal gas and electric but utilizes a private 350-gallon well system. Water conservation is strongly encouraged and required. The well can run dry if excessive water is used and requires recharge time; refunds are not provided if water supply is depleted. Guests must maintain responsible water usage consistent with the occupancy limit of six.
High County Compound offers the perfect balance of adventure and retreat—spend your days exploring the surrounding mountains and return home to continue the experience in a thoughtfully designed, amenity-rich mountain compound.
Guests have full access to the entire 1,725-square-foot home with the exception of the basement utility and cleaner storage room. The property is accessed via a smart lock located on the front, south-facing door, which serves as the primary entrance. Additional exterior doors may be used during your stay, though they are intended as secondary access points rather than the main entry.
I reside in Peyton, Colorado—approximately 1.5 hours away—and travel frequently. As a result, I am not available for in-person assistance. All communication will be handled promptly through the VRBO app to ensure a seamless and well-documented guest experience.
SNOW:
During winter months, particularly January through April, AWD or 4WD is strongly recommended. While county roads are plowed, conditions can change quickly at this elevation and traction is essential for safe access. As with all mountain properties, refunds are not provided due to weather-related travel challenges.
WATER:
The home operates on a private 350-gallon well, so mindful water usage is required. The well can run dry if excessive water is used and requires recharge time. Guests must conserve water appropriately based on the maximum occupancy of six. Refunds are not provided in the event the well requires recharge due to overuse.
AIR CONDITIONING:
The home does not have central air conditioning. At approximately 8,000 feet in elevation, air conditioning is rarely needed due to cool mountain evenings. A small swamp cooler is provided for additional comfort during warmer days.
TRASH SERVICE
Trash service occurs on Wednesdays. Guests staying over a Wednesday may be asked to place the designated trash container at the roadside for pickup.
