A perfect and private retreat
We have recently returned from a two week stay at this lovely villa . I would totally agree with all the previous reviews as an accurate representation of the villa and surrounding area. There has been a huge amount of thought and hard work put into making this an ideal holiday rental by the charming owners. An information file has been provided in the villa which was invaluable. Mehmet, who was the local contact ,was very helpful and kind. He also has excellent restaurant recommendations and contacts for taxis, boat trips in surrounding area.
Johan, the owner , provided us with excellent help and advice before we went on holiday and whilst there.
A car is essential as the villa is at the top of a hill and you need transport to get to the supermarket and restaurants further afield. There are restaurants and small food shops walking distance from the villa .
There are plenty of water sports and sailing available locally but we struggled to leave the beautiful pool area and gardens and terraces during the day. Very relaxing and private.
I have no hesitation in recommending this villa.
very beautiful, luxury and peaceful house
the house is really beautiful, every little detail in the decoration is just a perfection. and that's also a really cool place with an amazing kitchen with all the best equipment, a perfect size swimming pool with a nice view. You can walk to the beach, it is located in the center of the peninsula so you can easily take your car to visit the beaches around.
the organisation (welcome team, cleaning) is also very well.
We all thought it was the best house we ever rented and It is a pleasure for me to recommend it to everybody.
very beautiful, peaceful, convenient house
the house is beautiful, every small detail in the design is a pleasure for the eyes. It is also a very easy house, the kitchen has everything you need, the swimming pool is the perfect size with a beautful view, you can walk to the beach from the house. and from what I saw from bodrum peninsula, that's probably the nicest house in the area.
there are 2very nice ladies to welcome you and answer all your questions. Cleaning is done twice a week and this was just perfect.
We spent a week at this very nice and authentic home. The entire complex is built to very standards, the pool has amazing views. We adored the ambience, the garden is also very private and peaceful.
We had an amazing time, and the owners are very helpful and responsive.
You will need to have a car, but everything is quite close by.
We highly recommend staying there.
Beautiful house for friends wanting to relax.
Spent a wonderful week with friends in this villa.
It is set within a stone village.
At first you are worried that you won't have the same privacy as villas which stand apart in the traditional fully detached way.
But the de Ruiter family's property is built into the walls and in such a way as to be above the other properties and you have uninterrupted views and feel incredibly independent.
The house itself is cleverly designed across quite a few levels - so I felt that we could all escape one another which is important if travelling with friends or families! It was lovely, for example, to be able to choose different tables at which to have dinner - either informal in the pool side table, or formal on the other terrace, or cosy at the indoor dining table (useful if you're coming in Autumn)
Johan the owner had loads of candle holders so we were able to decorate the terraces with atmospheric candlelight during the evenings :-)
I loved being able to walk into the nearby village/town rather than having to rely on the car all the time. It helps to stave off the cabin fever that some people feel!
Johan's notes and tips on local eateries was incredibly thoughtful - it makes staying somewhere new so much easier.
Thank you so much for a wonderfully relaxing stay in your beautiful home.
What a fantastic house - we had the most wonderful week staying here. The setting is perfect, with views down to the bay and across to Kos, and despite it being hot in Turkey in August, there is a lovely cooling breeze most of the time making it very pleasant to sit out.
The house is beautifully furnished and equipped, with everything you could want for a relaxing week away from home, and there is plenty of space to sit outside in a number of different areas, all equally pretty. The infinity pool is stunning - great views, a decent length for serious swimming and with a jet stream to make you work a bit harder! The village staff were incredibly warm and helpful, despite some language barriers, and the whole village is kept very clean and tidy.
The location of the house is perfect for exploring the area, particularly the beaches with their waterside restaurants, and the city of Bodrum which is always buzzing with activity and colour.
The owner provided excellent customer service, both before we arrived and during our visit - and clearly wanted to make sure that absolutely everything was working to our liking. All in all, we would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the house to friends, and are determined to go back there ourselves before too long. A great holiday!
Nice to hear that our hard work is rewarding
Ortakent is a peaceful town and one of the oldest human settlements in the area, a 10 min walk along a valley with citrus groves, olive, mandarin and fig trees. The seaside town of Ortakent Yahsi is 900 mts. from the villa, a favourite with the locals with its sandy beaches and good restaurants. The water is so clean (“Blue Flag”) and wind conditions so fantastic that it got a large sailing area. The Greek island of Kos is within sight. Bodrum or ancient Halicarnassus, the St. Tropez of Turkey, is 7 km away. Boats start to the Greek islands of Kos, Rhodos, Simi, also the magnificent “Blue Voyages”. It features a magnificent Castle, the Myndus Gate, the Ottoman Shipyard Tower and a Museum of Underwater Archeology. It hosts several cultural festivals - notably the Ballet Festival in August, pop concerts at the Castle or in the 2000 year Amphitheatre. It features the biggest open air disco in Europe with a capacity of 4000 people. Ephesus is 2 hrs by car.
Other Activities: parasailing, scuba diving
Golf: Ortakent features a 5 hole academy golf course in 2 km from the villa. Two 18 hole master golf courses can be found in 30 km distance.
Ski: Ortakent features sailing, wind surfing, parasailing, motor boating, jetski, waterski. In Bodrum there are many companies offering scuba diving.
