The apartment was adequately clean but definitely needed better cleaning. The kitchen was mostly stocked. The bed was comfortable. The fireplace was a nice touch. The rooftop garden was excellent. The owner was very nice and around so if you have any issues he was available. The bathtub was a little inconvenient. Pretty looking but when you go to use it kind of difficult. No where to put your shampoo and soap. Parking was ample.
Overall a 4 is a fair rating because it was not everything but mostly good.
Beautiful location, great place to stay!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Santa Barbara especially because of the location. The rooftop garden is charming and unique. I found the home to be cozy and quaint. There was an instruction booklet which included helpful information for those who don’t know the area. It was a nice touch. I recommend staying here!
We had a such a great time and Sandy had great communication!
Lovely place, fantastic location, great host
We spent 5 nights at this property and visited Santa Barbara and Channel Islands. It was a great place to stay and we'd definitely stay here again if we return to the area.
The unit is one of the 3 units in a large historic house with fantastic location: only steps away from the State street (restaurants and shopping), walking distance from the Amtrak station, and only about 5 minutes away from the beech and the SB pier. Although so central, the location was very quiet and peaceful. Train can be heard but it did not bother us at all.
The unit is large and very comfortable. One super comfortable king size bed and one queen size sleeper sofa that we did not use (it was only 2 of us). Bathroom is off of the bedroom and would be tight to use if there were 4 people - particularly if they are not part of the close family. Kitchen is large, well equipped and stocked with some basics like oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, some spices, etc. Living room and dining room are spacious and comfortable. Laundry with the large washer and dryer is available on the premises which is super convenient.
We did not get to meet the host as we spent most of our days visiting the area but we efficiently communicated by texts. It would be lovely if we had the chance to meet the owners but we were not there when they stopped by. Next time...
Overall, this is a lovely place that we'd be happy to return to.
Chapala Gardens was everything we expected it to be. It was a charming, comfortable historic home in a great location. Close to the beach and close to downtown, yet on a quiet street. Sandy was readily available by text or phone.
Great location and lovely apartment
Just excellent. No complaints at all . If you are going to Santa Barbara you should stay here. Right in the heart of things, yet within 100 metres of the beach. Can walk 2 minutes from the station or park outside. Perfect place
