Overview

About the property

4 Bedroom 6 1/2 Bath Private Hawaiian Resort 7th night free**

From its envious position at a cool elevation of 1000 feet on the slopes of Mount Hualalai, to its 270 degree panoramic views of Keauhou Bay and miles of the Kona coastline, this secluded luxury estate on 5 fenced and gated acres is surrounded by lush, tropical foliage. It has been said that this architecturally significant residence boasts the most amazing views available on the Big Island. The residence was also featured on the cover of Island Home magazine. Privacy and security are assured from the moment you enter the gate and proceed down the sweeping, palm tree lined drive to the main residence.

Upon entry to Hale Wailele you are greeted by magnificent koi ponds and the sound of waterfalls in your private courtyard.

MAIN HOUSE LIVING AREA: The Great Room features 18 foot vaulted ceilings and an open floor plan that encompasses a gourmet kitchen and dining/living areas. The interiors have been professionally designed and offer a luxurious yet comfortable respite. Floor to ceiling pocket doors open onto the lanais to bring the outdoors in. The gourmet kitchen will be the envy of any chef and is equipped to host parties large or small. The kitchen features a large island and a handy breakfast bar where guests can gather and chat with the chef of the party. Adjacent to the kitchen is an intimate media room and an open air tropical bar perfect for pre-dinner cocktails.

OUTDOOR LIVING AREA: Over 2000 square feet of Honed Beaumaniere French Limestone floors (imported from France by the original owners) flow seamlessly around the home. Both covered and open air patios feature plush chaise lounges and resort style furnishings surrounding the custom infinity edge pool and spa. This area is perfect for enjoying the beautiful Kona sunsets while sipping a tropical cocktail. The fun does not end after the sun sets as the area magically comes to life with the lighting of the tiki torches. Arrange your own private Luau complete with Hula lessons and fire dancers. Ideal location for intimate weddings.

SUITES OF THE HOUSE: The house is comprised of 3 separate pavilions which are connected via Honed Beaumaniere French Limestone walkways. The King Master Suite with his and her bathrooms is housed independently in pavilion 1. Pavilion 2 houses the main living area as well as two additional King bedded suites. Pavilion 3 houses the 4th King bedded suite (aka Ohana).

All of the suites are equipped with private bathrooms, televisions as well as their own outdoor lounge areas. It is rare to find a vacation rental where up to 4 couples can retreat to their own private spaces.

There is no need for air conditioning in this home as the near constant trade winds fan a delightful gentle breeze over the property. If you are looking for absolute luxury in a breathtaking setting than this Hawaiian vacation rental has it all. You will never tire of gazing at the magnificent views and swaying palm trees while enjoying the cool tropical breeze.

If you can tear yourself away from this property the Kona coastline is waiting to be explored.

Why Karen Hill chose Kona Coast

The architect who designed this house is known as the "Frank Lloyd Wright" of Hawaii. His designs all fit seamlessly into the landscape as does Hale Wailele and its beautiful separation of areas allowing for privacy and yet community when desired. The dramatic entrance, sweeping views, and a his and her bathroom in the master sealed the deal (as did the Realtor's Mai Tai's!)

What makes this estate unique

On 5 acres so it feels secluded yet so close to everything

4 bedrooms all with separate outside areas for privacy and seclusion

Incredible sweeping views of the Kona Coastline

Amazing Sunsets

18' vaulted ceilings

Indoor- outdoor flow- we rarely close the doors

Notes:
Hale Wailele is home to a number of little green Geckos very similar to the “Geico Insurance Gecko” seen in TV commercials. These Hawaiian Geckos, harmless to humans, are very good at hunting and controlling insects and do a lot less talking than their “Gieco” counter-parts with the British accent. A little known fact is that this Hawaiian Gecko was the alternate pick for Hawaii State mascot for 3 consecutive years. Lots of guests, especially kids, find these little guys really cute with their little suction cups for toes on their feet. Hale Wailele uses a nationally well known professional pest control service that specifically treats for Mosquitoes, on regular basis, which are so common in the tropics. Additionally Hale Wailele provides some personal insect repellent for an added layer of protection if guests so desire, as it is very difficult to control these “Mozzies” (as we call them), 100%. Some guests have a personal preference of insect repellent that they may choose to use.

Amazing Staycation

  • 5 of 5

We could not have imagined a better place to have a staycation with our friends! Big thank you to Steve and Heather for being so helpful when we had questions or needed assistance during our time at Hale Wailele. Also thank you to Owner Karen for promptly answering any questions we had before our stay. We are forever grateful to have been able to enjoy your gorgeous property...we hope to return someday when our daughter is older. Much love & aloha, Ross & Lindsay

We never wanted to leave the beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

Our small group of friends all agreed that words could just not describe how incredible this home is. It is so well-designed for having private space (bedroom suites) and common area (living room, dining room, kitchen and ALL the outside space!) And the fantastic infinity pool and hot tub with vista views of the ocean and sunset every night! We had plans to do the usual tourist things and managed to swim with the dolphins but mostly everyone just wanted to relax, relax, relax at home. The care givers (Heather and Steve) were always available but never intrusive. They could not have been more helpful and are super nice people. The photos on the website do not do the home justice! It is so private; you see no other homes. You are surrounded by a tropical forest and your view from anywhere in the home is of tree tops, beautiful potted plantings (placed also for views from windowed showers) or ocean. The most upscale of amenities including all, and I mean ALL kitchen appliances and generous welcome items (each bathroom had complimentary groupings of personal items) and enough food and beverage items to keep you from having to grocery shop for days! The first day we were there we were planning a return.....not necessarily for Kona but for this HOME! Hardest thing was to leave this slice of paradise. Thanks to the owners for allowing others to share their lovely home. Karen Brookings

Amazing location for our Hawaiian wedding!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I (and our bridal party) had an amazing week at Hale Wailele in May 2017. The property is breathtaking; meticulously maintained, gorgeous views, and five-star amenities. The caretakers Heather and Steve were incredibly responsive and helpful during the stay. They even helped us plan certain aspects of the wedding.

For a wedding with 40 guests, we could not have picked a better place. People are still talking about it weeks after we got back! Such a special place... we hope we can make it back one day!

If you are considering this location for a small(ish) wedding, look no further. You will not find better value on the Big Island.

Thank you Heather, Steve, and Karen for the unforgettable memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

Hale Wailele was so amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

This is the best vacation home ever!!! We had our wedding here and it was so perfect!! The view is absolutely stunning. Steve and Heather (the property managers) were so nice, they let us feed the fish every morning. The house is furnished so well and everything you could possibly need is provided. Upon arrival, Steve gave a tour of the house and showed us how to use everything. The Sonos sound system is super cool and easy to use. Music can be played easily throughout the house and outside in the lanai. I hope we can come back some day!

Absolutely amazing.

  • 5 of 5

The pictures do not do this home justice! Each night we watched the sun set from cozy chairs surrounding a beautiful infinity pool. The home wanted for NOTHING. Each room was beautifully appointed. Master bedroom is stunning but all bedrooms are lovely. What a dream come true.

Blissful relaxation in a true paradise

  • 5 of 5

To say that this house and vacation were amazing would be a great understatement. From the moment we arrived at Hale Wailele, we felt like we were in paradise! After a long day of travel, Steve met us with some much needed refreshments and food for the adults and a great little treat for our 7 year old daughter. The koi ponds, the super comfortable suites, the sound system, the pool and hot tub- everything about the house was divine and Steve and Heather were so accommodating and welcoming. Amazing sunsets and whale watching from the patio are memories that we will have forever. The moment we left we wanted to go back and hopefully we will one day.
