DON"T MISS THE CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE THIS GORGEOUS HOME "El AMARRE"

  • 5 of 5

My family of 5 stayed here this past week and I had to pry my wife from the property in order to leave. The views are unsurpassed 24x7. From the incredible master suite we were able to go to sleep and wake to the view and sound of the ocean while being treated to a roaring fire in the fireplace. The views from every single spot in this magnificent home are inspiring. The backyard was incredible for meals and s'mores at the fire pit. The music system and the kitchen were a treat. The location was central to everything and we walked to and from the home many times. We rode horses on the beach about 7 miles south. We enjoyed a sunset cruise (escorted by a pod of over 100 dolphins) after walking to the wharf. The restaurants in the area are innovative and wonderful. More than all of that is the incredible design of the interiors. The owners are professionals in real estate and design and this home is a showplace. I would recommend visiting Santa Barbara and El Amarre to anyone considering it and warn you that you will want to try to copy the incredible design sensibility of the owners if you do. From the plates (even the silverware is special, how does she find this stuff?), to the art, to the furniture, to the view from the bathtub, the owners of El Amarre have made a truly special place that guests are lucky to have the chance to experience. Go, go, go. We feel lucky we found this special place, it's responsive owners were extremely helpful, and the daily maid service was a nice touch. Did I mention you should jump on this? You will love it.

WONDERFULLY DECORATED HOME!! AMAZING 180 DEGREE VIEW OF OCEAN AND GREAT LOCATION!!

  • 5 of 5

We were fortunate to stay at this wonderful property in June 2015. After an extensive review of the Santa Barbara vacation rentals we selected this home for one primary purpose, the view. Note, this was only the second time that we rented a home via VRBO, so we were still a bit apprehensive about renting a home sight unseen. I'm here to say that both experiences have been extremely positive, but I would always encourage one to perform their own due diligence. If you select this home, in my opinion, you will not be disappointed. And understand that my comment is coming from someone who is extremely particular.

For starters, our family had never been to Santa Barbara before, so we weren't familiar with the area. But after doing a lot of advanced planning, we felt that this home would be centrally located which I can now confirm is the case. We were quite active during the days and the homes location is ideal. But even more impressive than the location is the view. IT IS AMAZING!!! It truly is a 180 degree, expansive ocean view and incredible. You can hear the sound of the ocean continuously. I was a bit concerned that you could hear cars from a nearby road because car noise is not tolerable to me; however, the noise was a non-event. Don't even be concerned one bit, I promise.

In looking at prior reviews, many people commented about the hammock that is located in the backyard and I too have to agree. I spent a significant amount of time perched in the hammock with a cocktail and watching the sailboats while listening to the ocean. Simply amazing.

Now to the inside decor.....oh my word, it was incredible. Once again, I am accustomed to the highest standards when I travel and the inside exceeded my highest expectations. Even my 17 year old son who doesn't notice too much related to decor commented on how impressed he was with everything. Every piece in the house seemed like it had it's own story which was a pleasant surprise. The owners spared no detail and it's quite evident. This really felt like a "home away from home"; however, at the same time it felt like an opulent five star resort.

Other great features were the flowers, plants, garden and trees that covered this quite large and private lot. The smell of lemons and other fragrances permeated the air as you were coming and going from the property.

We had a wonderful week and I'm confident you will too if you select this gem of a property.

Everything and More

  • 5 of 5

We live in Northern CA and I decided to rent this house for my family of 5 (3 daughters) when we saw the cost of flying everyone to Hawaii for the spring vacation. We wanted someplace large, close to the beach, close to town, and fun to hang out in. First, the home is one of the most tastefully decorated well appointed homes we have every stayed in. The Spanish Colonial interior and exterior were Architectural Digest quality (I was browsing through Santa Barbara magazine when we were there and saw this home featured). The entry gates were at Frank Sinatra's Bel Air home. The Art Deco mirror came from a building in NYC. High end entertainment system for our movie night snuggling. Everything was wonderfully detailed, but comfortable, rustic, and casual. We played music through their Sonos system in every room in the house. We barbecued (we didn't want to leave the backyard). They made available these great Electra beach cruiser bicycles so we could cruise into town (very short bike ride and walkable) or down to the beach. Hours in the hammock overlooking the amazing views were spent by everyone in the family.

Ultimately, as wonderful as the house and the property was, the views and the location are simply amazing what make it a "10." The back yard and the views from all bedrooms and living areas are the best ocean views we've seen. We miss those views. Right below the property is Leadbetter Beach, one of my personal favorites in Santa Barbara (Leadbetter and Butterfly are fantastic). I was concerned about road noise below the house, but you don't even know the road is there. All you hear is the ocean.

Lastly, and I would give 6 stars if I could because of this, the host and owner Tammy is incredibly accommodating and responsive. Wine and goodie basket waiting for us upon arrival, but if there were questions I would send her an email from my mobile phone and get immediate responses. Don't underestimate how important this is; I've stayed in four star hotels where the service wasn't nearly as good.

In a nutshell, best vacation we every had.

Location, location, location!

  • 5 of 5

Our family (me, my husband and our 1 1/2 years old baby) stayed at this house for 3 weeks. This house could not be anything else but 5 stars!

The location is stunning and you can see the beautiful sun rises from all of the bedrooms if you are awake that early. The view over Leadbetter Beach is probably one of the best in the whole of Santa Barbara.

The Spanish Colonial architecture makes this house warm, special and very beautiful. The only sounds you hear are the sounds of the waves and the ocean.

The open layout blends the living room, dining area and kitchen altogether very nicely in one very big room. And, once again a spectacular view over the ocean! There is also a smaller cosy media room, for watching TV or reading a book.

We walked to the beach and the park everyday with our baby. It is so close, we did not even always bring the stroller, our baby walked instead. Do not miss to go down the stair to the ocean from Shoreline park! Stunning sun sets and steep cliffs.

The house is also within walking distance to one of Santa Barbaras best restaurants, the Italian Mediterranian restaurant Toma (best both according to the owners, Tripadvisor and us). The restaurant has great food with a warm and friendly service.

The listing description is accurate, the house is clean and well-maintained. It is includes maid service from a very nice lady that also cooked delicious Mexican food for us one evening. The owner is very helpful and nice and provided good customer service for us. I would definitely recommend this property to anybody.
