La Paila is unique among most of the villas you will find!
-- broad panoramic views of the Pacific ocean are unparalleled. The house is set at one of highest elevations looking into Samara bay and valley offering dramatic views. The sky and light change throughout the day finishing often in spectacular sunsets over the Pacific.
-- staff will prepare meals, clean house daily and do laundry! The pool and grounds are professionally maintained. Relax and enjoy yourself! Staff live in a separate house on the property providing security and availability but also as much privacy as you want.
-- La Paila is designed with a huge open air living room that contains dining, sitting, entertainment and game areas. It boasts no walls so that you are directly connected to the views, breeze and nature! (All four bedrooms are secure and air-conditioned).
-- La Paila is very private, tranquil and quiet. We have only two close neighbors neither of whose houses can be seen.
-- designed in the colonial Costa Rican style of architecture, La Paila is appointed with art and artifacts that celebrate Tico and Guanacaste culture. The furniture is mostly locally made from tropical hardwoods. The staff is Tico and speaks Spanish. Immerse yourselves a bit in Costa Rica!
For your entertainment there is satellite TV with VCR/DVD, Bose stereo (with Ipod hookup) and free WiFi. But you can also laze in the hammock or lounge in the pool! We also have ping pong and backgammon tables and other board games, a volleyball/badminton court, darts and horseshoes! Take the boogie boards with you to the beach or use in the pool!
Nature abounds all around: flocks of parrots fly by each morning and evening, howler and capuchin monkeys will visit the trees, and maybe you'll see a coatimundi! Mangos fall off the backyard trees from May to August.
The sunsets can be stunning but also look for the Milky Way stretching across the sky, fireballs, green flashes, moon rings and rainbows!
Use the villa as a secluded retreat for pure R & R or as a home base for day trips. The daily destination for most?: just five minutes away by car is the iconic, palm lined, two mile-long Playa Carrillo (Carrillo beach), a certified 'blue flag' beach of Costa Rica (means it is safe and clean)! It offers unparalleled beach strolls, jogging, swimming and picnics. Horseback riding is available on several beaches. Go deep sea fishing for marlin, tuna, swordfish and mahi-mahi. Turtle watching is at nearby Playa Grande and Playa Langosta. Snorkeling. Zip line through local jungle canopies. Surfing lessons on the bucket list? Dine out in nearby Samara and Carrillo at numerous fine but casual restaurants. Explore the surrounding teak plantation. There is a small zoo in Carrillo and a crocodile to see. To the south, enjoy lunch or golf at Punta Islita, check out the macaw (parrot) reservation and explore Camaronal, a national wildlife refuge. You will not run out of things to do!
