THE SPACE
Inspired by the traditional Nga Rua Matangi, the wind compass that guided ancient Polynesian voyagers, Rua Matangi — House of the Winds — is all about sea breezes, swaying palms, and easy beachside living. Thoughtfully designed as a modern, cosy hideaway, this brand-new fully self-contained 2-bedroom home comfortably sleeps up to 3 guests, with one queen bedroom and one single bedroom.

The open-plan living area flows straight onto a covered timber verandah with a dining set — the perfect spot for morning coffee, lazy breakfasts, or evening drinks. With unlimited Starlink Wi-Fi and a fresh feel throughout, Rua Matangi is made for relaxing.

KITCHEN & AMENITIES
The well-equipped kitchen includes a full stove and oven, microwave, large fridge/freezer, toaster, and everything needed to prepare easy holiday meals with fresh local produce from nearby markets and roadside stalls. A washing machine is also provided, making longer stays easy and comfortable.

EASY CORAL SHORE ACCESS
Just steps from the bungalow, across the open beachfront section, the natural coral shoreline offers an easy place to enjoy the sea breeze, take in the view, and unwind by the water’s edge. As this is a natural coral frontage, it is best enjoyed for relaxing, wading, and cooling off rather than swimming. For calm lagoon beaches perfect for swimming, Muri is a short 10 minute drive, or local bus ride away.

Located in a quiet residential pocket of Avarua, Rua Matangi feels peaceful, green, and local, with lush tropical surroundings and a relaxed coastal atmosphere. You are just 150 metres from Club Raro Resort — perfect if you feel like a swim-up bar, cocktail, or a touch of resort atmosphere without staying in one. A short 10–15 minute walk takes you to Tamarind House Restaurant & Ukulele Bar for great food, cocktails, and a relaxed beach bar vibe. Avarua town centre is only a 5-minute drive away, with restaurants, waterfront bars, shops, and the vibrant Punanga Nui Market.

Hire a scooter or car and the whole island opens up — from cross-island hikes and snorkelling to turtle tours and lagoon cruises.

Bonus during whale season (July to October): the coastline right in front of the property, along with the nearby Club Raro area, can be a great vantage point for spotting humpback whales from shore as they migrate past.
