Perfect spot to get away from it all

  • 4 of 5

Attention to detail was everywhere. The wood stove was set to go, the woodpile outside was plentiful. Gazing out the picture window every morning to see our feathered friends gathering around the perfectly placed bird feeder, binoculars and bird book at the ready was such a treat.

Highly recommend this gem.

Relaxing, unique woodland getaway

  • 5 of 5

This review is coming quite late, but we stayed here the day after we were married. We dubbed the trip our mini moon until we could go on the full honeymoon. The trip was perfect, from a secluded bath with birds chirping to a fun board game about bugs to a nice cup of old fashioned coffee. We loved the simple appointments in the cabin and the adventure of sleeping in the loft. Truly, we felt like the only two people in the world. After massages, a Roman bath, and dinner at Lot 41, we then felt like royalty. Can't wait to come back, hopefully longer next time!

Rest my Soul!

  • 5 of 5

I was so deeply impressed by all of the amenities provided at the Obrien's Cabin- had I known, I would have left half of the things I packed at home! I could spend a lifetime trying to convey the impact that my stay here has had on my life. I arrived looking forward to a get-away, but what I took- away with me when I left is priceless. I totally get what the OBrien's are living, and what they are trying to live among nature, to help sustain it, to literally be a part of it. I have never stayed in a cabin islolated in the woods before, and what I experienced was an eco-friendly, tranquil, and peaceful vacation that has soothed my soul. Taking a hot bath(bath salt provided), outside on the deck was my all-time Favorite!!! I never felt so close to nature and earth before, but the bond I made with it this week will last a lifetime! I read an article about the OBrien's where Kris says something to the effect: "Even on a bad day, I can go out tubing on the pond, and realize life is good". This is the gist of what I hope I am sharing here in this review. If you need to get away from things that may seem hectic and hopeless, this cabin is the place for you. You will be renewed, refreshed, and learn to love nature the way it was intended. To be respected and nurtured, for ALL to share in the glory of its' beauty. Thank you

An absolutely perfect vacation.

  • 5 of 5

Thank you, O'briens' for sharing your absolutely beautiful property with us. We try to vacation every year, (we usually take a beach vacation) but this year we wanted to try something different. We are so happy that we chose to stay here. It was just the get-away that i needed from my usual 60+ hour work week. I achieved a level of relaxation and serenity here that I have never felt before. The claw foot tub on the deck was the best idea I have ever seen in a vacation destination. My wife loved it! Being able to soak in the beauty of nature, watching the birds around you was just indescribable. We hiked a little, but mostly we just came to relax. The cabin was thoughtfully prepared, chopped wood for the stove, utensils, fresh organic granola and coffee. The owners were very kind and easy to work with. The bird feeder just outside the front window was frequented often by many different types of birds. The environment here is absolutely untouched. The cabin is located in total seclusion, you won't see another person or building anywhere. Close to Washington DC so we decided to add that as a stop on our trip. Great place to relax after the hustle and bustle of the city. Thanks again and we definitely hope to return soon!

Fantastic tranquil getaway

  • 5 of 5

My stay at this Berkley Springs cabin was just what I needed to escape the hustle and bustle of my everyday living. The birds, the pond, the deer !! Everything natural. They even had self composting toilets! This was enough to prove to me that the owners have a true compassion for the environment. Chris guided us around and pointed out different species of birds and plants. The whole experience was educational and very interesting. I would not hesitate to return and am looking forward to a return visit soon. Let me not forget to mention the cool claw foot bathtub !! Everything had the owners personal unique touch !

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review, Ron. We just need to clarify that the cabin doesn't have a composting toilet. It has a full, conventional bathroom with a flush toilet. The composting toilets are in and outside of our house. Also, we currently do not accept pets.
