Numerous bird species live there today, including kingfishers and white-tailed eagles. Equally perfect for anglers, the lake is home to pike, perch and trout. Diernäs Strand is a very family-friendly area with calm waters out to the Little Belt. Nearby, Hadersleben offers a charming old town with an imposing cathedral church. Further south you will reach Graasten Castle, where the royal family gathers in summer.
