About this property

Peaceful Lakefront Retreat, Fish, Kayak, Unplug 18 Min from Middlebury

You have this quiet little relaxing place all to yourself. It's off the beaten path — no crazy loud motorboats to deal with, just a quiet little lake great for fishing and kayaking. There are two flat levels to play yard games, a large sun deck to get that great tan, and great fishing off the dock. A picnic table and gas grill are ready for cooking up the perfect steak at the end of the day. Keep in mind this is a small Vermont lake — it can be shallow at times and a bit mucky on the bottom, which we can't control.
One camp, two sides:
Lakeside — The guest side of the cottage consists of the chef's kitchen, one bathroom, 2 bedrooms, a 4-season porch with a pullout sofa, deck and yard, sleeping up to 6 guests comfortably. Your guest side is completely private — no shared spaces, no shared entry.
Roadside — Your hosts sometimes stay in a fully separate owner's suite on the upper side of the cottage, with its own private entrance. Interaction with us is entirely optional. Many guests enjoy their stay without crossing paths with us at all, while others love having us nearby for a fire or a local recommendation. You set the tone.
Yard games, a small fishing boat with oars, kayaks, and life jackets are all on-site. Firewood is available for purchase on-site — just let us know if you'd like some for the fire pit. Wi-Fi and a Smart TV are available for you to use with your own streaming accounts (we don't have cable). Towels, linens, and bedding are clean and fresh, and filtered water and ice come straight from the fridge.
We're in Addison County lake country — quiet, wooded, and off the beaten path, with Branbury State Park and Lake Dunmore just up the road for swimming and hiking, and the Moosalamoo Recreation Area nearby for trails. Nearby is Kampersville Deli for pizza and ice cream, and our favorite, Paddlers Pub. Neshobe Golf Club is also close by.
15 minutes from Middlebury, 40 minutes to Rutland, about an hour to most ski resorts — a relaxing getaway no matter the season.
We're in the woods, so don't forget your bug spray. Room for 2 cars — please park only in the driveway. Only guests on the reservation are allowed on the property at any time.

During snowy weather, the road will be plowed .
Because the camp sits on the lake, drifting snow is possible. A snow shovel is available (outside on the deck), along with a bucket of sand/salt and a scoop to improve traction. Please use caution on snowy or icy surfaces — access and use are at your own risk. The camp is located down a long gravel driveway. We highly recommend having snow tires and/ or all wheel drive if staying during snow season.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

The camp has everything you need, with lots of fun activities onsite and in the neighboring town. It accommodates well for little kids. But the best part is the breathtaking view of Lake Fern.

Beautiful and relaxing!

My husband and I just returned home after a week at this amazing place. It is newly remodeled and beautifully decorated but very welcoming and comfortable. Tammie is an amazing host! She has thought of everything you could possibly need - including things you may have forgotten. The outdoor space is incredible with plenty of places to lounge and relax, including a wonderful fire pit area. Our host generously offered the use of their small motor boat, kayaks and floats of which we took full advantage of and thoroughly enjoyed! And even though the weather was rainy on several days there was still plenty of things to do in the area and lots of great places to eat. We really enjoyed our time and hope to return again next year!

Great experience! We used this location as “home base” when I was visiting Middlebury College for a reunion event. Location was perfect! Super quiet, clean, and had a tremendous amount of amenities- the host really thought of everything! If we had forgotten anything, we would have been all set! Easy check-in and great communication. Really couldn’t have been easier. Family had a great time hopping in the kayaks and bombing around the lake checking everything out. We don’t have younger kids but if we did, it would be a great place with lots of items available for the kiddos as well. It was also really nice to have the outdoor firepit to wind down at the end of the end of the day and simply hang out. We would definitely stay here again- no question. Highly recommend!

Excellent lakeside camp

The camp was exactly what I expected and Tammie was very responsive to any/all questions. We used the property as home base for family weekend at Middlebury. It was very convenient, and positioned well between Middlebury and Brandon. I hope to get up there again to enjoy the camp and the lake again soon.

Private lake house escape

Perfect, private, we’ll stocked lake house retreat. The lake is quiet, the house and amenities are very thoughtful (including fixings for making s’mores), fully stocked kitchen, playground for kids, outside fire pit with wood supply. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Kayaking on the lake was so relaxing, and Tammy was communicative and available by text or phone.

Peaceful and Quaint Getaway with

The owners are very thoughtful and this is a lovely home on a nice little lake. The cottage's location on the water in a semi-secluded cove adds to the peace and quiet. They have lots of toys and games for adults and kids, and the fire pit is a perfect place to relax at the end of a fun day at Camp Run-A-Muck. We loved our stay and would definitely go back!

Relaxing Vermont Getaway

Our stay at Camp Runamuck was just what the doctor ordered - relaxing and stress-free! We knew the location was going to be great based on photos, but it was even more gorgeous in person. The Lake is very private, and the cottage sits in a small cove that keeps it somewhat sheltered. We enjoyed daily kayak rides, and the kids loved the floating mat and water toys. The cottage itself was clean and inviting, with plenty of room for our party of 5 (and then some). Beds were very comfortable and each room had AC. The hosts left treats for us to enjoy, as well as pantry items and linens. Their hospitality went above and beyond. We will definitely come back again!

Great holiday weekend!

We stayed here for Labor Day weekend with our 3 young children, my brother and is wife and their baby. The house was so clean and comfortable. We felt right at home! Tammie was wonderful and made sure we arrived safely and had what we needed. The lake is so clean and peaceful. The weather was a little too cool to swim but we still were out on the water using the kayaks that Tammie was so kind as to let us use! We will definitely be going back!
