Snowbird has an average of over 500 inches of snow each year, and usually March has the most of any month. Snowbird powder (because of proximity to the Great Salt Lake) is unequalled anywhere in the world.
Our condo is UNIT 610 in the 'Iron Blosam' lodge. They call it a “Mountain View Efficiency”. See floor plan among the photos.
It's basically a studio apartment with full kitchen and a murphy bed, but also has a convertible sofa so you can sleep 4. (The second picture above or below is the floor plan.)
It's right on the mountain with a large south facing balcony overlooking lifts and trails.
It’s on the 6th floor, but the building is built into the south side of the canyon, so the best way to get to the lifts is at the 5th floor: just walk to end of the hall and down one flight of steps. Then it’s a short walk to Snowbird center, a concrete megastructure with shops, restaurants, lift tickets, ski rentals, and the base of the tram to the top.
The Iron Blosam also has a restaurant, gym, huge hot tub and an outdoor heated pool. See pictures.
Van or taxi gets you to the mountain from Salt Lake city airport in 20 minutes. Canyon Transport has a desk right at baggage claim and pick you up just outside the door.
• There is a shared laundry room on the second floor with 8 coin operated machines. Also coin operated dispenser for detergent.
• Condo has more closet and storage space than you will need: see updated plan attached. Sorry I didn’t ever think to take pictures of closets, because we rarely have rented the unit in 30 years. There is an extra sink in the dressing area.
• There are also free changing rooms on the second floor and free lockers for ski equipment.
• If you rent skis, they can be left for free along with boots at the rental shops also at snowbird center. Over the years, I’ve found renting is best for many reasons: no schlepping skis and poles through airports, latest equipment, free binding check and adjustment, and daily option of different style of ski depending on conditions (fat skis for deep powder, etc).
