A lovely time

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four (including 7 and 9 year old boys), couldn't have asked for a better vacation. The cottage is cozy and through our week we were really able to make it our own. The location can't be beat. Situated between two towns (Wilmington and Bennington), our "trips into town" were filled with homemade fudge, delicious ice cream, historic monuments, and an art museum that impressed me more than I thought it would. We even made a day trip to Manchester (gorgeous), to visit Hildene, a mansion and estate of Abraham Lincoln's only surviving son. The grounds also host a goat farm, with fresh cheese made right on the property.

I woke up each morning to an amazing view through the large window in my bedroom. There is enough entertainment (a roku with netflix, amazon, etc.), so we were able to watch movies and feel a little connected to the outside world. People in this area are friendly and we even discovered a secret fishing spot by asking around at the General Store.

Thanks to Rose, the owner, for making our stay comfortable and our reservations easy and hassle free. We would be back in a was just what our little family needed.

Owner's Response: Dear Deborah, Thank you, It's so wonderful to hear your family enjoyed the cottage and its surroundings. I purchased the cottage several years ago with my daughters being the same age. They've grown to love it so much knowing there's a great escape to nature just outside the door. It's dear to my heart hearing and knowing families are enjoying as much we do. With kind regards Rose Burns

Highly Recommended

  • 5 of 5

Our family (including 3 young ones) had an absolutely wonderful time at this Woodford Cottage. It would take me too long to list all the positives. It was a wonderful environment - thoughtful touches and a cozy ambiance. There was something for everyone. Communication with the owner was easy and gracious. We would love to go back again and strongly recommend it without reservation!!

Relaxing and Peaceful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I (and our dog) loved our quiet four day anniversary getaway at Rose's cabin. Even before we arrived, Rose was so quick to respond to all of our questions and very easy to rent from. When we arrived, the cabin was very clean and well stocked (I overpacked and definitely didn't need to!). Everything from dish soap and a can opener in the kitchen to hand soap in the bathroom was already available. We all loved wading into the water by the dock, relaxing in the yard and enjoying the view, relaxing on the back porch with a spectacular view of the lake, and ending our evenings with a Netflix movie.

The cabin is about 20 minutes away from Bennington, so you can make grocery runs or just stretch your legs. And, even though the cabin is just off of Route 9, it sits far enough away from the road that we didn't have to worry about our dog, and road noise wasn't an issue.

We would definitely return to Rose's cabin again, and are looking forward to inviting friends to enjoy it with us.

Perfect location and exactly as advertized

  • 4 of 5

Cottage was great and exactly as advertised. There were 4 adults and one teenager and we had plenty of room. As it was the fall season the view on the lake was great. The location was good, just a short drive to Bennington VT where you can what ever you need while not in the busy town limits.

Rose was great to deal with, very responsive and helpful. Would highly recommend. The only downside we found was low water pressure in the shower. Other than that, no issues.

Great for small kids

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time during our four-night stay this past week. The cabin was impeccable with a lovely porch overlooking the lake. I spent a lot of time in a rocking chair with our newborn while my husband took our preschooler kayaking and exploring. He had a blast feeding the ducks, swimming, and exploring the area. It was also nice to have Bennington close by for groceries and the occasional meal out. Overall, it was a very relaxing, easy trip for a late summer/early fall vacation. Thanks, Rose!
