Terrific hosts and house

I really enjoyed my stay. The house is in a great location and the condition is very nice. It has all the amenities you would need and is nice and clean. The pool and outdoor space is terrific as well. If I am in the Austin area again, I would definitely stay at the house.

Modern luxury tucked in an Austin oasis

The place was great from check in to check out. It’s a second floor private apartment, with great design, comfy bed and sheets, big closet and modern appliances. Hosts were super nice and accommodating and everything was just super easy. Highly recommend.

Spectacular House

Words can't express how amazing this house and these owners are.......It is truly heaven and Cynthia and Desire are the best hosts and all around beautiful people. If you love a central location, dogs and good feed everywhere this is your spot.

Heavenly hideaway!

My husband and I stayed here for 7 nights, recently. We could not have asked for a better experience at Desirae’s place. Everything was top notch - the amenities, location, communication - all stellar! The bed was comfy and we loved looking out the HUGE picture windows at the old oak trees and pool area. This is nothing short of an oasis inside the city limits. We would not hesitate to book this home-away-from-home the next time we are in Austin!

Graduation weekend getaway

The place is just a lovely oasis! The grounds are beautiful and serene. Desiree and Cynthia, the hostesses, are a mother and daughter team. They made us feel like we were staying with family! There was not one thing we needed that wasn’t provided. It was so perfect! We cannot wait to visit again!

Great private spot, close to everything

We loved our stay at this vrbo. The house was very clean and modern but also very comfortable. Perfect spot to chill for a bit in between seeing all that Austin has to offer. Everything we planned to see was either walking distance or a short drive so it's very central to everything. Desirae, the host, was so nice and gave us a welcoming tour when we arrived. Loved the dogs too! We will definitely be back!

Absolute Delight!

We came to this property for a stay-cation over the Memorial Day weekend. What an absolute delight! The architectural and interior design is stunning. The garden and grounds are tranquil and tropical. Within 1 mile of countless restaurants and shopping. Absolutely a 5-star experience. Looking forward to returning.

Weekend in Austin

Comfortable lodging in a convenient location which served as a good base camp from which to conduct off-property activities. Patrons share common space for cooking, lounging and swimming with the very hospitable owners...and their delightful dogs. All-in-all, a good experience but in our minds a bit overpriced granted likely in keeping with the Austin market overall.

Great long weekend

My girlfriend and I enjoyed a great long weekend in Austin staying here. The house looked very nice, outside and in. Desirae, and her wonderful dogs, were there to greet us and give us the tour as we arrived. Very welcoming host with a beautiful home and quiet atmosphere at the house and neighborhood. Overall it’s a fantastic property with a wonderful and welcoming host, you won’t be disappointed staying here.

A Great Love Nest

My girlfriend and I stayed here and we didn’t want to leave! The location is close to everything Austin has to offer. The design of the space is so thoughtful and it felt just like we were living in an up-scale treehouse. We felt so connected with nature. The dogs are so precious. (Bella the Basset Hound and I have a special relationship that I will remember forever!) The Owner’s Mom immediately took care of the very few basic coordination items we needed to deal with and she was so sweet and kept to herself so as to not intrude on anything. We had another couple come over for drinks and enjoyed the observation deck with them. Such a special, special place!!!

Blissful Backyard Oasis Perfect for Our Anniversary

We could not have asked for a better location to relax, unwind, and celebrate our 28th anniversary than this spectacular modern home and backyard oasis. The incredible hosts, Desirae and her mother, Cynthia, were attentive to every detail, including a spectacular champagne upon our arrival. We particularly love the architecture, and the attention to detail in both the interior design and the amenities. Everything we needed to be perfectly comfortable throughout our stay. We floated in the pool for hours, staring up at the majestic live oak trees, and played with the friendly dogs during the day. At night, we enjoyed cool breezes (and zero mosquitos) on the third-floor patio with a perfect view of the stars overhead and the Austin skyline off in the distance. Cynthia was gracious enough to show us around her art studio on the property, and of course, we had to bring home a couple of pieces of her beautiful pottery as a keepsake. All in all, an absolutely blissful time—and one of our favorite vacations ever. We'll definitely be back.

Misleading description, plus fleas

The owner lives in an trailer in the back yard with four dogs who roam free on the property, drink from the pool, and, during our stay, had fleas, which they gave to us and our cat. The dogs are not mentioned in the description. The other issue is that the apartment is really a studio, much smaller than in the pics. Also not clear that the unit is registered - the notices required by the Austin short-term rental regs were not “clearly visible.” We have stayed in a lot of rentals with no issues. We realize you’re staying in someone’s home and some funkiness is to be expected. This one takes the prize for unpleasant and misleading. Avoid.

Since 2016, I have taken great pride in hosting numerous guests at my unique property. I carefully vet all renters to ensure a good fit for everyone involved. From the beginning, this particular renter started pushing boundaries by requesting the gate code earlier than allowed, which I denied as another guest was already on the property. Safety is my top priority. Next, he asked for an early check-in, which I accommodated. However, instead of checking in himself, his family did, which was concerning since my property is strictly 21+. This was the second red flag. Then, his daughter brought a cat onto the property without prior discussion. A $50 pet deposit is required for animals, but because this was never communicated, it was not addressed. Three days later, the renter claimed the cat had fleas. My property is professionally treated monthly, and it features hardwood floors—I have never had an issue with fleas. The renter mentioned that the cat had been traveling for two weeks and that he was allergic to animals, which contradicts his claim, especially since my listing clearly states that "whippets will greet you at the front gate." His story about the cat and the supposed flea problem raises serious doubts. Late on Friday, three days after checking in, he informed me that he was leaving the property, leaving some belongings behind, which were picked up on Sunday. Since then, this individual has repeatedly harassed, threatened, and bombarded the VRBO inbox to the point where VRBO had to remove one of his reviews due to inappropriate language. This is the first time I’ve ever felt threatened by a renter. VRBO has since blocked his communications with me due to his threats and abusive language. I strongly advise against renting to this person. He is dishonest, disrespectful, and not someone you want to deal with.

Desirae shone in ballet from age three, securing a lead role in the Nutcracker at six with the Fort Worth City Ballet Company. She balanced competitive sports and the arts through high school and college. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, she ventured into creative marketing and opened her graphic design studio, American Pie Design, Inc., in 1993. Yoga became her stress relief from corporate life, and she embraced Baptiste Power Vinyasa and Anusara Yoga for their spiritual aspects. In 2006, she opened Breath and Body Yoga in Austin, Texas, establishing a top-tier teacher training school. She works with University of Texas sports teams, enhancing their strength, flexibility, and alignment. Today, she teaches, tours, and trains, merging vinyasa flow with alignment.
