Amazing!

The location was secluded, beautiful views, gorgeous home. This was the ultimate party home- huge kitchen, lots of space to hang out, music throughout the house, media room, pool, hot tub, you name it, this house has it!

Wonderful Base for Napa

While a bit of a hike from the Napa Valley floor, once you arrive at the Ranch Above it is an amazing retreat where you can relax in the seclusion of nature around you. All of the rooms were well appointed, and the kitchen provided for a great means by which we were able to have a chef come into the home and prepare a meal for our group. Throw in the infinity pool, hot tub, bocce court and hilltop views, you can’t go wrong with this property!

A Zen Retreat for our Girls Trip!

WOW! The Ranch Above St. Helena was PERFECT for our Girls Trip! Sooo many great areas both outdoors and indoors to simply relax, soak in the scenery, get caught up with friends :) Great amenities, everything in the home was in perfect working order, caretaker always available to promptly handle any questions. The staff that assists with preparing for our arrival was INCREDIBLE! Very responsive and knowledgeable. All recommendations (chef, concierge, grocery shopping) were great! THANK YOU Blair Spangler Group for a truly INCREDIBLE trip!

Great view! Execellent experience!

We stayed at the ranch for two weeks with families across three generations. First of all the location was great. High on Spring Mountain amongst great vineyards you really had great vantage. There is a platform with spectacular view where we had private yoga session that the the Blair group helped organise. Speaking of service, the caretakers are available down the road from the ranch most of the day and are extremely responsive. Whenever we needed something addressed or had questions, they were extremely helpful. The villa itself is very well appointed and spacious. We made full use of the pool, media room and the kitchen. Really enjoyed it and would definitely come back. The only thing to point out is that the road to the ranch is not the easiest to navigate particularly at night.

5 stars for the property, 4 stars for the drive

This house is completely immaculate. Somehow the pictures don't do it justice. 10 of us stayed here for my 40th birthday celebration. Everyone had their own bathroom, plenty of space around the house for people to enjoy each other or have time on their own. We used a company they recommended to have a chef come to the house one night. Then we had a bus drive us around to different wineries the next day. My only complaint, or something to be aware of is that it is 20 minutes of very curvy roads on the way there. Then once you get to the "driveway" of the house, it is about a 3 minute drive on a steep and curvy gravel road. This makes it a little challenging at night or even after going to a tasting or two. Otherwise the house is absolute perfection.

Mountain top get away has beautiful views but is pretty far away.

The setting is beautiful for this large house decorated in a French chateau style. It was great for our 11 person group, but we would have benefited from renting four wheel drive cars to get there. We had a wonderful weekend, but were disappointed that we were not allowed to turn on the pool heater, or use the missing outdoor cushions allegedly due to a rain forecast, which of course never materialized. The kitchen is large and completely decked out for cooking, which we took advantage of. The garden would have come in handy later in the season, but the grounds were absolutely spectacular. The lookout deck provided fantastic views both east and west.

Beautiful Property

The house is beautiful and easily accommodated our group of twelve. The best part of the property is how isolated you are and the views are incredible. The only issue we had was our limo driver felt it was unsafe to drive up the mile or so dirt road to the house to pick us up for wine tasting. We had to shuttle everyone down to the main road in our SUV. I would certainly stay here again.

It's beautiful... The property, the house. Layout of the house is great. Open living and kitchen area out to the patio/pool. Clean, plenty of linens, for a rental home very well stocked chef's kitchen. We brought a private chef in and she even commented it was probably one of the best kitchens she had walked into for a rental house. We did a wine pairing dinner for 10 and had plenty of wine glasses! The view is spectacular. We got great use out of the hot tub and fire pit as it was very chilly during our stay. We will come back. Thank you.

Wonderful house, wonderful location, wonderful team ...great location for a wedding event

Months ago I picked this location and planned this for a once in a lifetime wedding destination event for my son. It could not have gone any better (and I have photos to prove it !!). The Blair Spangler group was wonderful to deal with. They were very professional. Their website was extremely detailed and informative (photos and videos of the property). In many respects they were the behind the scene wedding planners. I contracted for their concierge services and got my moneys worth. Flower selection, cake selection, caterer selection, site location, wedding decorations, fine china, music, in home chef, in home make-up, delivery service of food and wine ..... you name it, they provided great insights, knowledge and experience. The location on top of Spring Mtn, provided stunning views morning and evening. Remote yet easily accessible to the Napa Valley town of St Helena. The house was 5 stars. 5 gorgeous bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and shower for 2. A cooking show quality kitchen. A media room with all channels and streaming available. A great room where 20-25 people could gather, dine, celebrate and relax. A stunning top-of-the-hill Summit deck readily available for parties, WEDDINGs, outdoor dining and living large. The cherry on top was the well appointed cottage house (detached 150 feet down the driveway). We used it as the bridal suite and it was in a class all its own. My son and his new bride were thrilled and made their rare appearances to drink wine on deck at the fire pit, dine with us in the spacious dining room or take wine tasting trips with us. 5 stars. If you are wondering where to plan a destination wedding or take the family and friends for a week at an amazing location in wine country. Call Blair Spangler .... and remember to bring your trunks for the pool/hot tub and camera for the memories. Cheers. Frank & Kathleen Thompson.

Perfect for family at Thanksgiving

The property was the perfect solution for our family to get together at Thanksgiving. There were 11 adults and a toddler. The media room was great for football viewing and the dining area was able to seat everyone. The hot tub was a nice respite in the afternoon and the bocce area was well-used. Although we couldn't swim, the pool deck was perfect for yoga practice. The downsides were that I had to plan everything. I had asked the "concierge" to find a chef and arrange a day of wine tasting. Although the fires occurred in October, there were weeks prior to the fires to arrange things. Because we have some contacts in the area, we arranged everything ourselves. They also didn't know the answers to simple questions concerning the coffee maker (FYI there are filters on the property). I did find a wonderful private chef and a great wine touring company. The kitchen is fairly well equipped. Some of the sheet pans provided are too large for the oven. There were no large rolls of foil or plastic wrap and only three small kitchen towels. There are two dishwashers (great for a crowd) but the bottom racks could not hold all the dishes because they came off the tracks as they were a little flimsy (shocking for a Bosch). As a whole, it is a great property and perfect for our family get together. ]

Gorgeous house and view- couple of small downsides

We recently stayed at the Ranch Above St. Helena with a large group. It was an absolutely gorgeous place to spend our time in Wine Country!! We had a group of 7 couples (14 people) for a 40th birthday trip, and it was just awesome. The house is beautifully decorated, a wonderfully equipped gourmet kitchen, wonderful sound system. It has everything... pool, bocce ball, overlook deck, outdoor table for dining, hot tub, awesome media room. Our group really enjoyed it. The Blair Spangler group that manages it was very helpful in providing vendors in the area for transportation, food, restaurants, massages, wineries, etc. A few things of note: what is listed as a 7th bedroom in the guest house DOES NOT have a full bath, so if you are traveling with couples who would like to not have to share a bathroom or walk to the main house to shower (as most I believe would rather not do), then make sure you don't have more than 6 couples staying in the house. Only reason this was an issue for us is that we were not informed that the bathroom had been converted from a full to a half bath, so one couple in our group was having to shower in someone else's bath the whole time, which was not really ideal. But, the property manager was more than accommodating in making up for this inconvenience on our trip, which I give them credit for being honest and helpful with this. Also, this property is literally up a VERY STEEP mountainside, so just be aware for transportation purposes and for those who are easily carsick... it's bumpy, windy, and the altitude changes... all of which can make some people queasy on the ride down. Other than those issues, though, the house truly is gorgeous and was an absolutely perfect place for our large group to have a relaxing stay in Wine Country. I would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to this area!

The entire property was impressive and the house was so elegant yet very comfortable for our group!

I highly recommend The Ranch Above. The entire management team were accommodating and responsive to all our questions and needs. We had a couple days of a heat wave and had no problem with the AC. They even had an additional unit in the media room. Our entire group was able to watch the football game with plenty of seating. The outside entertaining space was absolutely perfect. Plenty of seating and the pool was large. Outdoor grilling was available making our nights relaxed and just hanging by the pool. Yes it's at the top of Spring Mountain(totally worth the drive up). So you may plan your days accordingly. Our plan was just to relax in the morning by the pool, out for lunch and afternoon. Then back for the evening and dinner. Had a private chef one of the nights. Fantastic experience! There is just plenty to do and the bocce ball court was an added plus. We played every night. Thank you Blair Spangler for your beautiful property. Can't wait to come back.

Amazing luxury hideaway!

We had an amazing time. This place is even nicer than the pictures!! It was perfect for our extended family weekend away. We enjoyed the infinity pool, hot tub, bocce ball court, spacious areas to eat/ hang out, the media room, the sunset deck, and the huge kitchen where we could all cook.

A Long Cool Glass of water sitting so peacefully and elegantly at the end of the long steep road.

We and our 6 guests had a wonderful experience. The Ranch Above was Visually stimulating within itself and the breath taking views beyond. We had hired a driver and van who came and collected us daily to chaperone us to all of our tastings by day and made certain that we returned back safely by days end. As we all love to shop and cook as well, each dinner was prepared in house while enjoying our purchases of wines from the day and busily recapping each moment and winery with much laughter ! ~ We look very forward to returning again next year without hesitation ! ~

Beautiful property with plenty of space for everyone

We had an amazing time at The Ranch Above - the property is just perfect for group gatherings. We were 14 people, a mix of couples and singles, and this property had more than enough space for everyone to have privacy and to spend time together. It is wonderful that each bedroom has its own lovely bathroom. The views were amazing from the house and from the viewing platform. The kitchen is perfectly set up for groups - three refrigerators, two dishwashers, more than enough glassware and dishware, everything you could want for cooking and baking. The Sonos sound system is great fun and all the patio doors that open up to the beautiful outside were just great. The interior decorating feels special and unique. We just had a marvelous time. Nicole the concierge/planner was a tremendous help in creating a fun itinerary for this 50th birthday party. It really was exactly the celebration I always wanted. (the driveway is, however, a bit of a challenge but I understand the property owner is working with the county to make it more manageable; we did not have any real problems with it, but we did not completely love that one little piece)

perfect place for work retreat

A group of 9 of us came to stay here in February. We took advantage of the concierge grocery shopping service and arrived to three fully stocked fridges. Even though it rained we enjoyed the hot tub and grounds. The kitchen is fully stocked with every possible appliance and tons of dishes. Worth the splurge!

Breathtaking views, impeccable design

This was my 2nd time at The Ranch Above, my first time during "winter" (NYer Speaking). I love the way that the house is designed - immediately you feel right at home, soon you fall in love, some days later it ends as you knew it would and yet it hurts to have to leave. Like a lot of people, the views are what got me day and night (birds of prey flying overhead and plenty of stargazing due to low light pollution for example, not to mention St Helena Mountain, the expanse over the valley etc etc) and I figured that with it being winter, I wouldn't get much in terms of "views". I was wrong. It was a whole different atmosphere, literally. We were mesmerized and entranced with what we saw of outside from behind the enormous windows you find in every room of the house (except the media room I think). Their Instagram account shows what I'm talking about @theranchabove Thanks again for a wonderful time to Blair and her team - There was some problem getting the tv to work and they solved it immediately and without any disruption or inconvenience to us. I would highly recommend the private cooking and wine paring course and the private yoga instructor (do it on the lookout!!) they organized for us at the house. Already booked my next long weekend here - can't wait to come back!

Very Secluded

The Ranch Above is very beautiful and on your own oasis of 70 acres. If you are looking for a centrally located spot, this is not for you.....but if you want to have no noise restrictions, then this is the spot. Additionally, if you are planning on going to even one winery, I highly recommend a driver.....the road to The Ranch is VERY narrow and VERY curvy! Now for the house......the space is great.....amazing appointments and personal touches! Plenty of open space for communing. The kitchen is well stocked and the media room, while we didn't spend a lot of time there was very comfortable. Our only complaint was the temperature controls.......one room stayed at 62 (The Carousel room) while the others were in the upper 70's (The Doris For one). We called and someone came by saying the thermostat was bad but nothing happened after that.....and we received a couple calls and visit after and were told that it depends on the sun, doors to rooms being left open and just st turn the systems off.....but nothing worked. The cold room kept blowing cold air (even when turned off!) and the hot room(s) were still hot Thru the floor due to the radiant heat......seems there is no way to control it, no matter how hard you try! So the couple in the cold room wore all their clothes to bed, and the people in the hot room were naked praying for any breeze. All in all, though, it was a great experience and gives us something to talk about later.

Breathtaking views and amazing spaces to relax

This is our 3rd year to host a group at the Ranch. It is spectacular! Our favorite things about: Hill top deck with expansive views of the entire valley, The living room that opens with 10' doors to the pool, veranda area with comfy chairs and couches, the outside table that we've sat 24 people at for dinner, the kitchen is amazing. I can't imagine a better place to host a large group.
