This charming cottage, built in 1964, has been recently updated without ruining the architectural simplicity of its design. The spectacular view of the lake and the peaceful environment make this spot an amazing retreat. The fully functional kitchen has everything you need to make your own meals - stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, coffee maker plus a little bit of the basics such as salt, spices, oil and flour. The deck has a gas BBQ, a dining table and chairs, and a separate seating area. The house has wi-fi, a portable DVD player (no TV), stereo, telephone, washer and dryer. The property and its secluded sandy beach is on the west arm of Kootenay Lake just 15 kilometers (9 miles) from Nelson. There is a lot to do in Nelson plus parks, hiking, skiing and hot springs close by.

About Chris Ubick
Our mother, Janet, purchased this property in 1928 when the best way to get there was by boat from Nelson. She taught school in Nelson and loved the outdoors. It was an apple farm and the old house that they used for camping is right next door the the cottage (which Janet and her husband built in 1964). Our cousins live in the next two houses along the lake and step in as property hosts while we are away.
Chris Ubick purchased this Cottage in 1928
Why Chris Ubick chose Central Kootenay F
Janet's parents moved to Nelson in the 1890's and her father, Alexander Carrie, was the architect of many of the historic buildings in downtown Nelson. But the biggest reason they all stayed is the beauty of the Kootenays.
What makes this Cottage unique
The house is comfortable, the beach is relaxing, the views are spectacular and there are so many activities minutes away but you won't want to leave.

Perfect Spring Break!
We loved this lakefront cottage. It was absolutely perfect for our spring break with three 17 year olds and our 3 year old beagle. We loved the minimalist decor & that there was no tv, loved all the books & games, and the well-stocked kitchen. The view is absolutely breath taking too. We couldn't believe it when we first walked in. And the beach...ohhh the beach...perfect and we loved having a fire where the kids roasted hot dogs & had a blast-by the way-thanks so much for all the wood for that fire & the fireplace in the cottage which we loved! We couldn't have asked for a better host too. I don't know why we don't go to Canada more as each and every person at the hot springs, in Nelson, and elsewhere are so very kind & helpful. Canadians rock! Thanks for such great memories in your amazing home. We really appreciate your family sharing something so special that's obviously been in their family for some time, as is evident by the beautiful pictures on the walls. We miss it already...sigh
BC view with comfort and ease
A wonderful cottage overlooking the lake with a private beach... my family had a great time... fully stocked, just pull in, park your car and relax. The fun of Nelson is nearby... our dog had a blast chasing waves... thanks Graham!!
Fabulous views and private beach!!!!
I enjoyed having my coffee on the deck with the most amazing views. The family LOVED spending our days on our own private beach. The cabin has all the amenities and the warm outdoor shower is a great idea. We absolutely loved our stay and hope to be back next summer!!!! Thanks to Graham for being a fantastic host and to Chris for letting us have an opportunity to enjoy this spectacular property!
Beautiful well appointed cabin, private sand beach, gorgeous views
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this resort-like property. Everything we wanted was provided in the cabin and at the beach. The forest provided privacy and a feeling of seclusion. We had fun kayaking, fishing, and relaxing on the beach or on the spacious patio overlooking the lake and mountains. The proximity to the highway was the only negative to this relaxing spot. We enjoyed day trips to nearby Nelson and Kaslo. Highly recommended!
Beautiful Spot with impressive views.
Great cabin. Comfortable with everything you could need. Perfect for couple or small group. Fantastic private beach with fire pit. Just a short drive to Nelson to the west and a good local store just a mile or so to the east. The highway is close to the property but this is common all along Kootenay Lake.
Great rental property
I had a great time, was clean and comfortable also close to Nelson.Cute private beach area with fire pit.
We're delighted, of course.
