About Alma Tramill

This property was owned by our family back in the 1800's bought from William Vaughn himself and sold - (1979). We were able to purchase it back in 2011, 32 years later. Our love for this place is so strong, we wanted to share with others the same opportunities we felt.

Alma Tramill purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Alma Tramill chose Puget Sound South

The Blueberry cottage (Vaughn Bay) A place where freedom is felt and loved. Watching the magical sunsets, never one duplicated! Free roaming wildlife to watch and share with. The beach is filled with its own life. At low tide watch as the clams bask in the warmth of the sand - a song of their own. The small crabs find refuge under the rocks. With tides high or low it's a world of enchantment, hours of fun and relaxing

What makes this cottage unique

Use the small Dock - launch for your own boat/kayak, or the public launch across the bay.

Available to use: (2) Costco kayaks, row boat, paddle boat, 4 person float fun Island and water slide (in season)

Shopping and fine Dining: 10 minutes away, Maritime Gig Harbor offers waterfront shopping. The Blueberry Cottage: offers easy access to the Olympic peninsula, Olympic National Park and Hood canal. It is nearby Belfair - Shelton known for it's ATV trails and nature preserve.

Loved it! Will come back again if we can find openings!

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the reviews that you'd like not to write, for fear that more people will sign up for this property and you won't be able to come back again because it is already booked; you'd like to keep it a secret but can't.

IN SHORT...WE LOVED IT.

A bit of background. We're a family of 3 people, 2 adults & 1 child (10 months old).

We stayed here in July of 2017 for ~ 5 days.

It's a lovely property with great views (we believe the pictures DO NO make it justice). Sunsets seen from the outside bar (lighted tiki's are a must) with a drink & music of your choice (ours were wine and Bob Marley/UB40) are truly spectacular.

The house is very clean; we did appreciate the cake (welcome present).

A bit too much furniture inside the house (we thought), but each item is unique and charming and of course people have different tastes.

The kitchen is fully equipment and does have some condiments left over from Alma (the owner) and prior guests . We cooked most of the nights at home watching the sunsets; everything we need it in the kitchen in terms of equipment we had. I believe the kitchen itself was recently remodeled. The appliances are pretty new, the refrigerator is pretty big.

The couch in the living room is comfortable for sleeping (usually they aren't; this one was).

Lot of towels (didn't use them all), TV/DVD's (didn't watch it/them; why would you?).

There is no phone reception (T-Mobile) but can use the internet for wi-fi calling.

The deck is NOT child-proof, however is big enough so kids can play on it with adult supervision; or better yet, let them run around the yard which is pretty big.

We spent most of our time outside which we highly recommend.

There is a boat which we used and kayaks (which we didn't) and a whole other bunch of stuff for water (it seems Alma is trying to make everybody happy). You must use one of these things. Kayaking is a great way to see the area, but we couldn't because our child is too small.

You must be aware of the tides. They change from day to day. So take that into account when you plan your kayaking/boat trip.

At night, we spent the time in the hot tub which is also great. Make sure you light the tikis Absolutely gorgeous. We spent most our times on the property so we don't really know any points of interest in the area. Small shopping center about 5 minutes from the property for food, etc.

Alma is a great host. Discreet, joyful, helpful &willing to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

A paradise!

  • 5 of 5

It's my husband's birthday! We arrived to The Blueberry Cottage with no problems by following our GPS and email directions from Alma.

What a paradise -- beautiful, quiet, clean and peaceful! We travel often and have never gone back to the same place twice. However, this is the 1st place we are thinking about visiting again in the future.

On a side note, we were hoping to stay outdoors longer but we couldn't because it got pretty cold at night, especially when you are not inside that fabulous hot tub. Would have been nice if there was an outdoor heat-lamp to use by the table. Or even better if there were a small campfire pit available! Nothing is more peaceful and romantic than a campfire in a beautiful and quiet environment like this.

Girls weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely beautiful property down to the delicious chocolate cake and Apple cider left for us by Alma. My friends and I spent almost the entire time sitting on the deck enjoying the peaceful scenery. The grill was perfect, the kitchen had everything we could need and there were even different sizes of bathrobes to use. Highly recommended! Thank you Alma!

It's just gorgeous, right on the water, nice little quiet bay, kayaks, etc., provided. Huge, easy-to-operate BBQ, Hot Tub, etc. Yes, we'll be back.
