About Nestor Nicolas
Born and raised in PI, I moved to Guam in 1989 and met my wife Lucena. We moved to the island of Lanai for a time and then in 2005, my family and I relocated to the East side of the big island to near our grandchildren. I love to travel, play poker, and meet people from around the world!
Nestor Nicolas purchased this House in 2004
Why Nestor Nicolas chose Pahoa
We chose and bought this property for the simple pleasure of fresh, spring fed county water. (Most subdivisions are still on catchment water tank systems). We were also enchanted by the openess that the vaulted ceilings create, as well as the location of home. I mean who wouldn't want to live on Dolphin Street!
What makes this House unique
County water, high speed internet service, line phone, cable television and close to the entrance of Nanawale Subdivision, nice quite street. House has been recently upgraded with granite tops, vessel sinks, and wood flooring. The outside living space consist of a picnic table and benches, a place to drink your coffee in the morning and when in season pick avocados from tress.

we found this property to be just like home. we have nothing negative to say about it. the owner was very nice and stopped by a few times to make sure all was OK
What can we say except "Thank you for being the perfect guest." Till our path cross again take care and have a safe trip.
The place is fantastic!!
We had the best time staying in this Hawaiian home! It is clean, located in a pretty, private, somewhat secluded area but not too far from everything to see and do. Close enough to everything we needed. We are private people and we felt totally at home, no interruptions at all. Was like we were at home but in a magical place. Thank you so much for everything. We really enjoyed our time in Hawaii and staying in that home was a large part of it. Mahalo!!
Cozy home away from the city
This is a lovely 2-bedroom house about a 25 minute drive to Hilo. The drive is lovely and I never felt like I was driving 25 minutes! There are ceiling fans throughout the entire house, so the house stayed very comfortable. Nestor could not have been nicer and allowed for a late check out. The only different thing about this house is that the master bedroom bathroom had no door. It worked out fine for us since only one person stayed in that room, but if you’re a couple, I hope your comfortable with that arrangement! There is a queen bed in both of the bedrooms and two futons in the living room. We had space to spare! It is on county water, and not on a containment system, so the water is potable. When we arrived, we had a note warning us that the router was out on the wi-fi. This was a total non issue as Nestor showed up the next day to replace it. Nestor is a terrific communicator, which, in my opinion, makes all the difference in the world. I would highly recommend staying here!
Thank you very much for your kind words. You will always be welcome in my home.
Are landlords were completely awesome and very nice. I highly recommend staying at this house. The Coqui frogs the wind the beautiful jungle around the house and wonderful Neighbors made our stay completely enjoyable. Having fun Pahoa so close along with the beaches so close made this house a place I will stay next time I go to Hawaii!
Wow... Thanks for such a great review. My wife and I absolutely love having you and Ben. Our granddaughter was tickle pick of the cleaning tip she got. Thank you for making our day. Hope to see you again.
Great home away from home and so close to many local treasures.
From the beginning the communication with Nestor and Lucena has been welcoming. They communicate more than the short few word sentences most hosts do which makes you feel more like a house guest and less like an anonymous customer.
The instructions for getting to their place and opening the house was clearly communicated. The house is clean! It was a relief to stay here after the not so clean hotel on Oahu. Basic necessities are provided including the much desired coffee pot. It was great to be able to do laundry during our stay. That meant less clothes to pack leaving room for souvenirs.
The information packet is easy to understand, clear instructions and great recommendations for things to do. I recommend visiting the warm pools and farmer's market while you are here.
I would stay here again on my next trip.
I am from pahoa and have family in the area so this location was perfect. Its At the top of nanawale so you don't have to drive far down a subdivision like most never-ending neighborhoods on island. The house was well kept and the owners were kind enough to put the lights on for me as I arrived late. It is a private home which I liked and the description was accurate and had almost everything I needed. The selling point for me was another guests review stating privacy. Some travelers may like getting to know owners or neighbors etc but I like my privacy and these owners were completely helpful and respectful of that. The queen bed was the most comfy bed I've ever slept on and it is a home for families for sure. I was surprised by the kids books and games, very family oriented and a nice touch. My niece was learning to read so I spent time with her with books I remember reading as a kid. The outside picnic table and grill were selling points too. Make sure to pick up charcoal! Quiet street with few neighbors, no loud barking dogs or chickens, just coqui frogs. There is an abundance of edible native ferns in the backyard, adding good omen to the property. The only thing that bothered me was the gap in the screen door , but if you keep the door shut you'll be fine.
All in all I was happy with this rental, it's supplies, location, condition and upkeep and would definitely recommend this unit.
Thank you for sharing you home nestor and lucena!
