About Funtierland

Hi there it's Leah and Ryan, proud owners of Funtierland Vacation Rentals! My husband and I are true Southern California locals, born and raised just a stones throw from Disneyland where we've visited since before we could walk (or talk). In fact, I worked at Disneyland through high school and part of college as an Attraction's Hostess on rides like Indiana Jones! Given our deep local roots, Ryan and I embarked on a journey to help spread the magic our hometown offers by curating a portfolio of fun, relevant vacation rental properties, and offering them to guests from across the country and around the world :)

We had an excellent stay in Funtierland 30 from Jan 20-27. We arrived relatively late, but all instructions on how to use the locks etc were great. House instructions were also good. We had 4 adults and 2 kids (6 and 2). Everything was very kid friendly, and there was plenty of room for all of us. The double stroller in the garage was great, allowing our 6 year old to sit in the back (trust me, for Disney this is awesome), and the little one in the front, with our stuff underneath. Because we could push both kids, we were able to walk to Disney (through the Simba lot) each day. It took about 20 minutes to walk (including the inlaws in their mid 60s). Kids likely couldn't do this walk without being pushed, given they're already going to be walking at Disney a bunch. In any case, this is about as close as you can be to Disney for a house, and it was very quiet. The pool and hottub looked great. We had some heating issues that didn't allow use for the most part, but Funtierland really worked with us on it. Responses for anything were very quick and thorough. We felt comfortable working with them. The house was clean and well kept. Shows some age in spots, but overall was a much better choice than getting two hotel rooms nearby. We felt like we could really relax after a long day with all the room we had. Also, breakfasts and getting ready were much more relaxing than a hotel. Well recommended and priced right given the options in the area.

Everything was pretty much as described. It's a beautiful property and well maintained. We had a couple of minor issues that were resolved very quickly. The property is a 10-minute walk from Downtown Disney; it's another 15 minutes to walk through there and to the parks. We cut through the employee parking lot and took the monorail from Downtown Disney (if we were going to Disneyland rather than California Adventure) to cut down on the walking.

Bedding not fresh

My family and I were so exited to stay at this rental. We entered and everything looked clean. We arrived late and when it was time to go to sleep we noticed the pillows smelled and there were stains on the comforter as though they weren’t washed. I was hesitant to send a message since it was midnight but I did. The response was fast. I explained the bedding situation and I was told I could change the sheets myself and the comforters are washed once a month or as needed. I was shocked to be informed that a comforter that is used for more then one time that has stains was washed once a month. Before we arrived I read that if you could wash a load or two of laundry which I was willing to do. After my experience I honestly didn’t wash anything. I had to triple cover the pillows to block the smell and had to put more then one sheet on the bed. This is one of the more expensive rentals we’ve used but the least fresh when it comes to bedding. Driving over 6 hours and asked to change the sheets when your paying for the cleaning fee seemed ridiculous.

Owner's Response: We appreciate the feedback but are disappointed to have missed the 5-star stay we hope to provide all guests. To clarify, all bed linens including pillows and mattress protectors are cleaned prior to each group’s arrival. It is our #1 priority to replace anything that appears worn, dirty, or stained, and while our cleaning crew and QC Specialists are fantastic, they’re also human and not always perfect. In this situation, the most immediate solution we suggested was if the guests could kindly change the questionable sheets, and that we could visit onsite first thing in the morning to resolve any related issues. We reached out the guest again in the morning, but the guest declined and therefore we came visited onsite immediately upon the guest’s departure to ensure all linens met our standards for our next guests. We pride ourselves on doing everything we can to resolve issues as quickly as possible however, given the circumstances, we clearly did not meet certain expectations. We sincerely apologize for the oversight and would appreciate a second chance to ensure all guests receive the 5-star experience they deserve.

Absolutely wonderful! This home was perfect for our large family of 10. The layout is open and perfect for privacy at night with the center family space large and open to never feel crowded. The pool was so fun for all ages with plenty of pool toys for all

We had some minor plumbing issues that were taken care of within a few minutes if a phone call to owners (very impressed by this) We rent vacation homes often all over the country and this home was by far our favorite!

We all agreed that this house was not as great as everyone makes it out to be in the reviews. We where all so excited to stay here, thinking it would just be the perfect home, however we where left with feeling disappointed. After reading all the many reviews online before making the decision to stay at this property, we decided paying extra to have the pool heated would be worth it. However it turned out that the temperature of the pool never stayed heated and it took a long time for the hot tub to get warm. Seemed pointless to pay for heat when it was never really heated at all. The air conditioning would never allow us to go past 74. Everyone in the home woke up sweating at night because it was so hot in the home. When we contacted the property manager for a solution, she stated they control the temperature from their location. This seemed crazy to me, your paying thousands of dollars to rent a home for a week and you can’t even have control of the air conditioning? The pool was the same way.

The mattresses where simply sitting on the ground in 2 of the rooms. I'm guessing previous occupants broke them and that is why the frames where sitting in the garage. The owner was surprised as well when she came over so she might already be working on that.

Also we had to go buy toilet paper since we ran out. After calling to let them know, the manager stated someone would be over that day however they never came until 2 days later. We where told we would get reimbursed for having to go buy these things however that never happened. The washer did not wash the clothes very well at all, some actually came out dirty and I thought that was odd because it seemed very new. Also it took two rounds to dry the clothes. The ice machine didn't work for the first 3 days so we had to buy ice. We where only left with 1 extra roll of paper towels so we had to buy another roll. When you pay for a family of 13 to stay for a whole week that's simply not enough. paying extra every day for an infant who was only 2 months old cost us extra money...I think we where paying enough as it was.The price we paid was not worth what we received.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We rely on guest feedback to help us improve our procedures and ensure future guests experience a 5-star stay. That said, we would like to clarify several points, as we do feel there seems to have been some misunderstandings and expectations that were not met. POOL - the pool was in fact heated to 84 degrees the entire stay and the spa was operational. This was confirmed by our onsite manager after the guest contacted us regarding their concerns. A/C - our homes are equipped with Ecobee thermostats. Our guests are able to adjust the temperature between a set range of degrees that help to keep our unit running smoothly and to prevent freezing lines which can happen if temperatures are set too low during the hot summer months. That said, if a guest would like the range reasonably adjusted, we are more then happy to accommodate that request so long as it does not overload the system. For the convenience of our guests, we’re also able to remotely access the thermostat so as not to interrupt a guests stay with an onsite visit. MATTRESSES - this was an oversight on our part. The previous guests had a special needs individual that required the mattress in the Nemo room to be placed on the floor. Given the same day turnover, our crew did not have the time to reassemble the bed frame before this guest checked in. We should have explained the situation to this guest prior to their arrival, and for that we do apologize. PAPER PRODUCTS - we do provide a “starter set” of toilet paper per bathroom and a roll of paper towels. We are happy to bring additional items upon request, however it is ultimately our guests responsibility to purchase extra as needed. As a courtesy we did offer to reimburse the guests for their purchase, however the guest we spoke to declined the offer. ICE MACHINE - it was determined that the guest had accidentally/admittedly turned off the ice machine, which we were able to turn back on for them. WASHING MACHINE/DRYER - we will be sure to troubleshoot and confirm all are in working order. Hopefully this helps to clarify any misunderstandings, and ultimately our guest’s experience is our #1 priority and sincerely apologize where we fell short of providing the 5 star stay we demand of ourselves.
