Great family vacation

  • 4 of 5

This is our second time staying at the Cottages and we love the location and amenities. The house was perfect for our family (7 and 3 year old). The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is there was a hiccup with the AC, but we didn't realize until the end that the geothermal heating wasn't working the way it should. Kathryn was a delight to deal with, very responsive to our questions. Would highly recommend ithis place to anyone.

A/C broke and owner ignored us

  • 1 of 5

During our one week stay in September, the air conditioner stopped working half way through our visit. We contacted Kathryn, the owner, twice and surprisingly she never got back to us. I could tell you everything that is wrong with this cottage but I won’t because the most important thing here is the lack of responsiveness to issues that crop up. It’s unacceptable and I won’t stay at this cottage again.

On the positive side — the development itself is a little slice of paradise! Beautiful landscaping and walking paths, lovely pools and hot tub, 500 metres of sandy beach with volleyball, fire pits, playground and off leash dog park. There is construction going on but we didn’t find it disruptive and the residents were very friendly and helpful. We also visited the show homes and were impressed and how far the designs have come from the original built cottages. We will definitely be back but we will chose one of the newer built cottages and hopefully have a more responsive owner.

A perfect holiday!

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful, modern cottage in a resort-like husband, two daughters, and I stayed for 10 days in July 2016 in Kathryn and Craig's well-equiped cottage on the north end of Lake Osoyoos. Kathryn always communicated with us promptly and made us feel like our stay was important to her.

The cottage has everything you need...including a lovely screened in porch to enjoy your morning coffee in.

Our teenagers loved the two pools and hot tubs in the clubhouse, a 2 minute walk from the cottage. We also enjoyed the volleyball court and tetherball down at the beach, which was never busy.

Launching our boat at the Osoyoos town boat launch was a breeze, with a short drive to store our boat trailer at the city lot for $15/week. We then boated up the lake and docked our boat at the Osoyoos Cottages marina for our entire stay. So wonderful to wake up each morning and just have a 5 minute walk to our boat. Not so many boats at the north end of the lake...perfect for waterskiing!

What a welcoming community for a relaxing vacation! We have already booked in for next year!

Will be amazing... in a few years

  • 2 of 5

Well, I went back and forth whether or not to submit this review but in the end, I felt it only fair to other travelers.

First off, I will say that Kathryn is a delight to deal with. She really cares and wants everyone to have the best stay possible at her vacation home.

, the problem is that we really feel that we were misguided on the state of construction of this development. We were told it was a "quiet development". Well, here's the problem. The Cottages is a complete construction zone still. We had mistakenly assumed that it was completed in phases and this cottage would be in one of those. Not so. Construction everywhere. We pulled up on our first night to a portapotty in the driveway at the cottage, a full load of wood scraps and garbage on the other side of the house and across the street, well, it was a lot that was clearly in the prep stages of laying a foundation complete with bobcats on site. At this point we were hopeful for the best and got settled. On a walk that evening, a young couple stopped and warned us to hold our little one close (2 1/2 yr old) as the construction trucks fly around the streets and they were fearful for him. Still optimistic for our vacation, we were saddened to be woken at 7am to the sounds of construction right outside our bedroom window (unfortunately all windows face the same way so there would be no avoiding it). Workers yelling, throwing materials around, trucks backing in and out and parking on the street and in the driveway that was to be solely for our use (we had been in touch with Kathryn the night before who listened to our concerns and was in touch with the contractor who removed the portapotty first thing). Unfortunately, the idea of living in a construction zone from 7-4 every day of our holiday was not appealing and Kathryn, to her favor, allowed us to back out of our booking (save for the one night and a rather hefty cleaning fee but honestly, we were just happy to be able to get out and find somewhere else that would allow us the peaceful holiday we were looking for).

On the positive, the house is absolutely gorgeous with great amenities and if you are ok with construction sounds or plan on being out of the house during the day, you will love evenings there. For us, we would consider staying here again, but in a few years when hopefully The Cottages are in a greater state of completion.

Beautiful Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Kathryn and Craig's cottage for a 1.5 weeks in March/15. Osoyoos Cottages is a new development on the NE side of Osoyoos Lake, halfway between Osoyoos & Oliver. It is a short drive from many great wineries, fruit stands and grocery shopping, but nice and quiet without the traffic of Osoyoos. The developer has planned a lovely gated lakefront community and while it's still under construction, we were not bothered at all by it. There is a clubhouse about a one minute walk from the cottage that houses a gym, washroom/change facilities and outdoor hot tubs, pool and seating. There is beachfront, children's play areas and boat docks. We launched our kayak from the beach and explored the north part of the lake. Check out for more detailed info on the development.

The cottage itself was nothing short of fantastic! It is abundantly clear that Kathryn and Craig put a lot of thought and love into the furnishings, decorations, linens, supplies and extras (like games and throw blankets). The cottage is decorated tastefully and I have never stayed in a vacation rental that was better equipped. Every household supply (and much more!) we needed for our ten day stay was there. Most owners furnish their vacation units with mismatched leftovers from home, but not in this case. Everything is brand new and of great quality and condition. We had guests on three different occasions and all were impressed with location and how lovely and well-supplied the cottage was. It was a huge bonus for my son and daughter-in-law that the cottage was pet friendly (although you'd never know as it was spotless).

The cottage layout was perfect with a large kitchen/dining/living room, washer/dryer/storage, two washrooms and two very comfy queen bedrooms on the main and a loft with a third bedroom (two twins) and office area upstairs. As a bonus, there is a large screened patio off the kitchen and an outdoor sitting area facing a green space. The size and layout would be great for a couple, family (up to four kids...they would love the loft space) or even three couples with few or no privacy issues. We didn't get to use the charcoal BBQ. The cable and internet worked flawlessly.

Kathryn was wonderful to deal with...very accommodating, compassionate and helpful. I forgot something at the cottage and she was kind enough to drop it off at a relative's home in Oliver.

I would recommend Kathryn and Craig's cottage without hesitation!
