We were looking for a quiet lake-front ‘cabin’ for the whole family of 8 (aunt and grandma included) and what we found was much more than a ‘cabin’, this is a wonderful house seating in a very private lot on the East shore of lake Michigan.
The house is pristine.
The place was so comfortable that we did not have the need to go anywhere else!
Our kids (late teens, early twenties) found plenty to do kayaking, swimming, rock collecting and ‘hanging out’ by the fire. When it rained, they got busy playing pool and Ping-Pong.
Grandma enjoyed cooking some Italian meals on the fully equipped kitchen.
The view from the living room and the two bedrooms facing the lake is incredible, if you leave the windows open, you will hear the sound of the water, as if you were sleeping outside.
If by any chance Lake Michigan is not enough (I doubt it), Torch Lake is a 10-minute drive from the house.
Melissa, our host, was incredibly kind, checking to make sure everything was OK but without being intrusive.
Book without hesitation, the pictures are good but once you see the house and the setting, you will realize that you got more than you thought you would.
We are hoping to return to Cedarwood Shores as soon as we can.
B & family.
PS: We also found that the beach is loaded with beautiful Petoskey stones. One of the previous guests said that they might have picked them all up, not true, there are enough stones for every future guest for several lifetimes. A useful tip, go to the water right in front of the house, pickup a handful of wet stones without looking, and at least 1 or 2 out of 10 that will be a Petoskey stone.
