About Marilyn & Steve Ryan
Your hosts, Steve and Marilyn Ryan have been renting for 20 years. We live on the property, love dogs, have kids and grandkids. Steve makes jewelry, Marilyn plays guitar, mandolin and autoharp and sings folk and bluegrass music.
Marilyn & Steve Ryan purchased this Cottage in 1984
Why Marilyn & Steve Ryan chose Bar Harbor
We bought this property because it is beautiful, close to town and has no neighbors. We built all the buildings, including our home. We have a gorgeous view into Acadia National Park, one of the most beautiful places in the world.
What makes this Cottage unique
Surrounded by the Acadia National Park, pure water from our 600 foot deep well, room for dogs and kids to play outside, 3 miles from town, 1 mile from Eagle Lake - the perfect place to be! Walk or take your bike down the driveway and you are on the trails in Acadia National Park.

Wonderful get-a-way with the family & DOGS!!
This was our return trip (we first visited in 2016) and we already booked again for 2018!!!! Wonderful vacation with tons to do. Marilyn and Steve are the "hosts with the most" and very friendly and personable. We travel as a small pack ( mom, dad and 5 kids from 8-19 and our 3 dogs) and there was always something to do for everyone. From shops in town (only 5 mins in the car), to Acadia National Park (basically next door) and its endless biking and hiking trails, whalewatching, rockskipping, nature walks at any time of day, Atlantic Brewery, the best blueberry pie anywhere, Bar Harbor Popcorn in town to endless art galleries and all types of music, there is no shortage to do. The property and accommodations are beautiful and have everything you need except for your food!!! From the quiet seclusion of your deck the coffee never tasted so good. Marilyn and Steve are always present for any questions or guidance and there knowledge of the area is fantastic. A week is not enough to do everything, even staying busy for the entire week.
Thank you Joe and family for the wonderful review, but most of all, thanks for staying with us! it was definitely a fun week for us too!
Marvelous Place to Stay
This was our third summer (plus one autumn) staying with the Ryans. They are friendly, generous, and gracious hosts..always going out of their way to make sure we had whatever we might need.
In addition, they are highly accommodating to our canine companion. and all dogs, big and small.
The accommodations (we stayed in 2 of their rentals) are just great, outfitted with everything for our stay. They are very clean and well maintained. Washers and dryers are available and come in very handy.
The setting is terrific and you are literally surrounded by park and forest. It's like having a tree house!
We love that you can walk a short distance and be right in Acadia National Park--no cars, no parking issues.
Of course, you are an easy drive to downtown
Bar Harbor with all that it has to offer. (You can visit the Ryans' store on Main Street: Jekyll and Hyde). You are also within easy distance to neighboring towns on Mount Desert Island such as Southwest Harbor.
All in all, the Ryan Estate is just a great place to stay and we recommend it without any hesitation!! You will have the best time!!
Thanks so much for the stellar review. You happen to be the very best guests anyone could wish for. We are so happy you have had good times staying at the Ryan's. We always enjoy seeing you all and Mazie too.

One of our favorite spots on Mt. Desert Island
This is a beautiful sunlit apartment near the Eagle Lake entrance to Acadia National Park. The hosts were extremely nice, welcoming, and friendly; the apartment is freshly renovated and clean, with a well-equipped kitchenette. Dog and family friendly, with a large enclosed outdoor space for pets. We've stayed here many times and plan on coming back!
Thanks for the great review. We appreciate the time you took to write about us!

Ryan Estates is located on 7 private, wooded acres, surrounded on all sides by Acadia National Park. The park trails begin at the bottom of our driveway. We are only 3 miles from downtown Bar Harbor, and one mile from beautiful Eagle Lake. You can hike or bike right from your door into the park. Pets and kids are always welcome.
