About the property

A 2 Building Lodge W/ Sleeping For 10+, Plenty Of Parking Close To Lake And Bar

The Guidepost is a 2 building lodge right in the heart of Clear Lake ( officially Foster Township), just 15 minutes from !-75, as well as from West Branch, Rose City and St. Helen.

The main house is designed as a lodge, with two rooms. One room is a 3/4 bathroom with a shower, as well as a regular size washer & dryer. The main room is a studio floor plan with a complete kitchen, including a refrigerator, stove and microwave. High ceilings and 14 windows provide a lot of light and a sense of openness. There is also a dining area, TV section (DVD player, no cable), couch, tables and chairs, and 5 twin beds. There is room to add more beds if desired. Total of 900 square feet.

Charcoal grill, coffee maker, linens, towels and paper products are provided. We also have a fire pit (firewood can be purchased at the corner store) and horseshoe pits.

The second building is ideal for vacationers who need a lot of beds, or just want more space to relax. The second building is also 2 rooms. The main room is an open floor plan including a bar with a full sink and refrigerator, 5 twin beds (and room for more) couch, chairs and tables, and a Foosball table . There is a half bath, wheel chair accessible. Overall this adds an additional 900 square feet.

Both houses were completely refurbished in the last 3 years, with a rustic cabin decor.

The buildings are located on a corner lot just across from Clear Lake, and yards from the Clear Lake Party Store, DNR boat launch, Clear Lake Bar & Grill, also the Side Door Restaurant. The Guidepost was formally a gas station and store, so it has plenty of parking for your cars and toys. The property is about a quarter acre, with room to set up yard games and have a campfire.

Across the street, Clear Lake has a marina with pontoon, fishing boats, & kayaks with dock space rentals, a public boat launch and beach. May want to call ahead to reserve boat or dock space (989 345-2549). It is a beautiful all sports lake .

About a mile away is a public park with tennis courts, softball diamond, covered picnic area, barbecue grills and a basketball court also swings and slides.

The Guidepost is just 15 minutes from several towns which have golf courses, restaurants and bars. West Branch has 3 golf courses as well as an outlet mall and many nice restaurants, fast food, bars, a cinema, bowling alleys, and putt putt golf..

There are several lakes in addition to Clear Lake, for fishing and boating. There are rivers for canoeing & tubing within 25 miles. The area is also very popular with hunters (state land), off road riders and a trail head 2 miles away at the Ogemaw National Forest, there are plenty of trails for all of your favorite outdoor activities (ATV's can travel on the side of the road). Hiking and bike trails are 5 miles away with car parking.

About Chris Crowley

i grew up in Michigan, and spent as much of my summers and weekends in the Clear Lake area, where much of my family lives. I now have four kids, who are part of the 5 generations of our family that enjoys Clear Lake.

Chris Crowley purchased this lodge in 2007

Why Chris Crowley chose West Branch

We bought the Guidepost in 2007, with the goal of rebuilding and restoring the property into a place that could handle our large family. It was important to also preserve the hisotry of the Gudepost in the community.

The buildings were rebuilt from the foundation, completely replacing the plumbing, well, electric, floors, windows, walls, etc. The inside and outside have a rustic up north decor.

We also chose the Guidepost for its location, close to all community amenities and just down the street from the first cabin my great grandfather owned.
