About Sharon & Rick

I was born and raised in a suburb of Charlotte, NC and was living in Wilmington, NC when I was invited to a girls weekend get-away to Vail in 1993. I met my husband Rick in the Red Lion the first day of that trip (blissful ever since!). Rick was living in Wisconsin at the time, so we dated long-distance for a year and a half. The following year he proposed to me at the top of the Mountain Top Express lift (4) overlooking Sun Up Bowl, China Bowl, and Blue Sky Basin with a photographer in-tow. I said 'yes' and moved to the Midwest to start our new life together (I'm still not certain that leaving a coastal community for the Midwest was the best idea :-). Needless to say, Vail is truly a magical place for us. Our family escapes our day jobs for Vail as often as we can.

Owning a place in Vail was a dream of ours since the day we met. Now that we have a place to call our own, we are happy to share our Vail home with you to make your own memories. We currently live in a Minneapolis suburb where Rick is an executive with an employee benefits administration firm and I am the director of a large preschool.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We hope that you enjoy our place as much as we do and we welcome you back on your next visit to the Vail Valley.

Why Sharon & Rick chose Lionshead Village

Lion Square Lodge is so close to all that Vail has to offer. The ski-in/ski-out convenience and Lionshead Village steps from the door makes this the perfect place to be, winter or summer. Lion Square Lodge has so many amenities which makes staying here incredibly easy and convenient. Unlike several ski-in/ski-out places, Lion Square Lodge North Residences are very quiet during the evenings which makes it the perfect place for families and couples looking for a romantic get-away.

The beautiful view from the balcony!

VRBO Bear stayed here

Aug 30, 2017

This bear needed a cooler place for his summer vacation and Lion Square Lodge in Vail was the perfect fit. The condo was wonderfully stocked with everything you need to cook meals, comfortable beds with luxury linens, a Murphy bed (our little cub’s “secret magic bed”), a cozy fireplace, and of course beautiful mountain views! We loved leaving the balcony door open to let in the fresh air off the mountain and taking in the vista while we played cards and board games. The older cub spent time in the heated pool and hot tubs while Mama and Papa enjoyed the mountain & stream views. The location of the condo was convenient to so many amenities. It was a short beautiful walk to Lionshead Village where we could grab a bite or head right out our front door for a hike along Gore Creek or if we were feeling really industrious, up the mountain! Lionshead is within walking distance to Vail Village, which is connected by beautiful trails through the forest. The cub’s favorite activities included the gondola ride up the mountain, visiting the playgrounds on our daily walks, hiking, and renting bikes to cruise around Vail and the surrounding area. Mama bear loved her morning run through the forest and Papa bear loved the various micro brews Colorado has to offer. Lion Square Lodge is the perfect place to stay to take in all Vail has to offer. This bear family can’t wait to go back!

A few steps from the Lionshead Gondola, this apartment is perfect for a small family

  • 5 of 5

We just returned home from a 10-night stay in this wonderful unit. Location is excellent, as the property is right next to the Lionshead Gondola, the most efficient way to get up Vail mountain. After a day on the slopes, you can leave your skis with the ski-in/out overnight valet, and walk across a small parking lot to get to the unit. No long walks lugging skis and poles wearing ski boots, no shuttle bus needed. This is a luxury!

The unit is not large, but it is wonderfully utilized and very well appointed. The master bedroom is actually pretty spacious, even with a king size bed. Our three teenage boys slept in the living room, which turns into a bedroom for as many as four with a Murphy bed and a sleeper sofa. The unit has two well-appointed full bathrooms. Closet space is limited, though, so our only challenge was getting the boys to keep the place more or less presentable.

The unit's owners have put a lot of thought and effort into the apartment. Details like multiple outlets and charging ports on both nightstands in the master bedroom, or integrated timers for bathroom heat lamps and extractor fans, are small details that you appreciate once you realize they are there. And the owners -Sharon and Rick- were very attentive during our stay; we had a minor maintenance issue with a window blind and Rick addressed it quickly.

All in all, the unit is a wonderful place to stay while in Vail. You trade a little bit of square footage in favor of a great location, but that is a trade we will make every time in a ski vacation. And like I said, the unit is pristine and the space is well utilized.

We would be happy to return to the unit in the future.

Sharon & Rick's place was the perfect Vail condo for our family of 4! First let me begin with the location... it couldn't have been any better- right in the heart of Lionshead. The view of the mountain was beautiful, Charter Sports literally right next door for easy ski rentals, 2 minute walk to the gondola, and a short walk (or shuttle ride) to Vail Village. Great restaurants right in Lionshead - we enjoyed Montauk Seafood and Blue Moose Pizza.

The condo itself is absolutely gorgeous as well as meticulous. It was extremely comfortable for my husband & I and our two college-aged boys. It was so well stocked- I easily made a hearty breakfast each morning and had warm cookies ready apres ski. Loved that there were spices, coffee filters, etc provided.

Rick couldn't have been more helpful! Before we even arrived, we received an email with information on anything we could possibly need for our stay. Rick contacted my husband upon our arrival to make sure that we were happy with our accommodations! We couldn't have asked for a better host!

Thank you Sharon & Rick for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. We hope to be back!

5 Stars for this Lionshead North Condo

  • 5 of 5

Beginning with an early inquiry, Rick has helped make our vacation perfect! His ability to thoughtfully respond to all questions during our planning was second to none. The condo was great - a family of 5, all comfortable. The living room layout was comfortable and the Murphy bed was perfect! Coordinate a grocery drop from Resort Grocery so you have the kitchen stocked when you arrive.

We loved this location - Charter Sports next to the lobby, a very short walk to the ski valet, a very short walk to the ice rink and all of Lionshead.

Super convenient spot, great condo with access to a pool, hot tub and Mexican restaurant just a short walk away in the South Building. Sunshine and views of the trails as well from the 2nd floor porch - which has a grill that we used the first night.

We plan to re-book with Rick and Sharon again!!

Awesome Place!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Rick and Sharon's condo and couldn't be more pleased. The unit had everything we needed to be at home away from home, from a well stocked kitchen to hair dryers under each bathroom sinks. There are USB charging ports in the living room and the master bedroom which made recharging our electronics a breeze. The furnishings are perfect for mountain elegance. The views from the balcony directly at Vail's runs are simply breathtaking.

The location was awesome! We were literally a few steps to everything we could want; the Gondola, Born Free Express chairlift, ski school, coffee shops, restaurants, and the ice rink. There's even a ski shop in the building making equipment rentals super easy.

Thank you for such great hospitality and sharing your mountain getaway with us. We will definitely stay at your place on our next visit.

Incredible location, views and like new condo!

  • 5 of 5

This condo is so much better than the pictures, the layout was perfect! We loved the cozy furnishings, fireplace and deck with amazing views of the ski runs. We were so surprised when we walked out and went around the corner and there was the gondola right at our door step. It was so clean and felt like new. The owner was so responsive on every detail from booking to where to have dinner. I would highly recommend this property to my family and friends. We got a sunny day and powder day while we were here. Warren Miller quote "Do it this year, next year you will be a year older"

Beautiful condo in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Totally enjoyed staying in Rick & Sharon’s condo. The condo was well appointed with everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had all the pots, dishes, utensils, and appliances that anyone would need. It’s only a short 100 yard walk to the gondola and the lodge has a ski valet which makes life easier. The owners are very easy to contact and will respond to any questions or needs quickly. We would definitely stay here again!
