About the property

4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Bathrooms, Sleeps 12

The Paddy D is a modern lakefront retreat located 10 miles south of Minocqua on a private 200 acre estate nestled in the heart of the American Legion State Forest. Overlooking beautiful Fawn Lake, the property offers a unique blend of privacy with all the comforts of home. For specific questions, please feel free to call the owner Penny or Pat at 262-751-7964.

The main level has a full kitchen, combined dining and living area with a fireplace, ½ bath, and a large master bedroom with a full bath and Jacuzzi type tub. The lower level has two private bedrooms along with a 'bunk room', full bath, and laundry facilities. This floor plan offers privacy for families vacationing together or gives the children a space of their own. All housekeeping utensils, towels, and bed linen are provided.

The large deck is equipped with patio furniture and a gas grill and offers panoramic views of the lake and grounds. The sand beach and large play area of this estate are incredible. The beach is shared with two other cabins located on the property and offers a gentle slope into the water with a raft close to shore for younger children and a raft further out into the lake for more experienced swimmers. There is no life guard present so swimming is at your own risk. Lawn furniture and beach toys are provided for your use, including paddle boats, kayaks and a canoe.

Fawn Lake observes a 'no wake' policy, which means no large motors allowed. This tradition has been followed for over 60 years resulting in one of the best fisheries for bass and bluegill in Wisconsin. A row boat is provided for your use on Fawn Lake along with life vests and boat cushions. There are two other lakes, Lumen and Island, adjacent to the property with several 'community' boats available on a first come first served basis.

The Paddy D is located in Oneida County in north central Wisconsin and is within easy driving distance of Minocqua, Woodruff, Lake Tomahawk, Hazelhurst, St. Germain, and Eagle River. This north woods area is Wisconsin's premiere vacation destination and home to one of the greatest concentrations of natural lakes in the world. Fine dining and other recreational activities including golf, biking, horseback riding, and shopping are only a short drive away!

This is the perfect get away

  • 5 of 5

The house and grounds are immaculate. The inside of the house has a great rustic feel and is very comfortable. The grounds are level and lead to a level sand beach for swimming. There is plenty of room for children to run and throw Frisbees etc.

Paddy is located in a very quiet area. On a calm day we could hear the wind going through the wings of low flying geese and loons. We even heard and owl across the lake. This is the perfect place to stargaze because the area is so dark at night. You are only 15 minutes from Minocqua so you can enjoy the area attractions. We highly recommend this as a getaway and would love to return.

Excellent vacation choice

  • 5 of 5

This is one awesome place! The lake worked equally well for little kids who spent hours in the sand, slightly bigger kids who were comfortable in the shallow water, and big fishermen, who caught and cooked bluegills for us. The 4- and 5-year-olds were thrilled to power their own kid-size sit-upon kayaks. We ate all our meals in and found everything we needed. The huge kitchen table fit everyone. Bathrooms (wonderful to have 2 1/2) were well stocked with towels and supplies to meet all needs. The weather knocked the power out, and the owners hooked up a generator for us!! Balls, badminton, volleyball, shuffleboard, a fire pit and a load of firewood (we didn't even have time to use it!) If you get a cool and dreary day check out the AMAZING zoo on HWY 70 in Woodruff. Lots of sand/beach toys, a fairy garden, plenty of life jackets, boats galore (paddle, row, kayak). Bring your bikes--many low-traffic paved roads in the area. Minocqua is a fun place, the area is beautiful. There were 10 - 12 of us (not everyone could get a week off) and there was plenty of room. Only complaint: the week raced by! We're already booked for next year. Thank you for sharing your wonderful cottage.

Great vacation experience

  • 5 of 5

We had our annual summer family vacation at Paddy D this year. The facility was perfect for a group as large as ours. We found the beach to be a great getaway and the kids loved it and all the amenities that went along with it. We were not at a loss for things to do. The fishing was excellent. We caught enough fish to have a fish fry one evening for dinner. The large lawn provided the perfect "battle ground" for our water balloon fight. The house was well stocked with everything we needed and we never ran short on any supplies.

All ages had fun at Fawn Lake rental

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I hosted a gathering of family at Fawn Lake. From the toddlers (ages 1 and 3 1/2), to the teens (13 and 16), the parents, and the elders all reported having had a good time : kayaking, swimming, fishing, campfires, and enjoying meals on the deck under the umbrella. Driving into town for a latte or shopping, or just to pick up more bait was convenient. The No Wake rule on Fawn Lake made for a quiet stay and a northwoods cabin experience. Stars, satellites, fireflies, frogs, loon watching, turtles, ducks, deer, and shuffleboard .... We were fortunate to have wonderful summer weather, without storms, so very little time was spent indoors.

Paddy D on Fawn Lake -- Fantastic vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed in Paddy D on Fawn Lake. I was super impressed with the accommodations and the beauty of the area. The lake was beautiful, and we had fun swimming, kayaking, and just relaxing listening to the loon calls at dusk. The cabin is secluded so that you get the full disconnected experience, but it's close enough to many area attractions and tourist towns. The cabin itself was very clean, there was a fully stocked kitchen, and even a high chair available for little ones. It was well worth the 800 mile drive for a week of relaxation. I highly recommend you stay here!
