Cabin on Dale Hollow Lake - Hike to lake

Space 2,300 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 3 nights

Overview

About the property

Situated approx. 100 yards from water on 5 acres at the end of a road. Very private. Several Cabins say on Dale Hollow, but this one is. Hike to the lake with no one around first thing in the morning with not a soul in site, but only 1.3 miles to the highway and 10 miles to town. 2 miles to boat dock, plenty of land to enjoy. Trails to the lake for a ATV or a horse if you bring yours. The new swimming pool will be complete before April 2015 unless unforeseen circumstances show up. A new pool table is usable in the basement basement has couches and walk out deck to back yard, along with two queen beds in one room and a complete bathroom. I recently added a fire pit down by the lake and left four chairs, hope to leave a grill down there next spring and a hammock or two.

Dishes, silverware, bowls, coffee maker and cups, cooking pots and pans, blender, Crock pot, gas grill. Master Bedroom has King bed and Master bath, other two bedrooms on second floor are queen beds with bathroom between. All beds are new, Purchased 2/26/2014. Very clean and recently Painted. Screened in Deck on back of house facing Lake is 8' x 35'. Deck on front(8' x 35') and side and outside of finished basement(35' x 26' Deck) which faces lake. Small fire Place inside.

The county allows sale of beer, no Liquor(40 min away in Cookeville, TN). Sunset Marina Cooks up a great steak and The River Grill serves up some good dinner and The Bobcat is good for breakfast. There are other eateries in Brydstown and is a 10 min drive from cabin. For those that like to eat very well, I recommend Craw Daddies in Cookeville and there is a very good Mexican eatery in Livingston, TN next to Food Lion.

The Marathon station has all the lures anyone could want if you plan to fish and need a few items. Live bait can be found at the Kwik Stop or at Sunset Marina where one could use for boat ramp, 5$. Also, the state park, adjacent to Sunset Marina, has a good boat ramp for 4$, State Park(2 Miles away) also has a beach. There are several Marinas around the lake and Dale Hollow is approx. 61 miles long with several fingers of water.

We have WIFI, TV in the Living Room and Master Bedroom has a DVD player. We are just getting started and although this place is awesome, It will only get better,..

The Perfect Escape!

  • 5 of 5

This is our 4th year renting through VRBO and this cabin was my family's favorite thus far! We wanted to get away from the beaten path, hang out by a pool with family, friends, our dog, and just chillax instead of adhering to any kind of jam-packed itinerary. This rental allowed for a super-comfortable, safe, and fun week in gorgeous surroundings doing exactly that! The cabin was clean, the beds were comfy, the linens and supplies were plentiful, and while there were fire pits that we could have used, we didn't because the pool was so darned awesome! The owners were on site when we arrived and they are super-cool, animal-loving folks which we appreciated! There is a FoodLion close by so we enjoyed full meals in the well-stocked kitchen every day, cold beer, and bought more supplies for our group as needed. We had family pool tournaments downstairs and watched DVD's in the living room (BluRays aren't compatible with the current DVD player.) I really appreciated use of the washer and dryer in the cabin, the former of which is nicer than we have at home! We could see Dale Hollow Lake in the distance through the trees, which was lovely, but we weren't interested in venturing down there, again--because we were so happy to hang out by the pool and we aren't into boating. Our group consisted of 6 adults between 19-53 and everyone had a blast. I would def. recommend this cabin to others and return for another vacation here without hesitation.

Great for the human and even better for the dogs!

  • 5 of 5

While the first couple of days got off to a rocky start with no A/C, John immediately corrected the situation by having a new unit installed. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay and would stay there again in a heartbeat! The house has just about everything you need. John, Wendy, Judy and Dwain are the best and I miss them already. The only thing I would recommend is some new pots and pans and a cutting board to save your counter tops. Otherwise da bomb!

Good

  • 4 of 5

House was roomy. We had 9 people including one yr old twins and a 7yr old. Loved the front porch and the pool. Pool was AMAZING!!! Worth coming back to!

Kitchen pots and pans could be updated but were usable. Back lower porch was a mess. Looked like someone forgot to clean up after working on it, but we didnt use it so it was fine.

Pier 42 marina restauraunt was very good. I recommend the nachos, lemon pepper grilled chicken sanwich and the green beans!!

Overall trip was great and we left happy and sad to be leaving. Was hoping to meet John but he must have been gone all week.

Disappointed

  • 2 of 5

The range hood was falling down. The gas grill was rusted out and only half worked. The master bedroom carpet was filthy. The back porch had junk stored on it so we couldn't enjoy sitting out there. The basement smelled like sewage every morning. The dishes and pots and pans were not sufficient. They were chipped and scratched. We had spiders in the master bed. The hike to the lake was more like mountain climbing. The local dog scratched all 4 kids and kept climbing on them in the pool and popped most of their blow up pool toys. The owners wife was rude and unfriendly. Wouldn't keep her dog away. The ceiling tiles were falling down and missing in the basement shower. We felt like we were deceived and lied to about the condition of the property. With what we paid per night there shouldn't have been any thing out of order.

Owner's Response: That house is immaculate and way under priced,.. with that said, I'll leave it to Windy,... she was there and so were others,.. Range was installed unlevel and is not falling nor is anything else,.. Gas grill is not rusted and was in working condition,... Carpet is never filthy until your children threw up on it,.. We have three decks,... Rusty, Don't put my dog on the back porch locked up with no water and expect to come back, You also brought way to many people than you said you were,.. Don't come back,... Leaving dirty diapers, food , garbage, clothes at the pool,.. That's the kind of stuff you don't do in the Forest,.. Have a little respect, John Pappas

Great Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had eleven of us including 5 grandkids (6-16 years old). The house and entire property were very accommodating, the dogs were friendly, and the pool was spectacular. John and Wendy are the perfect hosts, we truly felt at home the entire visit. Looking forward to a return visit next year!

Awesome weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had a blast for our girls weekend. We had plenty of room at the cabin and the hospitality was even better. I truly enjoyed meeting John, Wendi, Joe and D. And the pups of course! Will definitely be back.
